Michael #8
That perfectly staged smile Michael gave Nellie turned into a genuine one, even if only for a short moment when the killer saw the blush on her cheeks. It didn´t however stay there for long as Tedd once again snapped at her because of her possible cooperation with Gabriel.
“I don´t think it will work like that.”
Michael said, giving disapproving look to the barber, before smiling again at his baker friend.
“My brother is very charitable when it comes to…”
He paused, thinking for a moment how to say “cute puppies” without using these exact words, before settling for
“people in need. I am pretty sure he won´t ask for anything in return.”
Obviously, Tedd couldn´t let Michael´s jab slide and tried to counter, but this time the lawyer ignored him, as Nellie stepped in between them.
“Yes, we should. The two of you wait here, I´ll try to find us some carriage. We can´t just walk around the city during daylight when your face is on the front page of every newspaper in the country.”
Which of curse meant, that he couldn´t really take random carriage as well. He had to make the trip towards the headquarters and take the one Gabriel inherited from their father.
Knowing how well the Professor cared about his inheritance, Michael was afraid it will be in a terrible condition, but his fear was dispelled when he arrived at their father´s home, finding out that since it was transformed into a martial arts school, the various students who were working there in instead of paying tuition put a lot of work not only to the building itself but also its land and other property. So soon he had the carriage and horses. The thing he lacked was an experienced coach as he had no idea how to handle horses. Fortunately, Namkhai volunteered and so in two hours, he was back.
“Don´t worry, it´s me. Time to go.”
He announced his return before entering the warehouse, leaving the snobbish, although slightly worn down carriage and its huge coach behind.
