*Beep* The darkness eventually gave way for young Hoshiko, his eyes coming too to a vast and cloudless blue sky. He had quickly sat up and looked around to see himself sat atop of a green covered hill overlooking the marine base he signed up to be a recruit in. Down by the bottom of the hill stood all of his friends, Reynard, Nora and Daniel being the ones coming up the hill to meet him. Each of them wore a big smile on their face and were completely hale and healthy. As he noticed it he let his trademark smile grow on his old face. *Beep*
*Beep* As the marine made a move to stand a strong and reaffirming hand clad in a gauntlet grasped his shoulder. It was incredibly comforting to him as he looked up and saw the large and imposing figure of Rosalyn giving him her knowing smile. “We all made it out, okay?” He asked, the relief that he had managed to help his comrades… those that were alive before he fell in that fight. “Di- did I die?” *Beep*
*Beep* As he asked the question a every member of the 22nd that had appeared around him shook their heads, not saying a word in eerie silence. So, he wasn’t dead… that was good, this was just where they happened to bring him to recover. The young marine didn’t feel in pain, he had all of his limbs and could move. The scene shifted when he wasn’t paying attention to the clearing on Karate Island, the flat portion where all the trees avoided growing. All of his friends had not moved aside from going to the side to sit down on fallen trees or stumps. Their smiling faces unchanging as they watched him, as if they were waiting for the young man to figure it all out. *Beep*
*Beep* “You did well Rak,” a kind and familiar voice spoke. “You did really well! I’m so proud!” The feminine tone carried on, ever word that was spoken had a calming effect that seemed to make everything feel like it was better. *Beep*
*Beep* With a quick turn Rakka saw something he had been waiting to see since the mission turned sour… he saw a shorter blonde woman with big blue eyes and a smile that mirrored his own. A woman that hobbled forward on a crutch as her justice jacket hung loose over her missing arm. “Mum!” He called before running over to hug the woman, tears of happiness in his eyes. “I did what you said! I made friends and I protect everyone! I’ve been training and getting stronger! Reynard is a fox man and he has eaten a fruit like me! You’d really like him! Ohh ohh! And then there is Auntie Rosie! She is really tough and strong and wants to change the system like you! You’d really her as well because she is super nice and makes sure I train! Then there’s Daniel! He is really cool but hates devil fruits but I think he is strong and good! And Nora too! She is amazing and sparkling and pretty! She can play with sparkles and glitter and-“ *Beep*
The scene all vanished leaving the young man with his mother alone in the darkness, just smiling happily at him. Then she too turned into a puff of glowing mist as the beeping sounds of the heart monitor came to him, the sounds of voices… Rey? Rosie? Nora? They were certainly familiar. That was when the aches and pains hit him like a truck. Eventually his eyes opened with some great effort and the light of the room stung… not as bad as his chest though.
“Ow….” Rakka had wheezed out, slowly forgetting the details of his dream as he looked around to see silhouettes behind a dividing curtain. He was in hospital alright… “Is Daniel okay?” He wheezed out as loud as he could, trying to get the attention of the others behind the curtain.
