Appearance:– This Devil Fruit was large, pear-shaped fruit similar to a gourd. Before it was eaten, it had chalky orange skin marked with the signature spirals of Devil Fruits, with a smooth and lumpy texture. The stalk was simple, green in colour, with a distinct “T”-shape. According to Bryony, it was bitter like raw cabbage with a slight sweet aftertaste.

This variant of the Hito Hito no Mi turned Bryony into a Mandrake Human (“Mandoreiku Ningen”), granting her access to the following abilities…

• ^{Transformation (“Half-Beast” & “Full-Beast”)
  Bryony can transform herself into “Half-Beast” and “Full-Beast” forms. In her “Half-Beast” form, she experiences a slight increase in size (25%), with her flesh becoming pale and hair transforming into leafy growths. In this state, the user’s extremities become flexible and comparable to the roots of plants, complete with thin hairs designed to absorb moisture. Additional vegetation sprouts around the pelvis, upper arms and collar, with light pink-purple petals also included around the wrists and hair. In “Full-Beast” form, Bryony’s body experiences shrinkage, becoming childlike in proportion and resembling a tuber, with small hairs to absorb moisture and an assortment of large leaves in place of hair.}

  While legends of the Mandrake purport its cry to be fatal to those who hear it, the Hito Hito no Mi’s vocal abilities are more diverse. Unusual energies contained within the cries of the user cause psychotropic effects in the bodies of those within their effective range, having a psychological impact. This results in delirium and other hallucinations, sensations and effects – the exact forms of which are associated with the type of cry generated. For example, a pained scream inflicts agony, while a loud yawn induces drowsiness. The concentrated energy has a limited range and, in addition, appears as a colourful aura.}

  Bryony can extend her extremities – specifically her fingers and toes – to serve as roots to pierce the earth, spreading a highly manipulable network of sensory tendrils. These roots allow for the manipulation of objects at range, the absorption of moisture, and the ability to sense the environment through the medium of touch at the cost of limiting the Ability User’s movements. By extension, this also provides the user with limited burrowing capabilities.}

Weaknesses:–

• ^{Kairōseki (“Sea-Prism Stone”) saps the physical strength of the Ability User and prevents them from consciously controlling or activating their power.}
• ^{Submersion in water immobilises the Ability User and causes them to sink, disabling conscious power control.}
• ^{The Ability User’s hypnotic vocal effects are easily negated; simply obstructing their mouth or plugging one’s ears massively reduces the effectiveness of their cries. Furthermore, the special sound waves cannot pass through solid materials, so even if one can hear the Ability User’s voice, they can avoid influence by hiding behind sufficient cover.}
• ^{Roots generated via the Mandrake are still a part of the Ability User’s overall body in a similar way to how a Logia eater’s form functions, so use of Kairōseki or Busōshoku Haki is still an effective means of defending against the roots. Furthermore, the roots require stability else they become difficult to manipulate properly at greater reaches, so keeping the Ability User from the ground limits their effectiveness at range.}
