Sanagi #16
Martin’s words weren’t exactly helpful, nor was the resounding laughter of the pack, but it did help to ease Miss Wells’ mind somewhat. These last few hours had been rather action-packed, all things considered, and the salmon-skinned stranger was still struggling to process some of the events. How and why she had ended up here, she had no idea, but one thing was made certain — her role in all this was far from complete. Eric’s hand upon her shoulder prompted her to meet his eyes.
“You made the right choice joining us,” he said grimly, soon beckoning for the others to follow as he made for the door. Sure enough, Rahu did as he was asked, muttering something to the semi-sentient Gin as Sanagi made to retrieve her suit — words she did not catch nor care to listen to as the fabric of her outer garment rustled in her grip. One leg, two, and then the arms for good measure; she slid back into the strange article, adjusting it a little before zipping it shut and scooping the helmet under her arm…—— SOMEWHERE ——
“All vitals stable,” said a man in a lab coat — one of several present in the dimly lit room. Various screens displayed all manner of information, their light breaking some of the darkness that persisted. The gentle hums and rhythmic beeps of a multitude of pieces of equipment filled the air as figures monitored the details carefully, preparing for what was to come.
“Acceptance hormones administered successfully,” another recited, stepping back to what some would have considered a safe distance. “Doctor,” they said, turning to face a man whose slow pacing came to a halt. A man of average stature, squared glasses resting upon the bridge of his aquiline nose. Tight lips curled from a thoughtful frown into something more of a small smile of comprehension as he looked down from his viewing platform. “Shall we disengage?” the lab coat asked.“Mm,” the doctor nodded:
“Disengage…”“Disengaging!”
Clank… Clank… Hiss! Hiss! Metal shifted, valves closed, and the steady flow of some sort of gas through plastic pipes came to a halt. Monitors clicked off, light diminishing, only to be steadily replaced with fresh lighting from the ceiling. Several men in coats and body armour poised themselves with specialised firearms trained upon what lay in the centre of the chamber — a large padded table. From said table a figure rose, slowly, a large hand rubbing its forehead.“Urgh…,” a deep voice groaned:
“Man, my head’s killing me… Huh?”
“No. Sudden. Movements,” a guard stated, his words directed more at his men than at the thing sitting on the table — a figure that towered over them. Said figure gave them would could only be described as a disappointed look, eyes slowly scanning the room.“It seems the new dosage,” the doctor’s voice echoed:
“Has done absolute wonders for your temperament…”“Aah… S#¡+head Moreau…”“It’s nice to see you, too,” Moreau replied, smirked:
“Double-Oh…!”{Post Synposis:}
Sanagi dons her suit again and heads out with the others. Meanwhile, shady happenings begin…
