As Gaiel and Selnom left the wrecked ship and swam across to the island, Gaiel riding Selnom, Gaiel was wondering what had happened. "Who beat them so easily..? We didn't even see a body of an enemy on the ship.. and why didn't they hurt us at all?" Gaiel thought and looked confused.
- "What are you thinking, Gai? You have a troubled look on your face." Selnom asked, noticing his friend's confusion.
- "It's just that.. that marine captain had nailed us both down in a flash, yet got his butt kicked so easily.. Who did that? Did you see anything, Sel?" Gaiel asked.
- "Actually, not much. All I know is that some people in weird cloaks came in and let us out. They didn't have the slightest intention of hurting us at all.. They just beat the guards and opened the cell's door. That's all. There was a fierce sea battle beforehand, though." Selnom said.
- "I see.. well if I hadn't hit my head on that wall, I'd have known more.. well. anyway. What's important is that we are free and well." Gaiel said, and decided to leave the marine ship incident behind.
- "Agreed." Selnom replied.
As the two finished their talk, they finally reached shore. It was a small beach with a lot of rocks around, yet beautiful in its own way. There wasn't a single soul around, but that didn't seem too weird to the duo at the time.
Not knowing where on earth they were, the two started looking around for some people, or something living for that matter. After walking for a few hours under the hot sun, it was finally sundown. As they were leaving a forest at the top of a tall hill, Gaiel, who reached the top first, shouted:
- "Finally... I see a town!! Come on, hurry up Sel!!"
- "Shut up... I'm not fit to stand under such heavy sunlight when I'm ashore, ok?!" Selnom said, panting as he reached the top.
Gaiel was right, there was a small town just about one or two kilometers ahead. They would finally catch onto some information about where they were. The two slowly walked to the town, on Selnom's pace. As they finally entered the first route, they noticed that the townspeople were hidden in their houses, blinds shut tight and even some fortification around the houses' entrances. "What is going on here..?" is what went through both Gaiel's and Selnom's minds. They looked at each other and knew what they were thinking: they had best keep their guard up. High up.
As they walked at the town's main street, they finally heard some voices coming from what seemed like a bar. They walked in and looked around: many shadowy figures were sitting on the chairs, and just as the two entered, the voices stopped. It was like they had frozen on their chairs. "What a not suspicious place.. not suspicious at all..." Selnom thought with a weird look on his face.
As they walked to the counter of the bar, they saw an old man standing behind, cleaning some glasses with a towel he had on his hands. He also had another towel on his right shoulder. Gaiel and Selnom put their hands on the bar, and Gaiel was the one that talked, since it was usual for people to be afraid of Selnom because of his Fishman lineage.
- "Hello sir, we are looking for some information.. We just...erm...shipwrecked here and do not really know where we are.. could you please tell us a bit about this place?" Gaiel said, looking the old guy in the eyes.
Meanwhile, Selnom was watching Gaiel's back, checking around all the shadowy figures sitting around at the bar, watching out for any suspicious movement.
