I wonder how this will go. No I shouldn't think about it'll only make me more nervous ... ok then, that aside I should probably get the papers ready for our entrance ... Syphalia's hand pushed open the door to the bar where she was meeting up with Garuda. Scanning the bar, she looked for the man she had told would be here to prepare certain documents for her. Realizing she had no idea what he looked like she thought sheepishly about her naivety in this situation. No matter, if there was someone who knew who he was she would be able to find out. And there was one obvious suspect for who would know in every bar, the bartender.
The bartender was a man to be revered. Silent, they were the secret gatherers of information, they heard the stories from every drunk man and generally knew the goings-on of anything in a town. They knew the people of their bar like the back of their hand. It was something she had come to accept after many run-ins with barkeeps who knew more than she thought they should. So walking forward she went straight through the bar and up to the counter where the barkeep met her.
"Looking for something to drink lass? Or perhaps something else?" He asked, one eye assessed her running up and down her outfit and the other staring straight at her. In his hands a glass was being dried with a piece of cloth. Syphalia spoke seriously, "Well both. But I'll start with a soda, I'd take something stronger but I've got some work to do." Giving a smile for good measure she stood there waiting for her drink.
The bartender paused for a second and then placed the glass he was drying on the counter. Reaching under the counter the bartender pulled a large barrel onto the counter. Popping open a plug on the barrel he began to pour it into the glass. A dark brownish liquid that fizzed slightly slid out of the barrel and into the glass. When it was filled an appropriate he placed the barrel back on the ground and plugged it once again. "Well here's your drink. What else did you want to know?" The man asked with a smile. Like all bartenders she could feel that sense welling within her that this was a good man to talk to. She found that bartenders had that feeling in general. It opened lips that it really shouldn't.
That being said this specific question didn't really have any problems to it, so she was comfortable asking it anyways. "Can you point me to the manager of construction force for the Marine Base I heard that he could be found here. I'm looking to make a little beri." Syphalia stated as honestly as she could. It was a pretty honest answer with only the part at the end actually being a small lie. The bartender stared at her for a second, he was probably wondering whether a small girl such as her was up to such a task. Probably figuring it was best not to ask he pointed to a pot-bellied man who was laughing at a table with two others. "That'll be him right there. Seems to be in a jolly mood, I wish you luck with your adventures."
Syphalia thanked him, dropping a little extra beri on the counter for good measure. It was good to stay on the good side of bartenders. Picking up her glass she sipped it slightly and walked over to the manager. She moved straight towards them trying to make it rather obvious that she was trying to get up to talk to them. The manager looked up at her as she approached him. "Do you need something miss?" He sounded curious, probably wasn't approached by small, young-looking girls like herself.
"I'm looking for some work. For myself and a friend of mine. I heard that you were hiring people and was wondering if we could fill some working positions for you." The manager looked at her, his face had hardened a little "This kind of work is no place for young girls like yourself. The construction business is for the strong and only the strong." The voice sounded like he was pitying her a little. Feeling slightly indignant she walked up to one of the men he was sitting with. Grabbing the back of his collar with one hand she pulled up. While she was weak in terms of some people she knew in comparison to normal people she was far beyond the average. She lifted the man straight up into the air. Holding him in the air for a few seconds she gently placed him back down into his seat.
"Strong enough for you?" Syphalia said with a confident smile spreading across her face. Fear spread across the man's face. "So about that job." Syphalia said making a wicked smile as she tried to scare him into it.
"UHhh ... yes yes of course." the man stammered out. "Here are some papers, they'll get you onto base, just tell them you are here to work on the base." The man hurriedly pulled some small papers out of his coat pocket. Handing them to Syphalia she could see the papers and his hand trembling with fear. Grabbing them she went back to the bar counter to wait for Garuda.
Now everything was ready, she just needed him.
