}Personality
Perfectionist Workaholic
One of Poppy’s greatest flaws and assets is her perfectionism. She cannot rest until the job gets done and gets done right. This is why she often stays up for long hours. She can’t find a stopping place in her work. She has to get it all done on time perfectly. She’s been labeled as a workaholic by her peers. Her superiors actually try to get her to work less because they’re worried about her health. She will not stop unless actually ordered to do so.
Overwhelmingly Thoughtful and Kind
Poppy considers treating her close friends and colleagues nicely to be incredibly important. As such, she’ll go out of her way to do nice things for them. She’ll bring coffee around for everyone, write cards and send a box of chocolates on holidays and birthdays. They aren’t big gestures, just nice little things to let people know that she cares.
Exhausted Grouch
A byproduct of her insomniac lifestyle is that Poppy is always tired. Always. She doesn’t remember the last time that she wasn’t tired. Before basic training maybe. Sleep deprivation has numerous effects on her, but the overriding result is that she comes off as crabby or aloof at a surface level. If asked, she’ll say she isn’t, but her tone is always harsher than she means for it to be, and she does get annoyed with little things easily.
Space Cadet
Poppy’s peers would say that she is weird. That would be putting it lightly. Constant sleep deprivation has made Poppy more than a little loopy and detail obsessed. In conversation, she’ll sometimes only hear every other word or the tail end of a sentence, making people have to repeat themselves. Sometimes, her mind will very intensely focus on one thing like a song stuck in her head or a name that’s on the tip of her tongue to the point of obsession. Mostly though, it never seems like she’s all there.
A Chip on Her Shoulder
Thanks to no small amount of disapproval from her very traditional father, Poppy is constantly trying to prove something. She’s desperate for recognition for her own merits, and viciously fights against her father’s schemes to make her quit the Marines and settle down into a proper young lady. She throws herself headfirst into dangerous situations to put herself out there and smash through the obstacles that her father put into the way of becoming a great Marine.
Appearance
Poppy stands 5’11” (180 cm) tall. She has short, straight black hair with metallic looking orange-red under lights and a streak through her bangs. Her bright blue eyes are usually so sunken in and bloodshot that they appear black with dark rings underneath them. She has long eyelashes. She has a sharp, angular face and features to match. She usually wears dark lipstick and does her best to keep her eyebrows plucked and clean. She wants to present a perfect, professional woman!
Poppy runs a little hotter than most people, so she often wears loose, light clothes. A black tank top is her preferred top while sporty navy capris are the pants that she usually wears. She doesn’t go anywhere without her Marine uniform, but she often ties the long sleeved uniform around her waist like a jacket. For shoes, sandals work just fine for her. She’ll dress up if it’s a formal occasion.

}Fighting Styles
Poppy possess two distinct styles of fighting, one is Nemuitō-ryū, her own unique brand of swordsmanship, the other revolves around the use of her Devil Fruit. More unintentional than not, Nemuitō-ryū is a sword style with very deceptive speed and power. All of the movements in the style come off as sluggish and weak when observed, which is why it can come as a shock when that sluggish blade carries with it incredible force or stunning speed. Even the evasive footwork looks more like dodging by luck than with actual skill. Poppy’s surging emotions makes control of her Devil Fruit very difficult, which leads her to become a danger to herself and others. Her eruptions go out of control with intense emotion. She does her best to direct it to the correct outlet, but sometimes things get away from her. She’s a veritable force of nature with her Devil Fruit.

Aspects
}Hopeless Insomniac
Tier ★
Stamina
A lifestyle of late nights, endless paperwork, and perfectionism has forced Poppy’s body to adapt to the (mostly self-inflicted) hellish grind of her day to day work and training. Where once her body knew the majesty of a full night’s sleep, it now knows only suffering. These adaptations allow Poppy to keep going far longer than an ordinary (or sane) person. She’ll never stop so long as she has anything to say about it.
Power Nap
Tier ★
Strength
Poppy’s spent too much time training. According to her colleagues, she even trains in her sleep though Poppy denies it. All this physical conditioning has boosted Poppy’s strength far beyond normal levels. She can lift crazy weights that no normal person could ever hope to lift and do a lot of damage when she does hit something.
Sleepwalker
Tier ★
Soru Speed
While Poppy’s exhausted body protests sustained periods of intense activity, she can muster up the energy for incredible bursts of blinding speed where she seems to disappear. This allows her to take opponents by surprise, and swiftly bring an end to them.

Kaza Kaza no Mi
}The Kaza Kaza no Mi resembles a conical clump of Arbutus berries The swirls of this Devil Fruit end in spiky, red points. The valleys in between the spikes are a bright orange, giving the berries an appearance similar to hot coals or lava rocks. The green, T-shaped stem has a swirl on one side and two spikes on the other.Biting into the berries, they are very juicy but bitter and unbearably spicy. It is akin to eating hot peppers and a fist full of salt at the same time.
Volcanic Heart
Tier ★
Volcano Physiology
The Devil Fruit user’s body has become similar to that of a volcano. Magma flows through their body instead of blood. Any cuts on their body will ooze lava instead of blood. The Devil Fruit user can control the intensity of the temperature of their magma and thus the temperature of their body. They can push these temperatures to the extreme so as to actively harm their surroundings.
Eruption
Tier ★
Lava Production
The Devil Fruit user, like volcanoes, possesses the ability to erupt and generate copious amounts of lava. The eruptions can range from gentle with lava flowing down the Devil Fruit user’s body or violent, allowing them to project lava large distances. The Devil Fruit user does this by creating vents on their body from which their lava erupts.
Ash Clouds
Tier ★
Tephra Production
As the Devil Fruit user erupts, they may produce clouds of tephra, ranging from large rock or glass fragments to fine ash. They can produce large amounts of tephra and project plumes of it afar. Tephra is created and projected from the vents that they create on their body.
Pyroclasm
Tier ★
Shockwave Production
As they erupt, the Devil Fruit user can produce shockwaves from their body. These shockwaves are capable of passing through conventional defenses and targeting an opponent or structure directly and expand the Devil Fruit user's area of impact beyond the initial contact point.

Background
}Born on Ice Nine in the North Blue to a traditionally Marine family, Poppy grew up amid snow and ice. She had several older brothers who joined the Marines as soon as they were able, enlisting as soon as they came of age. Poppy’s parents never expected that of her, letting her pursue her interests as much as she liked. Her father, in particular, was always hesitant to talk about the Marines when she brought up her interest in joining, yet never hesitated to tell his old war stories and brag about her brothers’ accomplishments.
Perhaps due to her father’s protective attitude or relative indifference toward her interests, Poppy decided to rebel. She left home as soon as she turned eighteen, the night before her parents planned a big surprise party for her. She’d discovered a few days before by going through her family’s trash and mail that they had arranged a marriage for her with some prestigious noble in the Frost Kingdom. A bit of eavesdropping further uncovered that they were going to announce it at the party by having her fiancé show up and meet her for the first time.
Poppy left a letter, harshly worded and a bit mocking for her family, and set off for Jreum Island where the North Blue’s main Marine Base was located. She enlisted right away. She trained and studied extraordinarily hard, picking up the insomniac perfectionist habits that she’d later be known for. She completed basic training after a few months and immediately went into specialized training to gain skills in counter intelligence.
After completing training, Poppy was assigned to a division. When she thought she would finally get into some action, Poppy discovered, to her dismay, that she was relegated to desk jockeying. A couple weeks of investigating and Poppy discovered that her being confined to a desk was the work of her father pulling some strings to ensure that his baby girl would stay safe. Stewing in fury, Poppy put in for several transfers, but most were shut down or the letters lost for mysterious reasons.
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Poppy never let herself slack on her work, but the daily grind was soul crushingly boring and mundane. She was handed piles of endless and repetitive busy work. There was no hope of any action, much less swift promotion. Poppy was pretty sure that her father’s plan to keep her safe would backfire because she was going to die of boredom.
She became more desperate. Practically begging her superiors to send her out on patrol around the city. Just something she could do to break up the monotony of the day to day grind. They eventually relented and allowed her to perform patrols of Jreum. On one of them, she found out the reason that her letters and requests for transfer never went anywhere, and it was exactly what she had been expecting. Her father had the post office in his pocket. If she wanted her transfer to go through, she’d have to be clever.
