Holly took in a deep breath through her nose, lips formed into a thin white line as she squinted out over the railing of the marine ship she'd been stationed on for the time being. She was admiring, or rather scrutinizing the view of Shivre Mountain from the docks, eyes trailing up towards the summit before snapping away towards her commanding officer as she heard his voice from over her shoulder,
"So, what do you think Ensign? I trust you'll be able to ferret out this ne'er-do-well's location in no time, yes?" A thin, raspy voice rang through an embellished grin as the recently-promoted captain stood behind Holly with his hands clasped behind his back. Before she had a chance to respond, he was already stepping up to join her at the railing, bending slightly at the hip to reach down and pat her on the back jovially. "After all, you've yet to disappoint me so far. I can't imagine you'd start now."
While the captain's words dripped with strange venom, he managed to cover it easily enough as far as Holly was concerned. To her, his comment was nothing more that a compliment to her skills, to which she gave a cocksure half-smile and a short nod accompanied by a huff of air through her nose. A universal sign of determination, in Holly's book.
"You know it, Cap." Holly said through her awkward smile, before hopping up onto the railing itself and then down onto the docks, slinging her sword in it's sheathe up over her shoulder casually and strolling her way on up the mountain. Forget that she didn't know the first thing about actually investigating crimes, or finding people that had gone into hiding. She was a fighter, not a detective - but that wasn't about to stop her from trying.
Thankfully, the path up to Shivre Out was fairly uneventful for Holly, though she may have preferred otherwise. Still, her boredom abated quickly as she began to see the actual structure of the city up-close, and while she wasn't quite staring doe-eyed about the place as she walked through the streets, the pink-haired half-dwarf did seem to hold a certain innocent wonder in her gaze. Certainly, the town may not have looked like terribly much to some others, but she found the way the buildings were all lined up so you could easily access their rooftops oddly charming. That, and she had already heard from some crewmates on the way here that this place was known for its metalworking, and she was excited by the possibility of learning new tricks or even picking up some raw material while in town.
But, Holly had to remember why she was actually here in the first place. Before she could enjoy any leisure time in town, she'd have to find some info on this 'Doctor Holt'. Holly didn't know too much about him, but what she did know was that he was a talented doctor that had apparently been helping some bad people for a while now, and now that the Marines were finally onto him he was on the run. That was precious little to go off of when looking for someone - she didn't even have a face to go off of, only a description given to her by the Captain. Still, the Captain had insisted that Holt absolutely had to be on this island, and even though he'd been wrong before, Holly still believed him whole-heartedly.
Which just meant that she'd have to keep looking until she found him. If he was definitely here, then it would only be a matter of time after all. The approach really didn't matter too much as long as she stuck to it long enough, she supposed. With a firm, decisive nod and a stamp of her fist into her open hand, Holly settled on the best plan of all - just go around and ask folks. Person after person, she went around tugging on sleeves or announcing herself rather loudly to the consistent surprise of the townsfolk. Many were off-put by her height, but Holly was surprised herself to find that the majority of people were able to get over it fairly quickly, and talk to her like a normal person.
While that was certainly nice, the unfortunate part was that almost nobody had any information to give, or perhaps they simply weren't willing to in some cases. Not surprising, but after spending a few long hours milling around trying to interrogate strangers it was definitely becoming frustrating.
"C'mon, seriously..? Like, not even a different terrorist doctor or something? Just, nothing at all? Like, I know he's here, someone has to know something...." Holly muttered to herself almost childishly, quietly fuming and doing her best to take deep breaths and relax like her father had always advised. It wasn't these peoples' faults if they didn't know anything, after all. There was still a lot of Shivre out to cover, too, and that task was becoming more and more daunting the more people she asked. She needed a new approach.
