WELCOME TO BON VOYAGE!Hiya newbie! So, I bet you're wondering how to get started. Well! The first thing you should do is read our Rules, so you know what does and doesn't go. Then, We should probably talk about...CHARACTER CREATIONAlright! Let’s get you set up to play, yeah? The first thing you’re going to need is our handy dandy Character Application Template. I’m sure you can fill out the sections relating to background, personality, and appearance, but should probably have you pick out your race from our available Playable Races. Races get some starting traits which allow your character to have a physical advantage in combat! You can make up your own traits (keep in mind they do have to be physical, no mental traits please) or you can pick some from About - Traits. Character also have some specific rules which can be found in General Character Rules as well as the description of our setting, so please be sure to read it!
Next up are Fighting Styles (FiSts) and Techniques. Fighting Styles are, well, your character’s unique style of fighting. Do they specialize in ranged combat? What about martial arts? Maybe they have a weird fighting style that has to do with a variety of gadgets and gizmos. The sky is the limit! You can have as many fighting styles as you like too so long as there’s not any overlap between them (the manageable number is 2-3). You can read up at the Dojo about how to create your FiSt and Techniques! If your fighting style uses weapons or other such Equipment, check out the Armory. That'll tell you everything you need to know about how to make your own Equipment, which isn't just limited to weapons! Fighting Styles, Techniques, and Equipment can all be applied for on your initial character application.
By now, you’ve noticed a price tag attached to a lot of things. The currency is called X-Poinz or XPz for short. Characters start with 300 XPz, which can be used to buy Techniques, Equipment, and Devil Fruits as well as upgrade to said Techniques and Equipment. It's a universal currency earned by turning in a completed thread for grading. It’s how your character can grow and become stronger. When you buy a Devil Fruit, Equipment, or an upgrade to anything that isn’t a Technique, you earn Rebate XPz. This special kind of XPz gives you something back for a big purchase and can be spent on further things. For example, if you buy Rank 1 Equipment, which costs 100 XPz, you get 50 rebate XPz back to spend! You can read more about the X-Poinz System. There’s also additional ways to earn a special kind of XPz called Account Rebate.
Ah, but I feel like I’m forgetting something... oh right!DEVIL FRUITSOh boy, Devil Fruits! Now, obviously, this section is only for those interested in making a Devil Fruit. To get started, you’ll want to look at the Basic Rules and Template for figuring out the ground rules. If you want to start with a Devil Fruit, you have the choice of the Paramecia, Zoan, Special Paramecia, and Ancient Zoan types. The other types are a little outside of your price range right now. You can of course wait to get a fruit until later. But let’s say you’ve got an idea for a fruit. You should probably check if it falls under one of the Restricted Abilities. If it does, you’ll have to come up with something else. If you need guidelines on what is and isn’t acceptable for each type, check out the guides for the Paramecia, Zoan, and Logia types. You can also brainstorm ideas on...DISCORDHey, hey! Come on down to our Discord! Members plot and can answer any additional questions you might have after reading this guide. It’s really good fun and we’d love you see you on Discord!CHARACTER PROGRESSION
This section is for those who have a thread or two under their belt. So, let's say you're done with a thread. How do you get XPz for all your hard work? Well, you have to get it graded! You can read All About Grading ! Once you've got a handle on it, take a look at the Grading Submission Guide and have a go at getting your thread graded and earn that XPz!
You can buy all sorts of things with XPz! New Techniques, upgraded Techniques, upgrades to your Fighting Styles and so much more. You'll find all of this information in the Dojo. You can also do the same for Equipment in the Armory. You can also purchase ships to carry you or your crew across the seas in the Shipyard!
If you're afoul of the law, you might wanna earn a bounty and put your name down as a serious enemy of the World Government. Fortunately for you, there's a whole How to Earn Bounties guide! It'll let you get a feel for what you need to do to get a bounty. Marines have a similar system via Marine Ranks. Marines earn Promotions instead of bounties.
Whether you're a marine, pirate, or anything in between, you are able to form Groups & Organizations or crews! These groups even earn XPz along with the characters in them that can be spent on ships or even NPCs! NPCs are like followers for a specific character or group. The NPC Agency has all the necessary information on how to purchase one for yourself!
Now, there's one thing we haven't addressed at all really, and that's Haki. That's because your character has to meet certain requirements to even attempt to unlock it. But, if you're curious or are ready to make your first steps into Haki, then Haki Development has all the necessary information.
