Today's Lucky item: Something made of wood
„Believe me, you look great Kyoukichi!“
Inari assured him and gave a strong, enthusiastic pat on the back of his friend, that let the scrawny teenager stumble forward.
„ ... “
Scowling, Rince turned around and shoot a glare at his childhood friend. Somehow – which actually meant „for a very good reason“ - the boy had a very hard time believing the young merchant with the foxy smile. He unconsciously rubbed his right ear piercings as he looked down on himself to evaluate the clothes again. They had been a generous present by the usually rather cheapskate Inari and that alone made Rince doubt the merchant's motive of giving them to him.
Going by the weather alone, the clothes were very much appropriate. Shorts and an aloha shirt fitted the tropical weather of Notice Island well... but the colors!!
There were just too many of them in a single piece of clothing for a sane mind to comprehend.
An ugly pink shirt with a green-brown palms as a motive, mixed with bright green shorts with blue and violet flowers as decoration, how much worse could it get?!
If it had been up to Rince, the boy would have chosen something dark without any decoration at all. Something unobtrusive that would let him blend into the background.
But then again, maybe a little color was needed to blend into the tropical background? At least the clothes were new, instead of tattered and falling apart like his only other set of clothing.
With a sigh he took his bokken into one Hand, picked up his leather bag and swung it over his shoulder, ready to head out and get a look at the island.
„How about you get your Den Den Mushi equipped with an actual receiver, so I can call you or you can call me in case you need help?“ The merchant pointed at the bag where he knew that Rince's pet Mushi Letty was sleeping. The little Den Den was not a baby anymore, but much smaller than most of its fellow snails, almost as if it had been stunted in its growth as much as her owner had been. Rince really loved her though, even though she served no function or purpose without the technological equipment that made long-distance calls possible.
„Hell no!“ he exclaimed and left the ship before Inari could say anything else. Leaving the merchant and his crew to unpack the wares and goods that they planned to sale on the Island.
At the end of the gangway, Bruce was already waiting for him. Impatient as always. The furball's triangular ears twitched with anger at the tardiness of his food-provider and although the white fur was long and covered the short little legs of the creature, Rince could imagine the haggis tapping its foot in an irritate manner. Although only the size of an apple, Bruce had the adventurous spirit and a drive for rivalry of a... well... something much bigger... like a seaking perhaps.
„All right, all right. I'm coming!“
It was time to get a look at the Island.
