The breeze of ocean waves crashing stones and worn down wood washed over the coast, a group of pirates had settled down by an abandoned forgotten coast line at the pirate island Jaya. These pirates consisted of purely fishmen, while they may just be your regular kind of fishmen thugs they got a history. Once known as The Rainbow Shell and The Inevitables, these fishmen were a part of a splendid music group that tourneyed around the Grand Line and the four blues for over ten years. They are now known as Buzz Mouth Pirates, and their leader, Porchez, Diango, was seen as a cruel fishman with a great hatred towards other species. But in truth, he just happens to despise the kind of people to do slave ownerships. His story is long, but in short he had his family tarnished and taken away as slaves. For that very reason he sought to bring any slave owner to the bottom of the ocean. This includes Marines that aids this kind of horrid behaviour, being a pirate was only inevitable with how passionate he is with his ideals. To be up against the Government and the huge slave market was a big battle, but he managed to do his part.
And he just so happens to be relaxing after a succesful raid against a slave ship, killing every culprit and carrying those unfortunate to be labelled as mere slaves. Him and his loyal crew carried the slaves to Jaya who happens to be the nearest place, and of course being the proud man he is Diango took the time to enjoy the Jaya's tropical weather while the slaves teared up in happiness as they walked up from the salty sea water. It was at least a dozen, from children to adults, how they even got to be slaves is a whole topic for another day, for that day was reserved to joy. Diango himself laid relaxed on a flat stone with his hat tipped over his head, the sun kinda stung.
''Ey boss! Are you sure about this?''
A crew member of his quickly landed next to Diango after jumping up from the water, a fishman in a fine black suit and a fedora, a loach specie. He looked quite worried despite their success, he kneeled down to get closer to Diango.
''Come now, can't a lil fishy enjoy some sunlight? Everything needs a bit of vitamin C aye?''
''But Mr. Porchez, this is a crooked island with nothing but pirates, likely the kind that won't be so easy on slaves!''
''PSH, anywhere is ten times better than being a slave to some rich bastard, they'll fit right in here, Jaya isn't exactly a Yonko area now is it? Hah!''
The crew member let's out a small sigh, although somewhat relieved, for if there was someone to trust on then it'd be Diango, he usually had guts telling him jsut the right decisions. Diango tips his hat up to look over to the former slaves adjusting to the warmth, squeezing the sea water out of their torn clothes.
''Still got the casket of clothes?''
''Always! You make me carry that thing everywhere.''
''Well yeah, usually I like to change attires, but this time we'll lend them, or rather give them.''
''E-EEH?! But it's your clothes! I didn't know you cared -that- much about people outside of your family!''
''Don't get the wrong idea you fryhead! I just don't like seeing clothes of slaves being worn, everyone deserves to wear something nice.''
The crew member took a moment to take it all in, he had known Diango for quite some time, but never to this extent, perhaps the boss finally mellowed up just a tiny bit? The thought of Diango finally turning a happy page of his life brought the crew member to tears and smiled wide.
''*sniiiiiiiff!* You got it boss! I'll be right back!''
Diango decided to not respond back and gave an nonchalant shrug, he lowers his hat back down to cover his face, resting his left leg over his right one, he got himself quite comfortable with this flat rough rock, he hasn't slept for days so it was about time for a well deserved nap. Letting out a yawn he finally felt a nice dark abyss take over his mind and putting him into a stage of being asleep, but that sweet beautiful feeling of relaxation ends abruptly by a second crew member approaching Diango with a hasty body language, holding a big Den Den Mushi in his hands.
''Heeey yooou bossy, we got some more intel from the other group!''
Diango groans silently and rubs his left eye and has his stare and attention put towards the ringing Mushi. He reaches out for it and answers the phone with a lazy tone.
''What? Did something happen? Don't tell me we got more rats..''
''I-I'M SORRY SIR DIANGO! LOOKS LIKE WE WEREN'T THOROUGH WITH THE RAID!''
Diango rubs his ear from the yelling, who let the loudmouth of the group handle the communications? Diango shakes his head and fidgets with the tip of his hat as he got his mind into thinking, having survivors of the enemy was no good, did they miss a life boat or something?
''Surely they haven't gotten far, where and how many?''
''I'M LOOKING AT THEM FROM A DISTANCE, SIR! AT LEAST TEN MEN WITH RIFLES AND SWORDS, BUT THEY ARE DEFINITELY BRUISED FROM OUR ASSAULT! WE ARE CURRENTLY LOCATED AT THE NORTHERN COAST LINE OF JAYA!''
''Tsk! Typical, and they reached land, but they won't last long on this island anyway, them being acquainted with the marines only labels them as mortal enemies, still, allowing any of them to even have the chance to escape their inevitable death can't be tolerated. You guys continue observing, I'll have half my men of my group scouting around the west side for more potential survivors, in the mean time I will hit the town of Jaya and garner some connections.''
''UNDERSTOOD, SIR! THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO SEE THE END OF THE DAY!''
Finally he could shut the Den Den Mushi and put his ears to ease. Diango sat up straight and handed over the Den Den before doing one long janky stretch with his long arms. No rest for the wicked seems more true than ever.
Arriving to the infamous pirate town of Jaya Diango set his eyes to stay somewhere relaxing, the typical kind of place where pirates settled down for rum and cheering for their choice of lifestyle, but Diango merely intended to blend in with the group. His intention was to get on the good side of these scums, to take down the remaining he needed to make sure morons such as those living in Jaya to not side with the survivors. With a clear goal in mind Diango didn't mind going alone, besides, he is a fishman with a look that spoke intimidation, mere thugs wouldn't want to risk a loss of arm or leg. However, a few of Diango's crew followed him, as loyal and protective they were, a tad bit annoying to the Goblin Shark in fancy dress.
''What did I say about mindlessly following me? You two should've gone with the rest just as the operation implied!''
Diango's small outburst made the two of the crew members halt and adjust their ties and neckcollars in a slight fear, but they didn't go back, instead they stood in place with determined faces. Diango sighs and slips his hands into his pockets.
''Listen, you can be worried all you want, having a sense of duty to protect me is fine, but just don't disobey my commands like that, you don't think I am making this decision with at least some confidence?''
''We can't just risk of you getting outnumbered in the town boss!''
''He's right, boss! We thought at least having some form of backup is necessary for this mission! No matter where you go we'll keep your back clear!''
''God damn idiots, all of you. Fine, but you two better be discreet and stay in the shadows, fishmen are not supposed to be common around these parts, the locals won't panic if there's just one, and if a fight do occur I will silence it, and don't you dare to intervene conversations!''
Turning back around to face the edge of the town he quickly imagined the two of them were not there, ignoring their existence and continueing forward. Diango adjusts his hat and strokes the front folds of his magenta coat, his attire alone definitely would gain unwanted attention, not that he'd ever in a million years take his style off.
Stepping onto the first set of road bricks a couple of men chilling on a nearby building got glimpse of Diango walking. The men squinted their eyes, only then realizing Diango was quite tall. One quickly went inside of the house while the other stood around, standing up from the rocking chair to gain eyecontact with the lanky fishman. Diango looked to the side at the man, his glaring eyes was more than enough to not warrant an introduction.
''Hey, you human, where is the nearest pub, and preferably one that's active.''
''Hmm.. a fishman visiting Jaya, you don't look like a pirate, what's your deal here?''
''I got nothing to say to you, I am merely desiring the unrefined drinks from these parts, now tell me where it is.''
Diango did not have the patience to chit chat with someone insignificant, every second counted, the survivors could very easily steal a ship or some kind and get away, and if they do Diango and his crew would have to seek a new place to reside, for if the big guys get to know what happened you can bet your ass they'd send a dozens of ships to hunt down the Buzz Mouth Pirates.
''Down this street, it's just a five minute walk.. fair warning, fishman, some people don't like your kind, specially with an attitude like that.''
As if that would stop Diango from being himself, shrugging towards the man the tall fishman continued his way downtown, walking past set of buildings, every structure being unique in it's own way. If there was one thing Diango could admire of this place is the resiliance the people have created, an island just for pirates? A very rare sight for sure, it also got Diango wondering if some big hotshot controlled the ocean around here. Well no matter, Diango tried to look around, trying to see if he could spot his subordinates, and if they were doing a good job. From the fact Diango couldn't see them at least held the potential of them being real good, not that Diango actually doubted them in the first place.
''Oy oy, where ya think ya walkin' at? Fishstick.''
Diango couldn't tell at first where such rude words came from, his eyes sharpened and glared about, staring from the bunch of men having their eye at the tall fishman. Then he looks down, and sure enough someone awfully short in stature looked up at Diango with a thick pair of glasses and a fuzzy mustache. Another step and Diango would surely had his foot stomp down at the old geezer.
''Eh? What's your problem oldie? Want me to take another step?? Fugly bastard.''
Diango rolls his eyes at the old man and just walked around, not wanting to give the man the attention, but the old man didn't finish his business right there and then. He stomps his walking cane onto the ground and continued staring at Diango, Diango took the cane stomp officially as a 'threat', the old man had a death wish. Diango turned back towards the them with his toothy mouth frowning in full display.
''You wanna go huh? I'll have you know I am very fucking busy right now, so you got some real guts to be making a stand like that.''
Cracking his large hands, each knuckle letting a hard pop after another, his rings clinking onto eachother while bending his sturdy neck, a few more cracks were heard.
''Bwah! You baffoon, you mindless cricket! I can tell you are up to no good, those eyes of yours speak loud of malicious intentions.''
''Oho I got malicious intentions alright, all for you old geezer!''
''I am not talking about your lust for sheding blood, I am talking about your silent hatred!''
Diango raised a brow, now he got unsure on what the old man meant, but surely he was no senile grump, Diango kneeled down far enough for him to place his clenched fist infront of the man's face, Diango was slowly tipping to the edge of his impatience.
''Speak with words and not riddles, I rather not spend my energy on some fragile tiny man like you.''
''And you call yourself a pirate? Bwah! Take a hold of your anger and you might just be able to stay alive, if not, don't bother going forward. You don't even know your own emotions.''
It was hard to describe, but the more the old man spoke Diango felt like he was being read, slowly but surely he realizes this man was infact not talking straight out from his ass. But as if Diango would even acknowledge the old man's competence. He chuckles under his breath and eases his clenched fist, the people around stood in a tense stance while watching, but fortunately enough Diango ceased the threatening and stood up, putting his hands back into his pockets.
''Talk all you want oldie, but allow me to assure you that I won't cause any trouble~ Now then, if you'll excuse me.''
With a more stoic response it had eased the old man's worries, but to hell with some random geezer's opinion right? Diango turned his attention back to the long street and pacing onwards, people however kept an eye on Diango, the tall aquatic humanoid had just threatened an old man, surely that's an eyesore for a few. But it's not like the fishman in fancy dress enjoyed the attention, didn't really matter if it was frowning or cheering, he had his own fair share of sour concerts in his lifetime. Idly whistling to himself he thought he might aswell give the watchers at least a bit of entertainment, walking to the rhythm of the whistling music coming out between his long wide sharp shark teeth.
All the way down, around six minutes of just casually walking, Diango easily noticed the very vibrant and flashy sign standing ontop of a building. Good drinks, good ladies, good time, what an amazing slogan Diango thought, surely such a place would have a fitting taste.
''Let's get down to business, with tequilas and smooth talking.''
Straightening his shirt he stepped inside, although he had to bend down a bit to not crash his forehead against the door frame. He truly was probably one of the tallest individuals to step on this darn island.
