Personnel File
}Personality
Standoffish
Blanchette could be best described as cold and aloof. She never lets herself develop attachments to others and holds other people at arm’s length. She’s terribly afraid of growing close to someone only to lose them once again. As a result, she just chooses not to get close to anyone, trying everyone with the same cool indifference.
Kid at Heart
Never really having had a chance to enjoy her childhood, Blanchette finds wonder in some things that others might find mundane or silly. Despite her aloofness, she gets easily excited. She loves sweets, never having had the chance to eat many growing up. She adores bright colors and bright lights. Toys, theme parks, shows, and everything else just make her eyes light up with excitement.
Survivor’s Guilt
Blanchette hates herself and believes her life to be worth very little. It was her fault that her mother died. It was her fault that Captain Moody lost his arm. And, it was probably her fault that he and the others were captured and taken to Impel Down. This overriding sense of guilt informs each of her decisions and is a constant weight on her shoulders. She’d rather die than hurt or inconvenience those she cares about.
Savvy
Time aboard and ship and a mentorship under a renowned pirate captain have given Blanchette a wealth of practical knowledge. She knows how to defend herself, perform most tasks aboard a ship in some basic shape or form, and, perhaps most importantly, how to navigate and draw maps. She’s good at reading people, knowing when a situation is taking a turn for the worse. She’s also a great haggler and was responsible for a lot of the crew’s funds when she was with Captain Moody.
Loyal
To those she’s loyal to, Blanchette is incredibly warm and kind. She might be a bit sassy to them, but that’s all to mask just how much she cares for her friends. She’ll stand by them no matter what and go to the ends of the earth for them. Once you get past Blanchette’s icy shell, she’s just someone who really wants to be loved and loves deeply.
Appearance
With pale skin and reddish pink eyes, Blanchette cuts a striking figure despite standing at only 5’7” (171 cm). Her messy black hair has fiery pink highlights and underlights scattered throughout it. Emblazoned on her chest in a deep red, she has the tattoo of her former pirate crew. Blanchette typically wears clothes that are loose and easy to move around in but is rarely seen without her red hood and cloak.

Devil Fruit
}Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Raiju
This Devil Fruit resembles a dark blue kalabash. The bottom of the fruit is wider than the upper portion. Dark swirling patterns that look like storm clouds are on the surface of the fruits while bright blue glowing lightning bolt patterns zigzag through the middle. The stem is also an electric blue that is shaped like a lightning bolt from the T in the stem. The taste of this fruit is foul, akin to ozone.
Thunder Beast
Tier ★
Mythical Lightning Generation
The mythical Raiju is capable of generating an otherworldly lightning that can phase through obstacles like a ghost. This ethereal lightning can be projected in a variety of shapes such as bolts, balls, blades, and much more. As the lightning passes through something, the Devil Fruit user can determine whether or not the lightning has any effect.
Ball Lightning
Tier ★
Mythical Lightning Transformation
The mythical Raiju is capable of becoming lightning itself. It inherits the properties of its mythical lightning, able to phase through solid objects like a ghost. This allows them to avoid attack while transformed. Also in this form, they can change their shape and size, able to become a thin wire of electricity or a giant ball lightning.
Forms
Beast Form
Tier ★
Size
The mythical Raiju has a unique countenance, appearing draconic, lupine, and feline all at once. Scales run down the length of its body with larger spikes in neat rows that protrude when charged with electricity. Huge claws, two large horns, and fangs all yield a fearsome appearance. It has a long, wide tail with two rows of spikes running down it, making it appear sometimes like it has two tails. Dense, coarse fur runs down its back and legs, which always delivers a static shock to the touch. The mythical Raiju is massive, towering as tall as a giant. This added weight adds considerable force to the Devil Fruit user’s blows.
Hybrid Form
Tier ★
Strength
In their half beast form, the Devil Fruit user assumes a hybrid of their original and mythical Raiju forms. Blanchette grows fearsome claws on her hands and feet. Scales and tufts of coarse fur run down her body. Her legs become digitigrade, and she grows horns and a tail. Her face becomes markedly lupine, her overall appearance resembling that of a werewolf.

Background
}Blanchette’s early life was filled with a lot of moving around and traveling. Her mother was a fortune teller who taught Blanchette her craft. All of this moving around meant that Blanchette’s mother was basically her whole world. She didn’t have many friends, but she felt like she didn’t need any, and her mother warned her to keep her third eye hidden and stay away from strangers. It was a suffocatingly sheltered life, but Blanchette was much too young to really notice.
One day, she went out to play and others saw her third eye. Blanchette made them promise not to tell, and the kids played together happily until it was time to go home. Unfortunately for Blanchette, this had consequences. In the dead of night, her mother woke her up and shipped out on a midnight ferry going off the island. It wasn’t long before Marines attacked the ship. The night sky was ablaze with flames as the sails of their ship caught on fire. Blanchette’s mother stowed Blanchette into a lifeboat and cut it free from the rigging, sending it plummeting down into the dark sea below. Her mother promised that she would catch up. But she never did.
Blanchette was adrift at sea for several days, surviving off of the meager supplies stored within the lifeboat. Starving and dehydrated, she was lost in a daze when someone heaved her up by the scruff of her neck. It was a grizzled old pirate. Blanchette stared at him blankly until he said something about throwing her back. Another one of his crew suggesting just killing her to put her out of her misery. Blanchette sprang to life, squirming and begging the man not to kill her and giving lots and lots of things she could do to be useful.
The pirate captain relented, allowing her to join the crew as a deck swabber. Blanchette later learned that he was a fearsome pirate of some renown called Moody Henryk, or Captain Moody. Captain Moody was always on Blanchette’s case when she first joined the crew, scolding her whenever she made a mistake and concocting creative punishments when she didn’t meet standards. He was hard on her, but Blanchette eventually understood it to be a form of tough love. Life on the seas was harsh, but especially so for a child. Despite the adversity, she came into her own as a crew member. She earned the respect of some of the crew, but never quite all of them. Some thought the captain taking in a child was a sign that he’d gone soft.
This growing dissent in the crew was temporarily quelled, however, whenever the captain put their enemies in their place. From Marines to other pirates, Moody was merciless, taking no prisoners. Everything came to a head when Moody and the crew were facing off against their long time nemesis and rivals, the Thundering Pirates. The enemy captain, Wolfe Gehrman, was an utter monster with his Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit and tore through friend and foe alike when transformed. Through a tumultuous battle, Captain Moody finally put the mad beast down. The crew erupted in cheers, Blanchette included.
That night after the Thundering Pirates’ ship and crew had been dealt with, Moody and his crew were celebrating on the deck of their ship. Food and drinks abounded. Blanchette finally felt like she’d been accepted, or at least was now tolerated, by all of the crew. As she got up to fetch another round of drinks for everyone, Blanchette spotted an odd looking fruit in a barrel of fruits they’d looted off the Thundering Pirates. She tucked it away on her person and brought out the drinks, sitting next to Captain Moody as he regaled the crew with the story of his fight - as if they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes.
Blanchette chuckled and took out the odd fruit, biting a sizable chunk out of it as she listened. In the next moment, everyone was staring at her as she gagged at the taste of the fruit. Blanchette opened her mouth to ask why they were all staring at her, but then she blacked out. Blanchette transformed into the same vicious, violent beast that Gehrman had turned into, attacking the crew then and there. Moody tried to subdue her, but not before losing his arm. When Blanchette came back to her senses, she was in a tight bear hug, staring at what was left of Moody’s arm.
The resulting chaos had half the crew wanting to throw her to the sharks. Blanchette was too shell shocked to resist, but Moody put his foot down and said no. His loyal crew stand beside him, blocking Blanchette from the view of the others. The others, with a ferocious roar, declare that the captain’s gone soft and isn’t fit to serve, starting a bloody mutiny. Moody and his loyalists kill and cast out the mutineers, leaving the crew less than half it was before the whole ordeal.
Blanchette blamed herself for the whole thing even though Moody told her not to worry about it. The others would still be here if not for her. Captain Moody wouldn’t have lost his arm if not for her. It was all her fault. Just like before. Just like with her mother. Guilt ate Blanchette up from the inside. Moody and his crew tried a variety of things to cheer her up with only middling results. Blanchette swore to herself that she’d make it up to Moody somehow. He tried to teach her to use her Devil Fruit, but she refused to even try for fear of going berserk again.
It continued like this for some time until Moody and the crew had a run in with the Marines. Specifically, a Marine Admiral. Moody was taken by surprise but reacted quickly, engaging with the Admiral as the others, save one, joined in. The ship doctor grabbed Blanchette as she was about to rush into the fray, dumping her into a dingy. When Blanchette protested, the ship doctor told her it was an order from Moody that Blanchette run away. Blanchette hesitated, and that moment was all the doctor needed to send the boat far away from the scene, allowing Blanchette to escape.
Blanchette eventually washed up on a populated island, grabbing a meal for the first time in a while. As she did, she bought the paper and saw that Moody and the others had been captured by the Marines and taken to Impel Down. Despite the hopelessness of the situation, Blanchette vowed that she’d rescue them from Impel Down no matter what. Blanchette set out, a new goal burned into her heart. She’d need power. She’d need allies. But most importantly, she would need conviction.
