[/b] one of them shouted.
The sounds of chaos were growing louder. Imuka knew she was getting close to the rest of the Hard-Hats. From how close the sounds were in proximity to where they had their ship docked, she could tell they were making a retreat. It seemed like all of Loguetown had become riled up and banded together against them for whatever reason. The Gunner found herself staring down some barricades guarded by Marines. It seemed as though one of the Marines back at the docks was still alive and managed to contact other Marines as she made her way back to the streets. "It's her! It's their gunner! Fire at will!"
Shots bounced off of Imuka's armor as she loaded a magazine of HEI rounds and fired off one shot, which pierced through the barricade, and then created a large explosion as it detonated behind it. Marines hiding behind the barricades were incinerated as they were tossed around like ragdolls from the force of the explosion, along with the debris from the barricade. Imuka charged through the fire and smoke, straight towards the second barricade. She picked up more speed as she drew the Var back to the side, and swung across strongly. The weight of the weapon combined with the force at which she swung her weapon sliced and smashed through the barricade along with any unfortunate soldier behind it.
With the second barricade down, the only thing left to deal with was the final barricade. Of course, things were never easy. Imuka found herself staring down several multi-barrels of Gatling guns. She could tell from the rapid-firing from each of them. Quickly she held up the Var in front of her to block most of the shots. She then leaped up as high as she could before aiming the Var straight down and letting off another shot. The shell impacted the ground, punching through a little before exploding. The girl rode the shockwave up over the barricade, completely out of the line of fire. She aimed down once more and fired another round. She landed just as the explosion went off in a very cliched movie-esque style.
Imuka continued to navigate through Marine-laden streets in order to catch up with the rest of the Hard-Hats. The Gunner shot, slashed, and rammed through enemy defenses like a tank. The farther she kept going, the louder the shouts were growing. As she pressed on, some commotion ahead of her knew she she was very close by. She had reached the illuminated streets by now, and visibility was back to normal, at least for night time conditions. Getting even closer, she recognized one person surrounded by a mob of Marines and civilians. She heard some tidbits of what they were saying. It seemed like the rumors about Harley were true. He had successfully manipulated the citizens to follow some personality cult of his.
It was Taro, the musician, holding some weird cylinders in his hands. Ignoring that for now, she aimed the Var up into the air and pulled the second trigger. The loud and steady RRRAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT coming from the secondary barrel drowned out the commotion as civilians quickly scattered at the approaching tank girl. Several of the Marines surrounding Taro, however, had now turned to face her. Again she fired the machine gun that was now build into her weapon. Bullets wracked the bodies of the Marines that opposed her. Luckily for Taro he was out of her line of fire.
"There you are!" she shouted as she stood back-to-back with the musician. "I think everyone else is further up ahead. It sounds like we're all retreating back to the ship and getting the f*ck out of here." She looked around her. The concentration of Marines here was quite a lot, but nothing she couldn't handle. The added manpower from Taro would surely help. "I'll clear us a path. You take care of the guys on our tail," she told him. His axe-tar and whatever strange metal cylinders he was holding could help. If only she knew what they actually were. But now was not the time for speculation. The whole city was in an uproar as if they had kicked several the hornet's nest...well actually it was Torin who had set them off, but either way, Imuka knew they had to retreat or else they would get completely overrun.
Without so much as waiting for a word from him, she took off. It was well within his choice whether to follow her or not, but strength in numbers was going to play an important factor here, at least until they made it back to the ship. Imuka set about clearing out the Marines directly in front of her, firing the machine gun once again and mowing them down. She could not use the cannon here. There were buildings everywhere, and most likely civilians in them as well. Injured or dead Marines began to litter the street right in front of her as she pushed through the thick pockets of resistance that the Marines were putting up.
