The Lann Kingdom. A kingdom that reached it's prominent status when the founder of the kingdom, Marcoh Lann who found mines upon mines worth of metal, primarily gold, setting up mining operations before any other neighboring countries or authorities could hear about it. Naturally, some were quick to try and make claim on it, to which all of them backed off when Maroch threatened to bomb all the mines, forcing them to cave in and causing more trouble than it's worth to claim what the mines could hold if he followed through with the said threat, making the majority back off. Over the couple of centuries ever since then, a royal family has been created based on their wealth from this mining operation, known as the "Lann Family" and many attempting to diplomatically weasel the noble family out of their gold, with even the world government making generous offers in terms of protection, manpower and so on, all of which were denied. It seems that the Lann Kingdom were content with being isolated and being non-affiliated with the world government.
With the present day, that's all changed. The current head of the Lann noble family is a man by the name of Levi Lann, in the courts of Fort Lann, they have nothing but good things to say about him. But outside? He's regarded as incompetent, uncaring, refusing to listen to any advisors that have anything negative to say about the state of the kingdom and it's citizens. This came to a head when a man by the name of Tomas Lann, an off-branch member of the royal family incited a secret coup, with an attempted poisoning on Levi's wine one fateful night. Fortunately, or unfortunately for some people, Levi is rich enough to have a wine tester, and fell immediately upon drinking the wine. The guards locked down the palace, most of the culprits were seized except for one single man; Tomas Lann.
It was originally believed that was the end of it, but Tomas has returned with a sizable pirate force at his back; the Taur Pirates. They aren't simple pirates, they focus hard on cloak and dagger tactics. They hit hard and then escape the consequences, always being where the evidence isn't. They have a history of attacking merchant ships, capitalizing on both marine and pirate ships and stations that were weakened or short on manpower. They are major opportunists, and they do it well. It was quite odd that such a group would attempt an open invasion, but they have surprisingly gave the Lann Kingdom's army a lot of trouble.
Levi Lann, desperate and now truly worried that Tomas Lann actually has a chance of succeeding, has called upon external help. The marines were quick to answer, dispatching a naval warship to arrive near the back shores of the island, with around five-hundred men led by one Commander Rodrigo, a marine hero in both the eyes of the marines themselves and the public. The initial fighting was... chaotic. The village near Fort Lann has been a battleground for crossfires, leading to civilian causalities, and a deliberate tactic the Taur Pirates utilize to fight back against the numerical advantage that the marines have, as well as having a surprising adaptability to the woodland terrains for ambushing marine patrols.
Captain Rodrigo requested for reinforcements, and that's where the current scene is set. A new warship is arriving on the scene, holding around three-hundred men along with a great number of fresh supplies ranging from food to armaments to relieve the current marines on the island, and to hopefully see a quick resolution to this conflict. The majority of men on board were chosen with experience in dealing with situations like this, hostage situations, traversing forests and picking out ambushes in said environments.
At the front, a good number of men were looking towards Lann Kingdom within the great distance, a small blip in the vast blue ocean that was very, very slowly getting bigger as the warship sailed towards it. It was expected that many were watching the slow crawl towards it. Some were getting restless, others were anxious with how the situation sounded. It got to a point where groups of men were talking amongst themselves, sharing whispers of excitement and fear for what could lay on that island for them.
Doro very much did the same, wearing a short-sleeved marine uniform, blue pants and the black boots, along with the marine cap prominent at his head. He followed the fad and stuck to a small group of people, aiming to break the ice. "We're finally here, ish. If Commander Rodrigo of all people is having issues with 'em, these pirates really need to go." he knew that the only reason the marines are helping is because of the promise of gold given to the marines if the threat is neutralized, politics aside, there's a clear evil and Doro is very much amped up to take care of them, pondering at his fellow mates to see what they were thinking about it all.
