English Name:– Gummy Gummy Fruit

Appearance:– A strange form of fruit that most closely resembles a pear, this fruit is shaped like a tear drop, with the bottom end being bulbous and soft while the top is narrow and would be pointed if not for the stem that sprouts from it’s top. Covered in pink skin that feels like rubber, the surface of the fruit is covered in the faint pattern of golden swirls that encompasses the entirety of its exterior. The stalk that shoots from the item golden, an unusual propery of this fruit is that it looks like it has looped around and over itself, forming a kind of broad whorl from the center which makes it look a little like it is coiled a little like a snake.
Ability:– Making the user a 'Gum Human' (Gamu Ningen ガム人間), this fruit gives them the ability to generate sticky and stretchy gum, most commonly seen in mediums one chews or blows bubbles with. Activation of their power seeming to made their body exude this substance in a colour and quantity of their choosing, the user can exploit the elastic and adhesive qualities of the material to stick it to whatever they choose, or expand or contract as they need.
Possessing a rubbery quality which makes it rather resilient as well, it can be a handy medium to guard oneself with, exploiting that natural pliancy to absorb physical force, and emphasize that or the inherent tackiness to their advantage. Able to wilfully make their creations expand and contract as well via manipulation of their gum, the user can even exploit this mechanism like a crude 'muscle', allowing them the principally pull on things, overall offering them a wide range of options for how they use the power even if it isn't the most inherently destructive material.
Undoubtedly most being told by their mothers and others never to swallow their gum, the non-biodegradable properties that the medium possesses mean it is not only resistant to liquids, but especially the dissolving effect of acids, providing a functional immunity to caustic and degrading effects.[/ul]
Translations:– 'Beto Beto' is an onomatopoeic word in Japanese for something which is sticky or gummy, and 'Betoー' is a similar sound effect for stretching something like gum, the combination of which sums up the principle aspects of this power.
'Gamu' (ガム) is the Japanese gairaigo (loanword) from the English 'Gum', not to be confused with Gomu, which itself is taken from dutch, to refer to natural rubber.
Weaknesses:– First and foremost the user becoming an 'enemy' of the sea, submersion of any degree in water both salty and otherwise robs them of their ability to activate their power, weakens their body, and if substantial enough can leave them totally paralysed and effectively helpless.
Seastone having a similar effect, exposure to this mysterious substance can likewise restrict activation of their Devil Fruit abilities, as well as drain their strength and stamina.
Inhibited by cold, one might notice how gum seems to lose both its sticky tendency and elasticity when exposed to the Londonr extremes of temperature, making the users gum stiffen and grow brittle, and lose that adhesive tendency in turn.
