Hachi Hachi no Mi
English Name: Beehive Beehive Fruit
Classification: Paramecia
Owned By: Queen B. Melosa
Legacy Profile: Link
Appearance: The fruit resembles a real-life gooseberry in shape, but it is yellow with a dark brown spiral pattern. Instead of the smooth, hairy surface of a normal gooseberry, it has little black spikes coming out of it, all about 2mm long. They only grow out of the brown spirals though, while yellow area remains hairy and smooth.
Ability:
Hive Body:
The user's body turns into a beehive, that can be entered by bees through honeycomb-like holes in the user's palms. The user can emit pheromones, that she can use to lure bees to her location from all over the island she is on. Once entered, they start living inside the user and are kept alive with nutrients from food the user himself ate. The only way out is through the user's palms, which will only be opened for combat.
Zoan user's would be able to resist her ability, as they don't just listen to their instincts but would quickly be able to realize what's going on.
Manipulation of inhabitants:
Once the bees have entered her body, she can manipulate them to come out again and attack enemies or fly in certain formations to cover her. She does this by using special pheromones to make them come out, then giving them commands via something of the human equivalent to bee's dancing to communicate, a series of movements. This is one-way communication, the user had no way to recieve an answer from the bees. This is why it takes a long time to figure out which hand-movements trigger which attack.
Weaknesses:
Apart from the standart devilfruit weaknesses, the fruit is essentially completely useless on a winter island, where there are no bees around. Even bringing their own bees inside the hive-body of the user does not work on a winter island, as the insects cannot survive in the cold. Coldbased attacks in general will be very effective against the bees, as they would be killed immediately. On a desert island, bringing own bees is mandatory, though they won't be able to survive long outside of the user's body.
Smoke and wind makes the bees dissolve, as they cannot combat that. Should the user himself get exposed to a lot of smoke, the bees inside her body will start dying.
In addition, bees are a fairly weak opponent and only really work as a short distraction, as people above a mook level would only get annoyed by them, if anything.
