Name of Island: Nuovo Romano
Size of Island: Small Advanced Island
Location: North Blue, northeast of the Holy Remunun Empire
Flora and Fauna: The island of New Remanus was a hardy environment filled with forests and green life. It’s industrious inhabitants have thinned the forests down but outside of its inhabited areas, there are still dense forests filled with a variety of animals.
Peaboar- A strange kind of brightly coloured wild boar, these creatures are light blue and have a mane that looks a lot like peacock feathers! Unlike the peacock though, the mane is to warn away predators and challengers, rather than for mating, as both sexes have them.
Crimson Moose- A scary looking moose that can grow up to the size of a Rhino, with blood red fur!
Crocowolf- A unique kind of wolf that hunts predominantly by swimming! Sneaking into lakes, this wolf has great lung capacity and packs can lie in wait for up to ten minutes under the surface of the water, wating for an animal to drink, then all diving out to attack it.
Inhabitants: The inhabitants of this island are for a large part, migrants from the nearby Remunus. After claiming the land for their own, ten years ago, the Remunucians promoted a campaign to have many citizens expand their empire by emigrating to this land. Thanks to an excellent evacuation plan, only the stubborn remnants of the former inhabitants remain.
The lifestyle of Nuevo Romano is quite advanced, with steam technology offering great convenience for its peoples in the form of transportation and machinery.
NPCS: Marquis Cassius- The current official appointed to manage Nuovo Remunus, he is under the command of the Emperor but is more a friend of the prince, Captainus.
Colonel Brutus- Commander of the Remunician Army stationed on Nuovo Romano and friend of Prince Captainus, between him and Julius they make sure that the island is under the Prince’s control.
Town(s)/Village(s)/City or Cities: New Naso City- The capital of Nuovo Romano, being claimed from the Alder Kingdom, it’s structure is very different from those found in the other island of the Remunun Empire, being much more modern brick built buildings. Only the palace that the Marquis inhabitants returns to the style of the Remunun Empire, as the original one was destroyed during the Remun-Adler war. It was originally called Adlerden.
Augusteria- A port town originally called Wasserseite, it features great shipyards that churn out steam powered ships for the World Government.
Missions: Stop Those Saboteurs!
Marines, word is that Revolutionaries have infiltrated Augusteria Shipyards and are sabotaging our production! Get in there and arrest those guys for a nice steam-powered gadget of your choice!
Island History: Nuovo Romano, or the Kingdom or Adler as it has historically been known was founded five hundred years ago by a group of settlers from the Lyneel Kingdom. Their leader, Adler Lyne, was actually a relative of the Lyneelian family, who tried to rally a challenge for the throne but was quelled before it happened. The then Lyneelian Monarchy banished him from the Lyneel, and his supporters spent two years wandering the North Blue oceans before they landed on a then uninhabited island.
Adler couldn’t believe his luck; he had found a supposed paradise that nobody had discovered yet, so he quickly set up his own Kingdom here. The reasons for the islands lack of inhabitants was partly down to the scary and dangerous creatures that lived there, and also due to its location. Being so close to the Republic of Rem, many people just assumed it was part of their lands.
At first the going was tough, the people were efficient and industrious, but they were inhibited greatly by the island that Adler had once called a paradise. They would try and fetch water only to be dragged to their deaths by Crocowolves, The lucky few that escaped that fate would then have to navigate the large forests, only to be chased away by the Peaboars and Crimson Moose that inhabited them. The early settlement of Adlerden endured ten hard years of life before the Lyneelian crown changed hands to someone more sympathetic monarch to Adler.
After frantic begging, regular aid was sent to the King of Adler and his inhabitants, on the strict understanding that Lyne would never again set foot in the Lyneelian court and cling to the king’s leg while crying. It was a move of desperation, but it paid off. Gradually, the people of the Adler with the help of Lyneel managed to adapt to their lifestyle, and one hundred years after his death, the kingdom that Adler had sought was finally coming to fruition.
Relatively secure in their lifestyles, but still worried about their prospects, the Adlerians focused on developing better technology for themselves. At first their progress was slow, even foolish such as trying to make massive ballista’s that shot axes to cut down trees, many people were killed by misfires. Over three hundred years, after much trial and error, the inventive and industrious people started to iron out the kinks in some of their wacky designs and catch up with their surroundings in their industrialism. The abundance of tree’s therefore firewood gave them the opportunity to develop fire based systems of machinery, and a multitude of burning capitals later, the Kingdom of Adler had developed their own steam engine.
The power of steam was quickly adapted to everyday use, making machinery systems for transport, food production, textile and ironware creation, from starting out as a desperate colony, the island of Adler had become a leader of technological advances in its area. However, advancement isn’t without its admirers, and those who are envious. The nearby Rem Republic had long ago become the Remunun Empire, once affording the small island it’s protection, it would now become it’s aggressor.
Ten years ago, an assassination attempt on the Remunun Emperor, Romano Naso, would erroneously be reported as the work of the Adlerians. The story goes that the Kingdom of Adler wanted to expand its territories (Which would be absurd considering they were still barely inhabiting the small island they possessed), and had decided that taking advantage of a country grieving a beloved ruler would be the best way to steal it’s lands. The King of Adler, Duran Reichart, vehemently denied such accusations, but his disavowal fell on deaf ears. The Empire had the World Government as it’s trusted ally, and other nations were too scared to stand with them.
Not wanting his people to suffer, the cunning king entered into peace negotiations. He knew that there was only now an incredibly small chance of war being avoided, so he instead attempted to stall the war as best he could. While doing this, using his technological advancements, the King built an evacuation force large enough to carry all the residents of Adler away from the island. He had long know that he would never be able to build an army to challenge Remunun, but could build transport.
However, to his disadvantage, the Remunun’s were tipped off to his activities, and thinking he was building warships, immediately invaded. Duran had no time to finish his evacuation plan, but his ships were ready. He handed over the crown to his son, the then fifteen year old Gilbert, and took a group of his most trusted loyalists with him to buy the time to get the evacuation done. For the most part, the inhabitants of Adler evacuated, but some stubborn individuals remained. Having done his best, Gilbert fled with the Adlerian Nation in advanced steam ships, into hiding in the Grand Line.
By this time, only Duran himself and a handful of loyalists remained alive, retreating into the Palace of Adlerden. The last of his men slaughtered by the overwhelming might wielded by the Remunun Empire, Duran defiantly stood alone in his throne room as the army entered. Fatally wounded, Duran blew the palace away with him inside, a final act of rebelliousness against those who sought to overpower him, and with that the island where the Kingdom of Adler once stood, became the territory of the Remunun Empire…
