"Oh come on, cheer up a bit!"
Personality:
At this point an experienced fighter, the swordswoman is very confident in her ability to vanquish attackers. Over the course of her journey her skills have improved so much that she is able to create airslashes now and even cut steel. Or rather, she chooses to be confident. There have been a few painful moments on her journey that have left her mentally scarred. Yet, these happenings were so awful, that hardly anything can be worse in her mind. Violence is a lot more viable an option to solve problems than it used to be for her. Thus, an enemy is always met with the intention to beat them, but also treated with the appropriate respect. Should their abilities prove too powerful, Melosa will try to persist but withdraw where it's needed. Sometimes though, she still cannot cope with vastly superior foes. Even though she tries to build up courage, the fear of getting herself or others hurt can still paralyze her. At times like these, she turns to her friends for advice. Should her friends not be available, this can lead to panic attacks.
The Queen Pirate is usually strictly against killing. Even evil people are to be given a chance to better themselves one day. That said, this does not apply to everyone. She has discovered she has a bit of a temper. Really awful people earn her fury, and in extreme cases she will cast anything aside just to make them pay. It takes a lot to get her to this point, but if she is there, it ends in blood. Hurting the innocent, especially her true friends, is a sure way to get it out of her. She has only murdered one of her opponents so far, fairly recently, still struggles with the feeling that gave her.
Overall, the Queen Bee resents the methods of the World Government who are allowing things like slavery to happen, condemn piracy without a second look or spread propaganda. Still, she sort of accepts this as the world order and wouldn't move to do anything about it. Instead, she focuses on things the government itself would have to see as a crime, like corrupt Marines or ridiculous policies among nobles. In turn, she can very much understand the position of kind-hearted Marines and doesn't see their involvement with the Government as a reason not to like them. Instead, she tries to make them see what's wrong so that they can help fighting the good fight. On certain issues others might see as a line that should never be crossed, Melosa believes in gray areas. One such example is slavery. She generally dislikes how most people handle slaves, but believes the way slaves were treated in her household back home wasn't as bad.
Despite not wanting to be compared to the Nobles most citizens resent, she has a few quirks picked up from her heritage. She takes every luxury she can get, even out on the sea.
For example, she does not like having to live without for properly cooked meals. Which is an issue, since she cannot under any circumstances be trusted with an oven, grill or even making sandwiches. Anything that she tries comes out burned, overspiced or otherwise horribly wrong.
Another example would be the good amount of money she spent on her own captain's quarters, while her crew has to make due with hammocks.
Additionally, she cannot hold her liquor for the live of her - because she never learned to. The tiniest amount of alcohol gets her drunk enough to scream at everyone that she is their Queen and they are to do as she commands.
Finally, her high-pitched, clear laugh, which might sound arrogant to some people.
However, the most significant remains of her upbringing are her movements. Melosa struts around confidently, keeping her head up as if she doesn't want to look at the people that are below her. She does do this intentionally often enough, to demand respect from her peers. But, she also doesn't notice that she still does it when she doesn't aim to.
But there are also positive traits that have to be attributed to her upbringing. The noble's daughter is highly educated, knowledgeable on most islands in the South Blue, their inhabitants, legends, flora and fauna. She even knows at least one fact about each island on the Grand Line she plans to go to. From her fishman caretaker, she also knows a lot about Fishman Island and its history up to 10 years ago.
On top of that, since she got her Devil Fruit, Melosa has studied beekeeping and showed quite the talent for it.
In preparation for her journey, Melosa has also had the spare time to gather the needed navigational skills. While she isn't nearly as good as a professional, her crew is able to make due.
Furthermore, the lass was also taught politics and diplomacy. With her recent decision to build up her own network of allies, she uses this skill a lot.
Most importantly though, she was taught in the art of acting in front of a crowd and/or subordinates. She knows how to get people to fight with and for her.
A final quirk of hers was developed after her crushing defeat at the hand of Sparkles Evershine: An unhealthy obsession with finding a way to beat Logia Fruit Users.

"Would you like to join the Queen Pirates?"
Plot Threads
Melosa started her journey in Waq Waq, not far away from her home island. There, she gathered two crewmembers, Chase and Shin. Together, they fought Jicote Alborotador's pirate crew and Melosa beat him in a one on one fight, while Jicote's First Mate Lucotor Enano was beaten by Chase. They handed Jicote over to the authorities and cashed in his bounty. With the money, they build a ship, a small caravel called La Colmena and the Queen Pirates started their journey.(+120XPz)
The Disaster of Dauntaun
On their way to the Silver Islands, the Queen Pirates stopped in Dauntaun, the island of the Yolers. There, they decided to go after Blackwell, an influential slavetrader. They made plans to catch him, but were interrupted by the sudden appearance of Carl Ohdora, an unemployed chef. Before they could convince him to join the crew however, Roza Maleza, an angent of the terrorist organisation El Roble set off a bomb in the middle of the town. Subsequently, both Carl and Chase got lost in the panicking crowd and Roza approached them with an offer: join the organisation. Of course, Melosa and Shin decided to train instead and take them down one day.(+90XPz)
Stranded on Aityaia
Hit by a massive storm, the Queen Pirates' ship was wrecked and Melosa stranded on the beach of Aityaia. As she wandered through the local jungle on the lookout for civilisation, she was stopped by a Shinobi boy and brought to the legendary Rokkakku village. There, she discovered that the mistery person Abejorro made a contract with the village to protect her from harm. However, the villagers interpreted it as training her until she can defend herself. So, they started her first lesson - which she managed to cheat in. (+90XPz)
Training on Rokkakku
Still basically a captive in the village of Rokkakku, Melosa spend a full month training herself in a variation of disciplines with the help of different tutors. Here, she learned how to create airslash techniques. At the end of the month, chaos broke out as the Marine Crew of Lieutenant Lea Koshinawa tried to find and arrest the Queen Pirates, who were suspected of the bombing of Dauntaun a little while ago. At the same time, Melosa had her first examn to test her progress. However, she discovered the truth about Abejorro, which was in fact her own mother's code name. With the help of Bendan Koga-Ryu, she escaped the village just in time to save her crew and leave the island for good.(+120XPz)

Appearance:
Melosa is tall and slender. Smooth, fair, spotless skin graces her body, only disturbed by the very apparent clawshaped burn mark on her neck. She has pink long hair that is usually bound in two girly pigtails that hang left and right from her head just down to her shoulders. On top of her head, she has braided 3 yellow feathers into her hair that stand up straight and resemble a crown, a traditional thing nobles on her home island do. Her eyes are big and green and her nose short and slightly pointed upwards, which gives her a very cheeky look.
Since her trademark outfit has been torn apart in a fight, she switched to different variants of bright coloured skirts and sleevless tops or dresses. In cooler climates she is known to throw on a cardigan. She has not yet been somewhere where it's actually cold. On her feet, the young woman mostly wears knee-high black high-heels. When not in a fight, she wears yellow leather gloves to cover the holes in her palms that were created by her devil fruit. Usually, she has tied her 2 swords to her back.

Traits
- Inhuman Speed
- Inhuman Accuracy
- Moetsukishyoukougun (Burnout Syndrome): Thanks to a couple of unfortunate heat related experiences, Melosa has developed a certain resistance to heat: The ability to laugh off pain that comes from fire. Her body is still damaged, but she won't care if she is hit by a torch or walking through a wildfire.
- Dokumiyaku (Poison Taster): Having been exposed to various poisonous abilities, not to mention tons of bee stings from experimenting with her own Devil Fruit Ability and some unfortunate food poisoning incidents, Melosa's body has build up resistance to most poisons.
- Beehive Woman: Melosa has eaten the Hachi Hachi no Mi, enabling her to control bees.

Link: Link
Rank: E
Power: Turns the user into a "Beehive Human" capable of gathering bees within her body and manipulating them using pheromones and bee-language. Unlike before, she can now control them in groups of 100 or more.
Weapons
- 1 Chokuto Sword (Rank 0): Melosa uses a long Chokuto with an 80cm one-edged blade, which she has taken with her when she left home. It has an iron handle with a check-pattern.
- Inuhohzuki (Black Nightshade, Rank 4, Not yet owned IC):
Inuhohzuki most resembles a katana. The Ō Wazamono's hilt is wrapped in pitch black tape, a slightly brighter, but still very dark blue alloy shining through little fissures in the tape.
The crosspiece is covered in light gray wolf's fur, with darker gray fringes of fur stretching out about half a centimeter further than the actual guard. It's a simple round crossguard, shaped like a perfect circle. The slightly curved blade itself is about 90cm long and coloured in pitch black. This can be attributed to one of his qualities:
Kokutō ("Black Blade/Sword"). It's insanely durable, to the point where barely anything can damage it.
Secondly, it's heavy, way heavier than it's size would imply. This makes it slow and hard to wield, but a very powerful weapon once one can handle it.
Similar to some of the other known graded swords, people tell some weird myths about Inuhohzuki. Legend says, the sword itself is sad. Supposedly, it's seen too many horrible murders and unjust acts of war. In some way, so they say, the blade needs an owner that can comfort it. While it, allegedly, doesn't get angry at evildoers and just weeps in silence, it's curse will reward those with a good consciousness with a great good night sleep. However, sceptics have claimed that this sleep could just be attributed to said good consciousness without the help of a sword.
- Hanakanzashi(Chamomile Sunray, Rank 3):The Ryo Wazamono's hilt is wrapped in a shiny gold alloy. White bandages are wrapped around the handle, making it easier to grip. Instead of the usually rather complex shapes around the crosspiece, there is a single bell guard to protect the wielder's hand. This guard is shaped like a daisy with the blade protruding from the middle. The flower's petals are bent backwards to cover the wielder's hand up to the knuckles. Hanakanzashi's double-edged blade itself is about 90cm long and coloured completely white.
There are two main properties Hakanzashi is famous for. For one it's blade and even more so the guard are extremely durable, able to withstand forces normal swords could not. This is of course by no means on par with higher graded weapons. The second property it is so famous for is that it is extremely light, enabling the user to fight faster but also running the risk of it flying off if the wielder's grip wasn't strong enough.
Similar to some of the other known graded swords, people tell some weird myths about Hanakanzashi. Legend says, the owner will be followed by beautiful weather wherever he or she goes. This doesn't necessarily mean sunny as there can be beautiful snow in the winter or amazing views of landscapes shrouded in thick mist. Another story tells of the blade's silencer-like abilities. It seems to make no noise when being drawn out of its sheath, being slashed through the air or piercing an enemy's body.
Techniques
Devil Fruit Techniques
- Yoho-Bako - (Beehive -, Rank 1): The Hachi Hachi no Mi's signature move. Melosa uses a certain hand movement to give a specific order to her bees. (These all count as variations, thus do not require an XP payment unless there's a change in rank.)
- Yoho-Bako - Tsudou! (Beehive - Assemble!, Rank 1): Doesn't require a movement. Melosa raises her hand and emits the pheromones used to lure bees in or make them come out of her hand.
- Yoho-Bako - Kogeki! (Beehive - Attack!, Rank 1): Melosa points with her forefinger at an enemy and makes the bees attack the target, stinging him. This was previously used as a last resort, since she could only control all of her bees at once and all her troops were dead after this. This technique can now refer to groups of enemies, making the bees automatically divide equally among all targets. Thanks to the more refined control Melosa has gained, this is no longer a last resort.
- Yoko-Bako - Sorasu! (Beehive - Deflect!, Rank 1): Melosa swipes through the air with her hand as if she would wipe over a chalkboard in front of her. The bees take on a formation that covers her from the enemy's vision.
- Yoko-Bako - Kakomu! (Beehive - Surround!, Rank 1): Melosa makes a circular movement with the tip of her index finger. The bees will start sorrounding the enemy like a tornado. They will not stop doing so no matter what, even if the enemy starts attacking from the inside or simply walks out, the bees will keep surrounding the area where he was at the time Melosa gave the order.
- Yoho-Bako - Ohu! (Beehive - Disguise!, Rank 1): For this technique, Melosa points with her index finger at the arm she wants to use this move on, wether it's her own or someone else's. The bees will start to surround the arm, concealing it completely, including anything in his or her hand, a weapon for example
- Yoho-Bako - Kakeyo! (Beehive - Write!, Rank 1): Melosa uses her left index finger to make writing motions on her right palm. Her bees fly up high into the sky where they take on a formation shaped like whatever message Melosa wants to write.
- Yoho-Bako - Ishoudzukeyo! (Beehive - Impress, Rank 2): Melosa throws her head back and raises both fists in the air as she yells the technique. Her bees take on a formation of a giant crude figure of whatever person she wishes (usually herself), which continues to make the motions Melosa makes until she negates the technique with the same movement she started it with. This giant can't actually hurt anyone, it's only use is to motivate allies or scare enemies.
Zumbido Sword Fighting Techniques
- Picadura De Abeja (Bee Sting, Rank 1): Melosa jumps at the enemy and slashes at him at the same time with both swords, ideally resulting in a cross-shaped wound.
- Picadura De Vela (Candle Sting, Rank 2, Precise Cut): The Marishi-Ten version of Picadura De Abeja. Thanks to the heat of her power, Picadura is able to cut through hard materials, even steel.
- Picadura De Vela (Candle Sting, Rank 2, Precise Cut): The Marishi-Ten version of Picadura De Abeja. Thanks to the heat of her power, Picadura is able to cut through hard materials, even steel.
- Cortar Las Hojas (Cutting Leaves, Rank 2, Flying Slash): To use this technique, Melosa raises both her swords over her head and slashes down in a way that the tips of the swords touch the ground. This results in two parallel 2m long air slashes flying towards the target that can hit anything within 15m² in front of her.
- Aletada (Wing Beat, Rank 2, Flying Slash): Variation. Instead of slashing horizontally, Melosa slashes sideways, back and forth so that the tips of her blades connect in front and behind her. This move results in the two airslashes forming a circle around her. It can be repeated multiple times, causing multiple circle-shaped airslashes that originate from her position and propagate like waves before dissolving. These waves can hit anything within 15m² around her.
- Rayos De Sol (Sunrays, Rank 2, Flying Slash): Melosa bends her arms so that there's a 90 degree angle in her elbows. Then she aims at the enemy and thrusts both weapons forward as if she wanted to stab the air. This results in two spear-like pink projectiles being hurled at her foe. These spears can fly about 30 meters before they eventually dissolve.
- Enjambre (Swarm, Rank 2, Flying Slash): Melosa slashes quickly multiple dozen times with just the tips of both her blades through the air, just moving her wrists. As a result a whole swarm of tiny airslashes shoot in the opponent's direction. These slashes can fly about 15 meters before they eventually dissolve.
- Paloma (Pidgeon, Rank 2, Flying Slash): Melosa puts the tips of both her blades together in front of her chest. Then she slashes with the left blade to the right and with the right one to the left. The result is a thick airslash in the shape of a big bird shooting at the enemy. This attack can fly about 25 meters before it eventually dissolves.
- Marishi-Ten (Rank 2 Overdrive):
Adds a passive Heat Aspect to all Close Combat Techniques.
Usually a very forgiving and nice person, even Melosa can be pushed over the edge. Should this happen, the Queen's wrath will manifest. The anger that has been building up inside her more and more over time finally takes on physical form: Marishi-Ten. To anyone looking at her, it would seem that a ball of red light appears inside of the pirate princess' chest that shines through her skin and makes her body glow red from the inside. Normally green hues turn into a mix of black and red fractal noise. Already pale skin becomes entirely ashen, like the skin of a corpse. With her back slightly bent down, like a predator ducking before jumping at its prey, Melosa must seem like a vengeful crazy demon.
This state, especially the aftermath, is extremely taxing on the Queen Bees body. On one hand, she wouldn't actually notice any injuries until her Aura wears off, before that she is way too focused on on getting her revenge to notice trivial things like a bullet hitting her stomach. On the other however, the only pain she feels is one that is so extreme that any outside injuries do indeed look trivial in comparison. Her chest feels like a literal miniature sun is sitting inside of it, burning inside her own body.
Yet, the actual effect of the Aura however is a different one. The feeling in her chest is not only a feeling. A mysterious source of heat sits where her lungs should be. Any bees living inside the Queen Pirate's hive immediately die a painful fiery death. But the heat is so great, it even radiates outside and forms a deadly 'heat bubble' roughly 1 meter around her in all directions. Bees inside the bubble fall to ashes, making her Devil Fruit abilities entirely useless. Not that she would be able to spend time controlling them anyway. Water attacks instantly vaporise, anything else quickly heats up over five seconds until it eventually catches fire if its made out of flammable material. Living beings can already catch a bad sunburn after 3 seconds. Living beings in general are encouraged to keep out unless they want to feel like touching a hot stove plate that is a hundred times hotter than a regular one.
At present, there is only about half a minute that Melosa's mind is still focused on letting her wrath out on the enemy before she comes to realise the incredible pain that the heat source inside of her makes her feel. She can only go about a full minute before it overwhelms her and she collapses on the ground screaming. The Aura persists for at least another minute before it finally vanishes. This drawback is such a drain on her body that even standing up and walking away becomes difficult, not to speak of further defending herself against anything.
Character's Story
"One day, when I'm older, I'll come visit you!"
Place of Birth: Acattopa, The Ciudadela Queendom, South Blue
Important People
Family
- Queen B. Grasa/Abejorro: Her mother, Queen B. Grasa is a noblewoman in Acattopa. After the death of her husband, Queen B. Enfermo, she has been in charge of the family and business. She loves her daughter, who is very dear to her and she doesn't want her to get hurt. She is willing to go to great lengths to prevent her from harm. To give her daughter a better chance when setting out to sea, she gave her the Hachi Hachi no Mi when she was 10. Currently Melosa is more angry than anything with her mother, as she has discovered her secret identity as the crimeboss Abejorro. Under this alias, Grasa had made a contract with the Shinobi from Rokkakku to supply them with resources as long as they keep her daughter safe should she ever visit the island. And by safe she meant holding her captive inside the village.
- Queen B. Enfermo: Her father, Queen B. Enferno, was Grasa's husband. He died from lung cancer when Melosa was 3 years old and left the company to his wife. Enferno was described to Melosa as a very fair man with a good heart.
Friends
- Shiyonin: Shiyonin was a 30 year old ray fishman servant of the Queen B. family, who became their slave when he wasn't able to pay back his debts. Melosa's father Enferno, who was a very kind man, had him work for them for 10 years, after which he would be free to go. Shiyonins 10 years started more or less simultaneously with Melosa's life and so he became her nanny and best friend, who looked after her and taught her about the world. After 10 years, Shiyonin left to Fishman Island again. Little Melosa promised him to come visit him one time. He is the reason she set out to sea.
Nakama
- Louisa McLeod: The most trusted addition to the Queen Pirates. Melosa respects the loudmouthed musician a lot, since Louisa took care of the ship for an entire month in Melosa's absence.
- Bendan Koga-Ryu: A shinobi teenage boy from the secret village on Aityaia Island. Melosa convinced the kid that the world outside the island is great fun to explore and the freedoms pirates enjoy are worth escaping. She cares greatly for him, like a big sister.
- La Colmena (MIA): Not just any ship, but a valuable crewmember. La Colmena's Klabautermann used to appear and even walk with the crew during the time of the war against El Roble. Since Melosa left her crew behind for a short time, La Colmena's spirit has not shown its face again.
- Chase "Dead-Eye" Perkins (MIA): The former First Mate of the Queen Pirates appeared to Melosa as a pretty likeable guy. Chase had a very charming attitude towards his captain. Upon their first meeting, he gained Melosa's interest with his ambitious dream of wanting to become the greatest shot in the world. He constantly adressed her with "princess" or other respectful titles, resulting in her epithet "Pirate Princess". The only time when he didn't was when he wanted to show how serious he was. Sadly, during the disaster that was El Roble's terrorist attack on Dauntaun, they lost Chase in the crowd. Melosa hopes that he will find his way back to them somewhere down the line.
- Shingetsu Asada (MIA): The former shipwright, Spy and First Mate of the Queen Pirates. After hearing about Shin's past, Melosa was blown away by how good of a life she had led in comparison to Shin and has made it her mission to somehow present Shin with friends and the happiness he deserves. Shin managed to greatly impress Melosa with his strength, as he took 3 guys out by himself without much of an injury. Because of this secure attitude, Melosa tended to turn to Shin for advice in times of despair. After Melosa left her crew for a while, Shin went looking for his Captain by himself and has yet to return.
- Nadikia Kind (MIA): The former doctor of the crew. This mermaid enjoyed great sympathy from Melosa, but also went looking for her Melosa on her own when she had left and has yet to return.
- Sparkles Evershine: The bounty hunter that scarred Melosa for life. Since her childhood, the girl was a huge fan of the idol, an admiration that quickly vanished when Sparkles tried to take her life. In the ensueing battle, she could barely do anything against the Plasma Human's Logia abilities and a mark was burned into her neck. In the end, they managed to stop the fighting and talk. Sparkles now believes to have found a friend in the Queen Pirate, while the other is deeply resentful and only sees her as a powerful weapon in times of need.
Enemies
- Lucotor Enano: As the (now former) Vice Captain and gunner under Jicote Alborotador, he was among the Queen Pirates' first enemies in Waq Waq. He lost to Chase Perkins, but survived and escaped with the rest of his crew, likely out for revenge.
- Roza Maleza: Roza is a high ranking member of El Roble, who approached the Queen Pirates on Dauntaun and tried to blackmail them into joining their terrorist organisation. Apparently, he studied the conflict between the Queen Pirates and El Roble and fled the island after it ended. For some reason, Melosa is extremely afraid of him due to his terrifying look and ice cold gentleman attitude after he just blew up dozens of civilians.
- Rezadora Raiz: The leader of El Roble, a terrorist order whose deeds got blamed on Melosa. In return, the Queen Pirates declared war on them and destroyed the organisation. Mel personally murdered Rezadora in a fit of rage, something she struggles with to this day.
- Lea Koshinawa: Lea is a Marine Lieutenant who is currently hunting the Queen Pirates for their supposed bombing attack on Dauntaun. Melosa obviously denied her being guilty, but still had to fight with Lea to defend herself. Their first confrontation went very badly, ending with Melosa dropping to the ground with a myriade of cuts all over her body. Melosa has made it her goal to prove her innocence to Lea next time they see each other.
Character Goals: Travel to Fishman Island and see her friend Shiyonin again
