The sun had set hours ago and the last train from San Faldo to Water7 was making its way on a slower than normal run. There had been reports of sea-king sightings near the tracks and to avoid provoking them all the trains operated at a much lower speed. This made it the perfect target for pirates, the bandits of the seas. The train was chugging away over the darkened and seemingly calm waters on the cloudless and moonless night. As it did it was watched from a small fleet of small but fast vessels that would be easily able to catch up and sail along side the train to deposit men and take on loot.
The ships with their lights out were waiting for the train to pass a certain mark on the route, one that put them outside the quick response range for any helpers and gave them enough time to get on the ship and take what was needed. It was incredibly rare to get conditions this perfect for a train jacking. Some would call this a once in a life time opportunity, usually because the trains moved too fast for any interception but the threat of ramming a sea-king and pissing it off enough for it to destroy the train and kill everyone aboard was more than enough motivation to go slow.
There was a strange glinting light in the sky and the hum of rapidly flapping wings, something entirely unnatural moving at a speed that would have been fast enough to pass the sea train when it was not holding back. “Come on Nym! You gotta catch the train and warn everyone about the pirates!” She spoke to herself, quietly urging herself onwards to do just that.
Just an hour ago the four-armed gunslinger was casually lounging in the bar, having a meal and her drinks to toil the night away as she looked for purpose. She was considering all the options she had on her plate after finally getting across the redline and finding an island to make rest on that did not look like a fortress. Life had been hard since leaving Xelor, there were so many things she had to watch out for.
It was as she ate and pondered a group of louts entered the place, smack talking and essentially shouting their conversation. “Maaaaaaan. Duuuude. Broooo. It suuuucks that we caaaaaaant gooo on the Train Raaaaaaiiiiiiid.” A larger balding brute of a man said slowly as he lumbered to a stool and gingerly sat his girth on it. There was a strained creaking of wood as he settled and every one of the group, once it was clear that the chair would not be smashing to pieces they all sighed and nodded.
“Well. Boss wants us to guard the main ship and we aren’t the stealthiest and quickest bunch.” Another replied in a dejected tone. “They should be getting close to hitting it in. The train should be getting to the ambush in an hour.”
That was that, there was a small show of guns and a bar tab paid… with extras for broken furniture and Nym had left in ruins with dead and bleeding pirates through them. The gunslinger had taken off from the train station and followed the tracks as fast as she could. There was no sign of ships yet, but the fact she had got here first was good. There was a heavy thud on the ceiling of the train as she landed, skidding to a stop on one knee and drawing with all four of her arms. “No being an arsehole on my watch.”
