Character Development
}“Please, refrain from giving me such praise. I’m nothing special, and I couldn’t have done it without…”~ Meifeng
Personality
-~-Graceful & Elegant
Bai Meifeng’s immediate aura is one of tranquil grace. From her movements to the way she speaks, it quickly becomes apparent to any observer that she has been raised to be a “proper” lady from birth. Her poise is one of elegance, and her speech as graceful and welcome to the ears as a cool summer’s breeze. Her strongest emotions are kept away from the public eye, honed into something sharp and biting when she lets loose, but otherwise tempered and steered elsewhere.
Emissary of Empathy
Though reserved, there is a side of Meifeng that is obvious. The emotions of others are especially potent upon her own state of mind; a natural empath. She will feel the anger in a person’s voice and stature, or smile when she sees others’ happiness. And while she picks up on these emotions more readily than some, she goes one step further. A diplomat of the emotional variety, Meifeng’s endeavours are more about putting words to one’s emotions than brash actions. Her first port of call is always to talk, aiming for mutual understanding between parties at odds.
Annoyingly Modest
This woman’s biggest character flaw is her modesty. Whenever praise is sent her way, you can be sure she will refute it and credit others in her stead. Flattery and gratefulness will get you nowhere in a hurry, unless you plan on giving her a pride-induced breakdown. Her ego is anything but inflated despite her status in a high-ranking family and, though not easily crushed, it’s also rather difficult to inspire confidence in somebody who would rather attribute things to others.
Honourable & Dignified
Meifeng is a woman of honour and dignity, particular that of others. When faced with a challenge, she would rather approach it fairly and justly, respecting the opposition regardless of their place on the ladder of the law. Every criminal deserves fair trial, regardless of whether or not they ask for it, and that has led her to see the duty of bounty hunting as something more politically driven than by money or bloodlust. A certain disdain for those who are in it for the wealth or for the fight exists within her mind, as she sees such approaches as ignominious.
Appearance
-~-Body Shape, Facial Features, Etc.
Standing at 5’7” (170 cm), Bai Meifeng is a woman of moderate stature and slender, delicate build. Creamy, near porcelain skin and a fair complexion lacks any sign of scar or blemish. Her body, from top to toe, has quite modest curvature, and a thin face with subtle features and celestial nose is accentuated by deep, sapphire blue eyes. Her hair is snowy white and allowed to grow quite lengthy, though it’s almost always styled in some way as to keep it tidy and contained; usually a single bun at the back of her crown. A consistency is a set of four curls or “tails” of hair – two which hang down over her shoulders, and the others stick upwards – which originate from the back of her head. When looked at from the right angle, this style is said to resemble a windmill’s arms.
The only notable mark upon Meifeng’s skin is usually hidden from view due to her clothing choices; a tattoo upon her left shoulder of a black dragon-like symbol.
Outfit & Accessories
Elegance and practicality are two ideals she strives for in code of dress. Her usual wardrobe selections include a red cheongsam, embroidered with golden stitching around the sleeves and hem, with a white floral pattern – like plum blossom upon branches – which follows the contours of the dress. This is combined with white trousers alongside red fabric shoes with white soles and gold lacing.

Fighting Styles
-~-Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Jiān (“Bird-Bird Fruit, Model: Jiān,” in Japanese)
Class “E”, 500 X-Poinz (Free 250/0 Used)
Focus – Zoan (Mythical): Transformation, Flight, Magnetic Bond
As a Jiān Sword (“Futagotoritō” lit. “Twin Bird Sword”), this weapon can transform into the twin birds that represent marriage, assuming either a “Half-Beast” or “Full-Beast” form. While transformed, this Devil Fruit’s host becomes individual backswords or birds which share a bond so powerful it can function as magnetic attraction to draw them back together. The birds cannot achieve flight without their partner beside it.
NB:– Meifeng has yet to obtain this weapon and Devil Fruit in-character, but the Devil Fruit has been purchased in the old system and is thus included in her X-Poinz Totals and profile.
Weaknesses:–
- Kairōseki (“Sea-Prism Stone”) saps the physical strength of the Ability User and prevents them from consciously controlling or activating their power.
- Submersion in water immobilises the Ability User and causes them to sink, disabling conscious power control.

While in this state, the sword becomes a matched pair of backswords – one with darker steel and the other with lighter steel. Each possesses a red hilt and golden cross-guard and pommel. The back side of the guard of each extends to become the feathered wing of the bird, with the leading flight feather becoming the blade. The leading side of the guards have a small beak and a single eye exists on the guard below the blade. The vague shape of the feet can be made out forming the hilt and pommel. The twinned blades are slightly shorter and lighter than the full sword, making them more readily usable in a one-handed style, and possess a slight curvature to them.- Full-Beast

In this state, the sword becomes a pair of birds akin in size and shape to Peafowl, though with no real sexual dimorphism as usually shown by the species. The male bird’s plumage is a glossy ebony, blending through silver and into white on the flight and tail feathers. The female’s plumage is instead ivory, showing the reverse of the male’s. Their legs and bills are red. The male forms the right half, having only a right eye and a right wing, while the female mirrors this to form the left half. Though capable of achieving flight in this form, the birds must use their bond to link themselves together first.

Tiānshàng de Tiānkōng (天上的天空 “Heavenly Skies,” in Chinese)
Class “D”, 200 X-Poinz (Free 125/125 Used)
Focus – Swordsmanship, Flow, Consecutive Attacks
A style of swordplay which revolves around swift strikes coupled with graceful agility, leading into a form that emphasises flowing movements. The style itself leaves no jagged edges or sudden breaks. Whether it be offensive or defensive in nature, any and all movements begin and end in such a way as to lead into one another without pause. A series of individual motions and techniques can be effortlessly blended together, seeming as one.
Aspects:–
- Bàofēngyǔ (暴风雨 “Tempest”)
The next level of Tiānshàng de Tiānkōng draws upon the secret techniques of swordsmanship, turning elegant and swift movements into the power necessary to generate the fabled “Flying Slash” techniques wielded by legends of the world.
Equipment:–
- Yáng Cái (洋财 “Windfall”)
Rank 0 Weapon, 0 X-Poinz
FiSt – Tiānshàng de Tiānkōng
A two-handed backsword somewhat similar to a sabre in design, but with a more gentle curve to both the blade and hilt. It possesses a hilt wrapped in red and with gold cross-guard and pommel. A small red tassel hangs from the pommel. The weapon is far more suited to cutting and warding than stabbing.
Techniques:–
- Liánhuā Wǔdǎo (莲花舞蹈 “Lotus Dance”)
Rank 1, 50 X-Poinz
FiSt – Tiānshàng de Tiānkōng
A combination attack consisting of a quick series of four flourishes, leaving little opportunity between them. Each strike is accompanied by a lengthy stride, making the blows a lot broader than their speed would have a target imagine. The gleam of the blade and the path it follows is said to resemble fresh raindrops sparkling on the petals of a twirling lotus blossom.- Chōngtiān Gēzi (冲天 “Soaring Dove”)
Rank 2, 125 X-Poinz (Free)
FiSt – Tiānshàng de Tiānkōng
Aspect – Bàofēngyǔ
Meifeng adopts a preparatory stance, holding her sword in such a way that the tip points towards the ground, with blade facing up and ahead and back resting upon her palm. From there, she steps forwards and pulls the sword back and towards the sky, running her palm across the back until it returns to grip the hilt. This movement causes her to pivot and a complete 360 degree rotation, finishing with a two-handed, skyward swing unleashing a “Flying Slash” at moderate range and power.

Background
}“Though my father wasn’t always there, his presence could still be stifling…”~ Meifeng– Meifeng was born the daughter and only child of the Bai Family, a noble family based in the West Blue. As such, she was raised from birth to be a woman of prestige, kept mostly segregated from the common masses and never allowed to stray far from her home without heavy supervision from at least one of her family’s servants. It cannot be said it was a poor life, however. Meifeng’s father, Bai Jingguo, ensured she had the best possible education, well-being and requirements growing up. In his stead, he assigned the family’s Head of Staff, Xun Yan, to fill the void that he knew he was often troubled to leave when business matters arose.
– At eight years old, Meifeng was allowed to leave the manor grounds for proper the first time in her life, under the vigilant care of Xun Yan. It was there that she met and quickly befriended a commoner girl of similar age by the name of Zhu Yanmei. Despite their difference in heritage, the two girls were quick to become near inseparable. It was only Meifeng’s father’s strictness that served to keep them divided, but when he wasn’t aware, Xun Yan was more than happy to allow the two girls to interact.
– It was around ten years later that the two girls, now young women, would be separated for the foreseeable future. Yanmei had always dreamed of braving the oceans as a pirate – a fact that Meifeng was not opposed to despite her family’s affiliation with the World Government. As far as she was concerned, Yanmei’s view of piracy was not the same as the criminals who sailed the seas. She knew Yanmei well enough to recognise that her goals were honest. She was in it for the adventure, the thrill of discovering that which was once lost, and to live a life that Meifeng somewhat envied – a life free of rules and restraints. Meeting at the coast that fateful evening, the two said their goodbyes, and made one last promise. That promise was sealed with a broken charm – two halves of the same whole.
– After Yanmei had left, Meifeng found a certain sense of emptiness and oppression. By now, Jingguo fully expected her to serve as a representative of her family, and she did that well, attending various events and social gatherings over the next few years. But there was something else she wished to pursue. Despite her father’s attempts at stopping it, Meifeng began training in the art of the sword, delving into her family history to learn about sacred techniques. In her research, she found her ancestors’ style and began to study it.
– At twenty-one years of age, Meifeng left home, leaving nothing but a thank you to Xun Yan and a letter for her father. Her first port of call was to purchase a sword, and from there she ventured out to pursue a new goal – a life of freedom that would set her on the path to chasing down Yanmei and still doing right. Bai Meifeng was now a bounty hunter!
