Kacha Kacha no Mi
English Name: Kachunk-Kachunk Fruit
Classification: Paramecia
Owned By: 'Redbeard'
Appearance: A fruit resembling a small, round watermelon, down to possessing a similar coloration, with darker lines creating a usual "swirl" pattern over the fruit's surface. The exterior is where the fruit becomes irregular, possessing a series of raised, squared ridges along the skin, resembling gear teeth. Between two teeth on the top, the common bright, "t"-shaped bright green stem sticks out pronounced.
The fruit bites with an awkward, segmented snapping of the flesh, the skin stiff and unyielding, and it carries a metallic tang in its flavor. Chewing gives an unpleasant mouthfeel and lingering twinge, akin to having bitten into aluminum foil.
Ability:
- A Clockwork System
The user attains a body able to produce, construct and adopt the properties and characteristics of gear arrangements, becoming a "Gearbox Human". The gear arrays they produce and shift their body parts into, they may control, manipulate, and rearrange in a variety of ways in order to tackle varying situations.
- Engineering Ingenuity
The gears of the user's body may take on a variety of arrangements and sizes, from forms comprised of many small ones to producing more singular large ones, in order to form various "tools" or shapes out of gear reconfigurations and formations. The possibilities for creation are at the tips of their fingers; it only requires the right amount of creativity.
- Tough as Iron
These gears that make up the user's body are comprised of a tough, iron hardness. As such, when actively manifesting a gear construct from or of the body, they act as a steely defense, resisting impacts, bullets and blades of ordinary origin. However, stronger forces may cause these defenses to break apart, and the user may still be forced back by an overwhelming push as would apply in alternative circumstances.
Weaknesses:
- Loathed By The Sea
As is with all Devil Fruits, the consumer henceforth becomes weakened and drained of strength when mostly submerged in standing water. If fully submerged, they become afflicted with the "hammer" phenomena unique to Devil Fruit Users, helplessly sinking completely immobilized to the bottom. Even when only partly submerged, they are unable to use their power.
As with all Devil Fruit users, the individual becomes susceptible to Seastone; being attacked with it will bypass any defenses, and being restrained by it will weaken immensely and cut off use of powers.
- A Little Rusty
When producing gears or arrangements in humid or downpour conditions, the user runs the risk of weathering their formations, causing them to stiffen or become otherwise inoperable. In such circumstances, the only viable means of regaining full use of their power would be to find a way to dry themselves out, or disengage their ability, leaving them vulnerable while they try to pursue another avenue to tackle the situation from.
Misc: The Japanese name of the fruit is derived from the onomatopoeia of "kacha kacha", the descriptor for the sound made by the locking and shifting of gearbox-based machinery.
