Magnus #16
"Tss, see this?"
She asked, showing the marine officer a golden ring on her left hand.
"This means for better and for worse. I married this big oaf knowing way too well what he is up to, so feel free to add me to that report of yours!"
The ginger-haired woman said defiantly.
After Melly turned around and left, the hospital room turned silent for a moment, before Magnus said
"You know, you didn't have to say that right?"
She nodded.
"Yes, but I wanted to."
The former captain nodded.
"Thank you."
The two of them went silent again, each one with his own thoughts before Christina spoke up.
"Do you…do you think they will put bounties on us?"
Despite the clear worry in her voice Magnus couldn't but chuckle.
"No, small-scale incidents like this especially if they happened in a country that isn't part of the World Government will be probably ignored by the higher-ups. At least for now. But if you were so worried…Nah, never mind, what was your plan if they would?."
This time it was Christina who smirked and stuck out her tongue in a childish gesture.
"What, I would sell my clinic and use the money to buy a ship. I think that kids would like to travel for a while. And you…"
She pointed her finger at Magnus.
"You would have to be a good pirate and loot every ship in sight to keep our living standards. I am princess, after all, remember?"
This time the large fighter laughed regretting it a second after as his ribs readily reminded him how many of them are broken.
"You will go after him, right? That guy who caused all this…"
Christina asked with a much more serious tone than before.
He nodded.
"Yeah, whoever that was, he is too dangerous to be left alone, or in the hands of Marines. Especially if they may be sponsoring his research. It wouldn't be the first time they tested something like that on the nonaffiliated country.
Christina sighed silently.
"I thought so much, but don't think I will let you go before you'll heal properly!"
That wasn't something Magnus could argue with and so he returned to his bed. Something was telling him that in the upcoming weeks he won't have many opportunities to do so.
