Lost in Darkness
The most thrilling time in his life that Gheata can recall was his early childhood before his father had assigned him his so-called destiny. While it had been lonely, he’d had servants to play with and hope and excitement for the future. After facing the horrors that his father had planned for him, Gheata found existence miserable like being lost in utter total darkness. Deeply unhappy and depressed, it’s all Gheata can do to even get out of bed some days, dread filling him as his consciousness stirs. Despite this struggle, he goes on, pushed by a sense of duty and obligation.
Favors for Favors
Something Gheata has learned in his life is that you can’t get something for nothing. While that seems counterintuitive to his privileged start as a prince, debts must be repaid, service must be compensated, and to owe someone is to forge a binding link between you and them. As such, Gheata never does anything for free or out of the goodness of his heart. There must always be some sort of compensation whether it comes in the form of money or favors. Favors allow him to accrue a sort of power all his own, separate from power derived from money, fear, or privilege.
Cold and Clinical Heart
Gheata can kill someone as easily as he breathes and feel absolutely nothing. In truth, the horrors that he endured in his early childhood left a scar on his soul that never really healed. He was forced to do things that he did not want to and commit atrocities under the guiding hand of his father. The least he could do for them was make their suffering end swiftly. Sights that would horrify or trigger some emotional reaction from a normal person have no impact on Gheata. He endures horrific sights and acts as casually as one might brew coffee in the morning.
Gentle Touch
Unlike some, Gheata does not revel in the suffering of others. He wouldn’t describe himself as particularly kind either, but he does treat all people as equals. He treats people gently. Gheata is all too aware of the fragility of life. He tries to ease the suffering of others whether it be physical, mental, or emotional. Suffering disturbs him and spurs him into action where else he might not.
Academic Hobbyist
For all intents and purposes, Gheata is a bit of a nerd. Not many friends and an abundance of freetime has led to him picking up a variety of hobbies. He enjoys reading, both fiction and nonfiction, and studying all sorts of different fields. He enjoys gardening, keeping many different kinds of exotic plants. He enjoys birdwatching and astronomy as well as listening to classical music. Performing arts like stageplays or the circus are also a favorite of his.
The Long Quiet
Whether he knows it or not, Gheata is desperate for connection with other people. His generally cold and awkward demeanor hampers this desire as he doesn’t really know how to comport himself normally. He says the wrong things, lacks common ground, and usually comes off as condescending without meaning to. This all leads to a suffocating, quiet loneliness that drags him down and drowns him in his own suffering when all he really wants is connection with others.
Appearance
A gaunt man standing about 5’10” (179 cm) tall, Gheata cuts a lean but toned figure. He has heterochromia in his eyes, one being sky blue and the other more a lime green. His short hair is a dark green with a white streak through it. He keeps himself tidy and well kept, putting effort into his appearance and even applying makeup at times. His taste in clothes is rather regal and distinguished, but while he’s working, he tries to keep to a simple white coat and appropriate shirt, pants, and shoes.

Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Ars Goetia
}The Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Ars Goetia resembles an apple. In the light, this appears to be an ordinary green apple with barely noticeable swirling patterns in its skin, but in the darkness, the Devil Fruit’s true colors show. Its skin turns black, the shallow swirls on its surface wreathing it in a foul red glow. The short stem curls slightly at the end with a singular leaf. Biting into the pulp has a pleasant crunch but fills the mouth with the taste of iron.
Many Forms
Tier ★

Blood Oath
Tier ★
Contract Creation
By forming a contract whether written or verbal and sealing it with blood, the Devil Fruit user can grant the contractor special abilities in exchange for something of theirs whether it be their soul, years of their life, their strength or otherwise. Forms
Beast Form
Tier ★
Light and Heat Absorption
In their full beast form, the Devil Fruit user assumes the form of the mythical Ars Goetia. They grow to around 10’ (~303 cm) tall. Their form becomes wreathed in an impenetrable darkness and glows with an eerie red light. They have an extra set of eyes for a total of four, which glow red. The rest of their form is almost indistinguishable from a silhouette aside from fluctuations in the red light that they emit, but their body is chimeric with an assortment of animalistic features that seem to shift. When touching their body, the texture of their body also seems to shift from furry, smooth, scaly, or feathery. While in this form, the Devil Fruit user’s billowing darkness is capable of absorbing all of the light and heat from its immediate vicinity, dousing flame and plunging the area into darkness only illuminated by their own red glow.
Hybrid Form
Tier ★
Demonic Invulnerability
In their half beast form, the Devil Fruit user assumes a hybrid of their original and Ars Goetia forms. They stand upright at 9’7” (292 cm) tall, the ends of their limbs covered in darkness. Their hands become claws. Their feet become digitigrade and zygodactyl. They grow a tail that is covered in this same darkness. Their eyes glow a piercing red, and they gain an additional set of red glowing eyes. Their skin turns an ashy gray as a thin layer of darkness coats it. While in this form, the Devil Fruit user is invulnerable and protected from harm. Of course, salt and things covered in salt can still breach this defense and burn the Devil Fruit user.

Background
}Gheata was born a Celestial Dragon. His father, Saint Fortuna Vladislav, left the Celestial Dragons when he was very young, taking him away from his mother, Saint Fortuna Carmilla. Vladislav established himself as a king of his own country in the New World in order to conduct his plans. Vladislav had grand ambitions of overthrowing the existing leaders of the world in order to instate himself as the immortal king of the world.
As a father, Vladislav was extremely neglectful. It was to a point where the young Gheata only ever saw him on his birthday. The rest of the time, Gheata was clothed, raised, and taught by the servants. When Gheata was eleven years old, his father gave him the responsibility of researching immortality to continue their family legacy. He brought Gheata to a child strapped down to a table and taught him how to dissect them firsthand whilst they were alive. The images and screams engraved on Gheata’s soul on that day never left him. In addition, Gheata was betrothed to sire an heir just in case he and his father failed to discover immortality. Needless to say, the young Gheata was deeply unhappy with this, so his father brought him to a festival in their kingdom to placate him.
Terribly lonely growing up, Gheata found solace in books and studying. Books were an escape from the horrors that his father forced upon him. He was required to continue the experiments and commit what can only be described as atrocities in the name of immortality. In the beginning, Gheata tried to help some of the subjects escape after they begged or befriended him, but whenever he thought that he’d helped them get away, his father would somehow get wind of it and use them in his own experiments anyway.
Gheata felt a profound sense of powerlessness and eventually became completely desensitized to the horrors that he committed in the name of his father, immortality, and science. Truly depressed, Gheata kept doing this until his eighteenth birthday where the date of his wedding to his fiance was set. He had some hope that things might improve. At least, he did until he met her. She arrived, clearly as unhinged as his father, but in different ways. She brought an offering of a Devil Fruit, a fruit that made you hated by the sea in exchange for power.
His father thought that it would be an excellent idea to test the Devil Fruit on Gheata in case it would grant him immortality. Gheata refused, and it was Gheata’s turn to be held down and force fed the Devil Fruit. Shortly afterward, he was strapped to the same table that he’d experimented on as his father experimented on him. The experiment ended with his father trying to see if he could die. So, Gheata died. Very briefly. He was quickly resuscitated, but the event left scars on his soul.
He was terrified. Terrified of living the life that his father had planned out for him, terrified of death, terrified of his fiance. He ran away. He ran far, far away from the New World and the destiny that his father had planned for him. Gheata ended up joining Cipher Pol as a forensic medical examiner. Now deeply afraid of dying, he continued his research into immortality in secret.
Building up connections within Cipher Pol, the Marines, and the underworld, it wasn’t difficult for Gheata to acquire the illicit materials and test subjects that he needed for his research. He even took to collecting the rarer and more exotic specimens just to have, ranging from sinister things like body parts to innocuous things like exotic plants and minerals. That was how he spent the years leading up to the present. Still lonely and depressed, Gheata continues his research into immortality.
