Pluto - 16Ara looked towards the boy after being asked the duration it’d take to vacate the people from the area. She wasn’t sure how one would even go about doing that when many such people were members of the Red Sparrows. It wasn’t like kind words from a stranger would be enough to convince them to move.
“One minute,” said the boy without hesitation.
“Ara and Rebecca will stay with me,” he stated in a protective manner, wishing to not be separated from these two.
The older girl blinked in surprise at what he just said. She figured that the boy intended to take on the burden of all the aspects, including the evacuation. But it was the manner of how he stated his desire for them to stay with him that surprised her. Ordinarily, Pluto preferred to act on his own, separate from anyone else.
Fear. Trauma.
For just a small duration of time that he had left, Ara and Rebecca had once been captured. The small opening of timing where they were separated had left a scar in his heart, and it made him realized a misconception. The safest place for them wasn’t far away from him but as close to him as possible where he could monitor and protect them from external forces.
The older girl leaned in and asked, “How do you plan to do that in just one minute?”
“All I need is to find the right timing and alignment of attack. Even if the floors aren’t completely vacant, I just need a split second when no one is standing along a single line of my attack. I can handle anyone standing below falling debris within twenty seconds. They might get a few bruises and scratches, but they’ll be fine. The number one source of death will be the point of collision to which I just need to make sure that no one is standing right up against certain windows of the main central tower.”
With an explosion, one would have to consider for a spherical radius of impact. With an air slash, one would only have to consider for a single flat plane that cuts across a building. From a three-dimensional problem to a two-dimensional problem, the geometry of the area of effect allowed for some leeway.
“And this should happen when Isaac is inside the greenhouse, right?”
“Yes.”
