}Personality
Idealistic Pacifist
Bel hates violence. She’d much rather talk through disputes than indulge in actual fighting or violence. She can and will defend herself if she is attacked, but she truly believes that deep down, all conflicts can be sorted out by talking it out, appealing to people’s better natures, or even by singing through their frustrations.
Conflict Avoidant
Bel’s coping mechanism is that she doesn’t have a coping mechanism! She intentionally avoids talking about her own feelings when she’s feeling any amount of anxiety or stress. She buries it deep inside and tries very much not to think about it. She also avoids physical conflicts if she can help it. When it is clear that a peaceful option isn’t possible, Bel will run away. This can sometimes prevent her from forming deep bonds with others as she’s totally unwilling to indulge in the deeper unpleasant feelings that she’s bottled up inside.
Forcefully Positive
A true force of positivity, there’s practically nothing that can wipe away the smile on Bel’s face, mostly because she forces it to be there no matter what. She tackles the day with extreme, iron-fisted positivity, trying to bend the day to her will to be a good, happy, and fun one. She’s cheerful to the point of being more than a little excessive. But, she prefers to revel in the good times rather than linger on the bad ones, no matter the personal cost.
Undiscerning Kleptomaniac
Possessed by an unquenchable need to pilfer that which does not belong to her, Bel cannot help herself. She steals everything that catches her eye, and it doesn’t take much to do so. From glittering treasure to just actual junk, it all appeals to Bel. She needs to steal it. She needs it. She’ll give up her treasures if it is really necessary, but it can take some convincing, and there’s no promise that she won’t just steal it again compulsively. She honestly can’t help herself, a switch flips in her brain, and she just becomes a little, thievin’, trash gremlin.
Hyper-Adventurous Spirit
Excitable is a word that doesn’t quite capture the intensity of Bel’s hyperactive adventurous spirit. She has a hopeless romantic ideal of traveling and adventure on the high seas or delving through deep jungles, ruins, and ancient, crumbling dungeons. She cannot contain herself, wiggling with extreme glee as she explores the world. This much energy can be a lot for others to deal with, but she approaches most things in life with at least some degree of hyperactive energy.
Appearance
Bel has a rather unique multicolored appearance. Her hair is pink from the top and blue at the bottom. Her pale white skin stands in sharp contrast to her orange-purple eyes. The main body of her tail is yellow, darkening into orange near the spine. Protruding from her tail are many leafy green spines that serve the dual purpose of camouflage while underwater, and also being sharp enough to hurt. Along her sides and spine are white bony plates rimmed with a reddish purple color.
For wardrobe, Bel tends to wear big comfy jackets that look almost too large for her and short shirts that show off her midriff. It’s more that she doesn’t like anything touching her belly as it feels uncomfortable.

Crazy Rainbow
Focus: Water Manipulation, Fishing Pole, Hand-to-Hand
Description:
A fighting style that Bel developed completely on her own, Crazy Rainbow focuses on Bel's strengths: her ability to manipulate water, her natural strength, and her fishing pole skills. She combines them all together to beat down her foes and barrel through the opposition with pluck and just a little luck. A lot of her focus is on mobility, attempting to move around on land at least half as well as she does in the sea.

}Eye for Treasure
Tier ★
Sight
Bel has an extremely keen eye both underwater and in the air. This allows her to spot things from much further away than an ordinary person and in greater detail. Her dark vision is also particularly good, able to make out details in almost pitch blackness.
Sea Dragon Swiftness
Tier ★
Swim Speed
Like most mermaids, Bel is an incredibly swift swimmer. She can dart through the water just like a fish at speeds ordinary people could never hope to achieve. She loves to race the sea life, zooming around wild and free. No one can touch her while she’s in the sea! Or so she’d like to think, anyway.
Leafy Armor
Tier ★
Toughness
Through some of her own natural toughness and her Leafy Sea Dragon heritage, Bel is very tough. She can withstand a lot of things that would cripple or injure an ordinary person. Her tail, especially, is particularly durable due to the bony plates that protect it.
April Showers
Tier ★
Water Manipulation
Bel always had a talent for water manipulation. She picked it up when she was very young after seeing her mom use it to clean some dishes. Her favorite thing to do was use it to create a fine mist from splashes and make rainbows. Her skill has only increased as she’s gotten older, now able to use water as a weapon in battle or in other creative ways.
Rainbow Burst
Tier ★
Water Pressure Explosions
By increasing the water pressure of the water she is manipulating to ridiculous levels, Bel can cause explosions using water alone! She can use these explosions against enemies or the environment alike, blasting away anything that gets too close. These explosions also have enough force to propel her through the air, giving her an extra boost or two while in midair.

Line Strength
Green April
}Fairly unremarkable at first glance, the Green April resembles a long green pole that tapers to a point at the top. Bel has since added a reel and fishing line to it to make it function as a fishing pole. It is sturdy enough to hold Bel’s weight but is also flexible enough to bend and launch her off as she pole vaults around. The Green April is sharp enough at its tip to be used as a spear, allowing it to function readily as a weapon if need be.
First Green of Spring
Tier ★
Popgreen: Rapid Growth
Green April possesses the trademark rapid growth that popgreens possess. This allows the weapon to extend into quite a long pole or contract back to its normal size at the user’s behest. This rapid growth also means that if it is cut, it can simply regrow back to its old length and size.
Life Line
Tier ★
Line Strength
The fishing line on Green April is extremely strong and will not snap under pressure. This line isn’t infallible, but it can bear some incredible weights before breaking. It has a bit of stretch to it and a lot of flexibility, which allows it to be used for a variety of purposes outside of just fishing.

Background
}Bel was born to Fisher Indy, a Fishman archeologist, and Fisher Aura, a Mermaid merchant. They lived happily on an island within Paradise called Coral Grove. Coral Grove was supported on a foundation of coral and stone. The island’s underside was riddled with many underwater pathways and caves that lead out to ponds and the ocean itself. A dense kelp forest provided ample cover for the various sea creatures and original denizens of Coral Grove. Mangroves from the Sabaody Archipelago were transplanted into Coral Grove and started proliferating. While not nearly as large as the mangroves on Sabaody, these mangroves provide shade from the sun and the unique atmosphere for bubble coating and bubble coral to grow.
Aura and Indy were always hyper protective of Bel as she grew despite their happiness. They feared something bad might happen to her. When Bel was five, she learned about her older sibling that hadn’t made it from her godfather Sanada Doji after hearing her parents talk about a sibling that she hadn’t met. Doji explained that losing her siblings made her parents very sad sometimes, but that they loved her more than anything. They were just scared that something would happen to her too. Bel did her best to let her parents know that she loved them so much and wouldn’t do anything to worry them. However, as a child, she still did make them worry regardless.
An adventurous child, Bel explored all over Coral Grove, ducking through its dense kelp forests and spelunking through underwater caverns. She developed her strength so that she could explore on land too! She could pull herself around without too much trouble, although her favorite way of getting around was holding her tail and rolling end over end like a wheel. She got her fair share of cuts and bruises doing this, but she was a tough kid. She never cried. Always smiled and laughed. She loved her family, even if it was small.
Her dad, Indy, would often leave on expeditions to exotic, foreign lands and bring back souvenirs that Bel would treasure. From the dustiest of rocks to a rusty, metal key to what might have been actual artifacts from her dad’s adventures, Bel loved them all. She had a particular fascination with old keys, imagining what they might open. A door to another world? A chest full of gold and gems and other sorts of treasure? The possibilities were endless. She couldn’t stand it.
For her tenth birthday, her dad brought back a particularly unique artifact. Worlds apart from the treasures before (which were mostly junk, in truth), this was a bonafide treasure from the New World! It was a long green pole that looked almost alive - because it was. Her dad explained that it was a type of weapon that could grow just like a mangrove tree and that it was named ‘Green April’!
Bel almost didn’t believe it, but her dad showed it off before her eyes. It wasn’t long before Doji taught her how to use it, and she implemented her own unique style with it. She used it to pole vault and get around a bit better on land. She converted it into a fishing rod so that she could use it to swing from the branches of the mangroves or just catch something to eat. She had a blast with it. Her mom and dad watched with some amount of concern, at first, but soon settled in and just warned her to be careful. It was a peaceful life.
A life that would soon change. When Bel was fourteen, her father departed on one of his expeditions like usual. Only, unlike usual, he would not return. He died on the expedition with only Doji returning with bad news. Bel was heartbroken, but she tried her best not to let it show when her mom unleashed a wail unlike anything Bel had heard from her before. Her mother grew ill shortly afterward, seldom venturing far from bed.
Bel picked up the slack. She did the chores, cooked, cleaned, and took care of her mother with Doji’s help. And, for a while, it did seem like her mom was getting better. She picked herself up and started keeping up the house with Bel and Doji’s help. Bel was always cautious though and always tried to surprise her mom by doing chores or cooking dinner as a surprise. Bel’s mom would get better and worse and then better again over the course of the next few years until, finally, she passed away in her sleep after Bel’s seventeenth birthday.
Bel, for the first time, allowed herself to grieve her father and mother’s passing. All of the grief that she’d been holding inside spilled out like a waterfall, tumbling and bubbling without signs of stopping. Once she had cried all the tears she had, Bel sat and stared at the sunset for a long moment. She had always begged her dad to let her go on an expedition with him. She had always longed for a life full of wonder, exploration, and treasure. Maybe, to honor him and her own dreams, she would leave on an expedition of her own. The greatest expedition in the world!
More than anything, Bel had always wanted to find the world’s most legendary treasure, the One Piece. To find it, she would surely have to travel all across the sea. She’d visit strange and exciting lands. She would eat weird foods! She’d find treasures and share stories with all sorts of different people and places. She would become the Pirate King! Yeah. That was a good dream. A life filled with adventure and no regrets. A life that would make her happy as her parents cheered her on from the afterlife. Yeah. She could do it!
So, Bel packed everything that she could carry up. Green April, of course, but food and supplies also as well as a small collection of her treasures and a picture of her mom and dad. Her dad had always said something about a log pose and how you needed one to get anywhere in the Grand Line, but she wasn’t sure where to get one. Doji would probably know, but he might also be against her setting out on a dangerous quest like this. She had to be sneaky.
She was very bad at being sneaky. Doji almost immediately sniffed out that something was up, but Bel skillfully and expertly (in her mind) dodged the topic. Doji even had a log pose! It was all coming together. So, in the dead of night, Bel rifled through her dad’s old possessions and found his old log pose. She wasn’t sure if it still worked or even where it was pointing to, but she didn’t care! She raced out to her dad’s old sloop and worked to set sail for new horizons and new adventures! She would become the Pirate King and find the One Piece for herself! As well as all the treasures along the way!
