Sitting up as he stared at Eve, he felt a little bit of hope restored. “Really? Loki doesn’t sound like the name of a lazy cat…” he muttered, lowering his voice a bit because he realised how silly that sounded. If people were to name their cats after their behaviour, there would probably very few, far less creative names to choose from, and most of them would probably be quite mean.
His face was beaming as Eve created another body pillow for him and he was quick to hop off the pizza boxes and snatch it up in his little arms, hugging it tightly. Her optimism really was contagious as the fairy once again had a content smile on his face, forgetting all his worries for just that moment.
The news could wait however – what was the news again? Ah yes, it was about how proud of Mr Campbell Cro was for offering him that hotel to spend the night at, a kind gesture that he made out of his own free will without being forced to in any way, but now… now he brought his cat to the office. Perhaps there really was no evil intention behind it, and it was all in Cro’s head.
As soon as he heard Michael call him, however, he nearly jumped out of his skin, a heavy shudder running from his shoulders and down his entire spine.
Swallowing air, he turned to face Michael’s office, frozen on the spot for a few seconds, before he grabbed the bottom end of the pillow to fold it up. He wrapped his arms around the folded pillow to reduce it in size and remove the possibility of it brushing against anything without him noticing it, like had happened the other day with the lawyer's valuable pens. Finally, he mustered the courage to kick off the desk and slowly flew to the door of his office, his wings beating only half-heartedly and dread written all over his face.
First his tiny little head popped in to peer into the room, without saying a word. Next he entered the office, flying high enough to be well above Michael’s eye-level and out of the reach of his cat’s claws.
“Y-Yes?” he asked in a muffled voice as half his face was covered by the pillow, but didn’t dare move lower or closer, having only just passed the threshold.
