Split Personality
The most important trait of Nero’s is his split personality. Developed after trauma in his childhood, most noticeably the collapse of the Kingdom he was set to inherit and the murder of his parents, his split personality is intricately linked with his and his country’s history. While prone to occasional bouts of amnesia or time loss, his two personalities (Nero & Auro) are aware of each other, and in some circumstances can even interact. Nero, however, believes that the source of his other personality lies in the haunting of an amulet that he carries with him at all times - a spirit which sometimes takes control of his body.
Nero
The base persona, Nero is the fallen crowned prince. His personality traits are greatly influenced by his princely upbringing.
Auro
Emperor Augustus “Auro” Romulus, the first Emperor of Nero’s home country and his ancestor, is his second personality. Much like Nero, his belief is that his spirit was trapped inside of an amulet, released when opened by Nero. Back from the dead, he aims to use this second life to manipulate his descendant and re-establish his empire.

- Royal Arrogance: A trait that usually manifests itself as outward confidence, Nero was brought up to believe that as a royal, he is superior to regular folk. In reality, Nero has firsthand experience with knowing that the world is not fair, and that all is not as it should be. As such, you won’t find him commanding folk willy-nilly in the street, but instead performing actions or saying phrases which betray his belief that he is better.
- Fiercely Possessive: Nero is greedy, but rather than simply being greedy it would be more accurate to describe himself as possessive. Material wealth is not the main concern to Nero. He is possessive towards whatever he owns - even going so far as to defend his underlings and companions so as to not lose them. Of course, this also exposes how Nero sees others.
- Manipulative: Nero is always searching for potential benefits to himself in any situation, no matter the occasion. In order to do so, he will often seek to manipulate either his circumstances or the people around him for his own gain. To claim that Nero seeks manipulation out or takes pleasure in it would be true as well.
- Quiet/Patient: Nero isn’t loud by any means, often happy to stay his comments until he has properly analized a situation. With others, he will interact politely or even playfully, but his exterior facade will adapt to whatever suits him best in the moment. Very patient, he will wait for the right moment to strike in any situation and will put up with others’ antics.
- Tortured: Being “haunted by a spirit”, or having a split personality, as Nero does, is a challenging endeavor. To say he wrestles with his other personality would be inaccurate. It would be more truthful to describe the passing of control from personality to personality like a knockout sucker punch which arrives at certain triggers, or seemingly without reason. In addition, he struggles with some moment-to-moment memory loss or general forgetfulness.
- ”Golden Emperor”: Auro’s self-esteem borders on a god-complex. During his reign and long after, his subjects certainly saw him as such, even going so far as to build him a gargantuan mausoleum in his honor. He believes himself to be an ideal ruler and isn’t afraid to proclaim his superior, often requesting that others bow in his presence.
- Supremely Driven: Auro has a mental strength of character and determination like no other. He however doesn’t believe in patience as much as his counterpart, instead subscribing to the belief that action rules supreme, and will seek to be proactive in nearly every situation.
- Eternally Angry: The depths of Auro’s fury are unfathomable. For one, he believes himself to be stuck with the same descendant of his that lost his kingdom, making him perpetually furious. Secondly, he considers himself weak in his current state, whereas in life he was an extremely accomplished fighter.
- Compassionate Leader: A good ruler is receptive to the wants and needs of his subjects. As such, Auro can be considered compassionate, especially to those that are loyal to him. His compassion, however, can better be described as trying to maximize his leader effectiveness rather than genuine empathy towards others, even if the results can sometimes be the same.
- Dispassionate Conqueror: A contradiction to other parts of his personality, Auro can also be disapassionate and sacrifice what he finds valuable for his own greater good - including his subjects.
