Appearance
The Hai Hai no Mi resembles an oversized Lychee fruit with a rough, bumpy skin. The skin is a vibrant reddish orange, which almost seems to glow like lava. On the skin's surface in between the rough bumps are the customary swirls of the Devil Fruit. When the skin is peeled, there's a white pulpy flesh with the red seed in the center. It looks juicy when peeled, but when one bites into it, its dry and crumbles to a gritty, ashy texture. The taste is reminiscent of char.
Ability
This Devil Fruit turns its user into an Ash Human ("Hai Ningen"), granting them the following abilities...
- Ash BodyThe user's body is able to transform into volcanic ash particles, rendering them mostly invulnerable to physical attack. As a mostly gaseous Logia, the Devil Fruit user's body takes on an intangible state when struck by physical forces, allowing the blows to pass through the user's body harmlessly. The user can easily reform their body as long as their transformative capabilities are not inhibited.
- Ash ProductionThis Devil Fruit allows the user to produce massive quantities of the substance that their transformed state is comprised of, generating huge plumes of ash directly from their body that can be manipulated and shaped to their wishes.
- Ash ManipulationThe Devil Fruit user may manipulate ash present in the environment, whether they created it or preexisting ash. They may accumulate vast amounts in order to strengthen their attacks, strike from afar, or shroud themselves in it.
Weaknesses
- Kairoseki ("Sea-Prism Stone") debilitates the user by sapping their strength and prevents them from consciously controlling or activating their power.
- Submersion in water renders the Devil Fruit user immobile and causes them to sink, reverting them to their normal state and preventing conscious control of their abilities.
- Liquids and liquid covered surfaces make the ash that comprises the user's body to clump together when struck, allowing the Devil Fruit user to be hurt despite their intangibility.
