Eric #8
Rahu asked quietly right after the doors leading to the kitchen closed themselves behind them. Eric stayed silent for a moment before answering with a question of his own.
“What do you think?”
The young fighter blinked in confusion.
“About what?”
“About that thing we brought here. She fell from the sky in some metal ship of sort and despite her claims she clearly isn´t human. So, do you think he would be interested in her? The scientist who gave you your heart?”
Rahu blinked again as the confusion in his face slowly changed into disbelief and than even badly hidden panic.
“What? No...I mean, that´s terrible idea. That guy´s specialty is human modification and while I think he would pay a nice money for the opportunity to study whoever or whatever she is we didn´t really parted ways in a friendly manner, so I am not...”
Eric nodded.
“Good, in that case, contact him and arrange the meeting.”
Left dumbfounded, Rahu was looking on his commander with his eyes widened. Considering the discussion already finished, Eric wanted to head back to the main room, however before he could even touch the handle, the door opened again as Agnes walked in.
“Are you going to recruit her?”
She asked in hurry as if she thought that the faster she´ll say that words the bigger is her chance to actually convince her “brother”.
The Wolf King sighed. He knew her little sister too long and too well so deep inside, he already expected this question but still hoped that this time her common sense will win over her feelings.
“No, we are going to sell her as planned.
The sharpshooter frowned.
“We planned to sell piece of rock not a living being. This is slavery Eric and I thought...”
“We aren´t going to sell her as a slave. We are going to turn her in to the nearest Governmental scientist in exchange for a reward.”
“That´s even worse!”
Sharp as ever, Rahu realized that the exchange between the two of them is something he want to witness and so started slowly withdrawing to the pantry.
“Listen, in her case we have no idea what we are dealing with. It´s too dangerous to keep her around and we need the money to repair the ship and the medical bills for you guys aren´t really cheap either.”
Similarly to an offended teenager, Agnes frowned and folded her arms across her chest.
Locked in a staring contest the two friends looked at each other for almost whole minute, before Eric growled
“Fine, be it your way. I´ll give her a chance. If she´ll voluntarily participate in our training. I´ll invite her to join us. But if she won´t, we will continue according to the plan, understood? And don´t even think about helping her. I want to see whatever is she a good fit or no.”
With her face brightened by a sudden smile, Agnes hugged her big brother around shoulders and kissed him on a cheek.
“Thank you.”
Meanwhile in the main room of the inn the questioning continued.
“Human huh?”
Muttered Adam doubtfully.
“You look more like a skinned salmon to me…”
“Ah come on, don´t be such boor.”
Gin laughed and pushed the giant monkey-man aside to get closer to the alien.
“Not what, but who. Agnes is that girl over th...”
Confused he looked around as the mentioned woman already managed to disappear into the kitchen too.
“That girl who accompanied you here. And hey...”
Wakatsuki lowered his voice and leaned closer to Sanagi.
“Be careful around her. She swings both ways if you know what I mean and lost “puppies” like yourself are her.”
“Will you shut up?”
Martin poked him under the ribs with his elbow, before focusing back on the unusual lady.
“Ehm...sorry, I mean, that´s amazing. I actually read about it long time ago. But I didn´t believe, that I´ll ever meet real star. Hey, can you glow naturally or is it something you can do only up there?”
He pointed his index finger towards the sky.
