Island created by Remy.
Name of Island: Rondure
Size of Island: Medium-large.
Location: Grand Line, on the Dream Route.
Inhabitants: The people here live mainly in the city of the same name, and do so in a relatively simple though modern fashion. While technology does not prevail here, Rondure's citizens are mostly up-to-date with the majority of the world at large. Their dress tends to fit the round nature of the island itself, and clothing is often very round in many respects (many cylinders, circles, spheres, and so forth).
Town(s)/Village(s)/City or Cities: Rondure is home to a city considered, more or less, synonymous with the island itself (thus the city has no name, it simply is Rondure). Every building is nearly perfectly spherical, all of which are raised at least eight feet above the ground, and many are connected to each other by cylinders a few feet in diameter. All structures are made of a type of magnetic ore that is abundant on the island, and every citizen here wears special magnetic attachments on their shoes which allow them to walk all the way around the buildings in every direction. The entrances to these buildings are all located on the bottom (to protect from the elements), and their owners enter by walking all the way around the building and coming in through the door there.
Flora and Fauna: Rondure is notable for its distinctly round qualities - every plant and animal on the island is perfectly or nearly-perfectly circular in some way. The trees that populate the island form leaves in perfect spheres that appear to expand outward evenly as the grow, with the bushes and other plants growing the same way; even the grass beneath one's feet naturally curves on itself to form loops on the ground. The fauna in many ways resemble those found on other, more normal islands, though more in keeping with the theme of Rondure: for instance, the Ball Bear is more or less the same as a normal bear beyond its spherical shape and tendency to roll everywhere it goes. A constant nuisance to citizens here are the berrybirds, who resemble seagulls in most respects, but the center of their bodies are, again, perfect spheres. Additionally, the summer plays host each year to a mass migration of spherical Rollerbuffalo from one end of the island to the other, generally rolling right through the city which can be disastrous for its occupants. As it stands, the only living thing on this island that has not (at least, not yet) taken on this characteristically round shape are the human occupants.
Island History: The anomaly that generated the perfectly round shape of the island is inexplicable, but even more confounding is the fact that every animal and plant formed in a similar fashion. The first people to visit this island were astounded and amazed by these qualities, and at that time viewed them to be evidence of a somehow mystical or holy quality within the island, and chose to first settle there in the interest of being as close to whatever force was responsible as they could possibly be.
Over time, these beliefs faded out of popularity, but the inhabitants did not go anywhere and indeed had already well adjusted to the island. Farming perfectly spherical fruits and vegetables, raising Rollerbuffalo, living lives in round houses with round furniture - all of this was just naturally worked into the people's lives as the island developed in relative peace. Early in the settlement's lifetime, a significantly-sized hurricane hit the town during a Rollerbuffalo migration, and the devestation was palpable. The attempt to rebuild was difficult, as every available building material natural to the island was perfectly round, and so the development was eventually made for the now-trademark spherical houses elevated at different levels above the ground, made of the abundant magnetic rock found throughout the city. This has proved an excellent means of solving the issue of having to battle the weather, and this development allowed additional expansion to occur without importing expensive materials from outside. So, the small settlement that initiated Rondure's development exploded as travelers came to this fascinating place and chose to stay, and it continued to grow until eventually it reached the modestly-sized city it is today.
Now, it serves as a major tourist attraction, and does much of its business on the basis of that industry. It is also popular among foreign hunters for its strange animal populace, though hunting is strictly regulated by the government officials in Rondure.
