The cannon went off. The sound was deafening to Kane since he was standing so close, even though he had attempted to block the sound by covering up his ears with his hands and had turned away. He flinched slightly and then quickly whirled around, looking out to see if his shot had done any damage. He saw the massive form of the Sea King shifting to the left, but other than that there was no cry of outrage at it being struck.
The Hoshi crew captain made a slight huffing noise of irritation at himself before he flew back over to the cannon. This wasn't what he was best at. It would have been better if he had been up on the deck punching the Sea King's brains out. But no, he was down here. Not that he didn't trust Amisi and Desert Punk to handle things on their own.
A moment later, however, their was a roar of pain and rage from the creature as something struck. Kane punched the air with his fist, a grin breaking out on his face. Surely enough, his crew (he still considered Desert Punk part of his crew even though she hadn't exactly agreed to it) and the stranger had managed to inflict some sort of injury upon the beast. Kane began to ready the cannon again, listening intently to the shots from above him, realizing that now Desert Punk had actually joined in with her shotgun. Now they were going to make a dent in that Sea King, that was for sure.
There was then a splash and Kane witnessed the Sea King diving underwater with another sound of pain issuing out of its monstrous mouth, more like a moan than anything. Kane was just pulling out the bagged charge for the second time when the Sea King broke through again. It's massive form coming up was enough to cause great waves in the water which rocked the boat dangerously and slid them to the side in the ocean. Kane managed to stand his ground by using the cannon as a support.
Once the steadyness of the boat resumed, as much as a boat could steady, Kane began to adjust the cannon. This time he was excedingly accurate in his aiming. It took him a long time to get it just where he wanted, however. Once he struck the fuse though he felt a whole lot more confident. This one was going to hit. This one would be the deciding factor in their victory or loss. Pressing his hands to the sides of his head to cover the noise again, Kane retreated away from the weapon just before it went off.
This time the cannon ball flew through the air and struck its target dead center, right in the belly as the Sea King rose out of the water and tried to take a bite out of the boat. Another roar, this time more pain and fear, sounded from the Goldfish as it twisted in the water and wiggled about. Clearly the cannon ball had done an exceedingly good amount of damage to it. Still, it wasn't enough. The Sea King roared again, this time threateningly. Kane turned to get another cannon ball to load up the next shot... only to realize that he had used their last one up. That was their last one. They had wasted it on a fish.
A stern expression on his face, which was quite different from how he had acted all that day, Kane started for the stairs and sped up them in a flash of gold, bursting through the door and almost taking it off its hinges in the process. There came a loud roar from the Sea King who was still undetered by having been struck by the shot from the cannon. "That's enough out of you!" said Kane fiercely. Anyone that hadn't seen this side of him would have been absolutely shocked most likely by his sudden shift in tone. He didn't sound happy in the least bit.
Literally jumping up into the air a good ten feet or so in a blur of golden light, Kane twisted himself in the air and spun around so that his face was pointed toward the Sea King, his arms outstretched and hands balled into fists. He moved so quickly though that it was hard to see the details of how his body was positioned until he collided fists first into the creature's already injured face. There was a sound and smell of something scorching under intense heat, much as there had been with Ike's attack.
The seventeen year old then flipped backward and barely managed to land on top of the boat's railing. That was when he tipped dangerously to the side, closer to the water. A look of panic for once appeared on his face. He hadn't acted while thinking about the consequences which was typical of him. That was when he lot his balance completely and started to fall toward the sea below. Once he hit the water he knew that he would sink like a hammer.
(Yay, Kane fought! Booyah!)
