The lawyer tilted his head to the side when Cro started laughing, waiting to the end of this strange and slightly embarrassing episode with the patience of someone, who had to deal with much worse displays in the courtroom.
“Are you done?”
He asked with a hint of disdain in his voice. As the dwarf tried to stop him from throwing the case a tired sight escaped from between of Michael´s lips.
“What are you talking about. You wanted to help that old lady didn´t you?”
He asked with a cynical grin on his face.
“And this is how we´ll help her. By letting it go and not pursuing that matter any further.”
The lawyer didn´t even slow down on his route back to his office.
“Just think about it…”
He continued after a while.
“That girl grew up without her father so there are three possible scenarios. First, he is dead, which is unlikely since she is looking for him, although still possible. Second, he didn´t care about her and disappeared, and third, the most likely one. He was some poor guy who was disapproved by her family and after the mother died, they pushed him away. Either way, if we find him, that old lady you wanted help so much won´t be happy, because it was probably her who forbid him the contact with his daughter. And you won´t help that guy either because there is no guarantee, that the old lady won´t let him…removed to prevent him to meet his daughter and have a bad influence on her.”
Michael explained, pausing for a second, as he suddenly realized, that the lecturing tone he used sounded completely like the one used frequently by his half-brother Gabriel. He shivered. The last thing he wanted was to grow into university professor like he did.
