Pluto - 8
Quietly, Pluto followed the brunette from behind while erasing the sound of his footsteps. They went up a flight of stairs, and he would occasionally pause for a gesture from his superior to indicate that the coast was clear. Contrary to the girl, he seemed to show no signs of casting wary glances at his surroundings; if someone was nearby, he would know a lot sooner without the need of his eyes. By keeping a tranquil heart and mind, he allowed his senses to expand, listening to the wills of others.
Soon, the two quiet duos would arrive at the upper deck where the cabins were separated into four with narrow hallways. While they traversed one of the corridors, a couple of pirates turned around the corner, leading to the sensation of the brunette yanking him along with her as they hid against the wall.
“!” He felt his body tense up as a bead of sweat trickle down the back of his neck at having someone be this close to him. This was simply part of the endurance test, he thought. Ever since he became a marine himself, there had been all sorts of tasks that he disagreed with. He truly was never meant to be a soldier. He had no loyalty to the World Government, not by a long shot, and he lacked the sense of justice commonly found in this occupation. Then again, from what he witnessed earlier, most of these soldiers valued their own lives over justice. Although through cowardice and despair, they still shared the same willingness to survive like him. There were only a select few individuals he would be willing to risk his life for.
Interacting with others had been the most uncomfortable part about this job. It was difficult to befriend those who are technically his enemies. There might come a time where his true allegiance is unveiled, and when that happens, he’d prefer if no one felt betrayed by knowing nothing about him in the first place. By establishing no bonds, none can be broken. A soldier was a disposable resource in warfare, and he hoped he would be treated as such.
While Tsubaki seemed more interested in freeing the higher-ranking officers, Pluto was more interested on who their enemies were. For a pirate crew to have hijacked a marine ship, perhaps they had some notoriety. If the pirate captain was identifiable as someone with a bounty, then surely the marines had information on their current enemies such as what crimes they have committed - if there were any Devil Fruit users or unique fighting styles.
