The lawyer tilted his head slightly to the side, as the word running rang strangely to his ears. Should he run from here? Usually, it was the exact opposite. People were running from him, even though it rarely made a difference. If anything, shouldn´t she run away from him? After all, when he was thinking about his options, killing her was the first thing that crossed his mind. She already told him, that she was wanted, so if he presented her body to the Marines, they would probably let his previous strange behavior slide, especially if he “donated” the bounty to them. The reason he eventually changed his mind wasn´t any form of sympathy for the mermaid, but simple calculation. He already hinted his combat capabilities back then, when he fought Zasha, so if he revealed any more of it, it could bring the marines closer to discovering his true self and all these murders he committed over the past years. Still, running away was pretty undignified.
As he was pondering about it a first bullet made of ink hit the ground just in front of his feet, drawing his attention back to the giant mermaid, who sent another projectile in his way.
“Ink bullets, Gabriel would love to see this.”
Michael noted for himself, as he dodged the incoming projectile, without moving his feet from the spot, looking as if he was bored by it, revealing that he was a bit more skilled than your average fighter.
As she raised her scythe, the lawyer in response raised his cane, in a movement that was hinting that there may be a blade hidden in it, he dodged the incoming attack and for a second it almost looked like he will counter, but then suddenly Michael turned around and started running.
He muttered loud enough for her to hear, raising the volume a moment later.
“HELP! THAT CRAZY WOMAN WANTS TO KILL ME!”
Yes, this was terribly undignified, but it also was the best option at the moment.
