Personality
Egghead: Morishi Shotaro is an intelligent individual, being of above average intelligence for a resident of the East Blue, and having scientific knowledge in regards to most major fields. He specializes however, in engineering. He’s very skilled with his hands, and often figures out the mechanics of something very quickly, even if it involves taking it apart and putting it back together again. Shotaro is also proficient at building gadgets, weapons, and tools to suit his needs as a scientist, and can often be found working with his hands on something.
Secret Identity: As far as the general public, and Captain Mask himself are concerned, the man known as Morishi Shotaro and the cyborg Captain Mask are two separate entities. They have different mannerisms, different speech patterns, and carry themselves differently. As a creation of The Hopper Foundation, he is known as Hopper-1 when he is being used by them. As they can remotely activate the “Hopper-1” persona without Shotaro having a say in what happens, it leaves the young man in a state where he may end up doing things without realizing it, and wake up hours or possibly days later.
Repressed Memories: Despite Shotaro not having any direct knowledge of his time being experimented on and enhanced by The Hopper Foundation, he sometimes finds himself tapping into memories of his time at the facility. What he sees varies, and memories can be triggered at random, or if a certain trigger is set off. When Shotaro is acting as Hopper-1, he is not directly in control of his actions, but can often gain glimpses of this time as “dreams” that he has.
Appearance
Morishi Shotaro is a strapping young lad. Standing at 5’11, he’s not the tallest around, but still gets asked to grab stuff off the top shelf. His hair is black, and messy. He usually keeps it a little longer than average, but not long enough to fall down by his neck. His eyes are a deep brown, and his skin is fair, a bit tan, and smooth. He’s fit for a man of his height and build, with a toned body and some visible muscles, but not to an extreme degree. Shotaro can always be seen with a smile, and carries himself in a lighthearted and earnest manner. He is always willing to extend a helping hand, especially to those around him just trying to get by. While he is simply out and about, Shotaro usually wears a large white lab coat, and a pair of wide spectacles. Underneath his coat one can usually find different brands of shirts, with designs varying from intense, to cool, to cute or funny. For leg wear, Shotaro prefers cargo shorts with lots of pockets, and usually wears sandals on his feet when he can. If the situation calls for it however, he switches to leather boots. After having undergone experimentation and augmentation, Shotaro is able to transform into the being known as Hopper-1. This has not left his body as pure as it once was, he has scar tissue on his jawline, as well as running along the back of his head. It's thin, so hair usually covers this one, but it's very noticeable if his hair is parted. There is also scarring on his hands from where his metal knuckles were placed in, as well as on the heel of his right foot, where his breath dial enhancement was placed. There is also scarring on his back, which is where most of his suit comes from.
While acting as Captain Mask/Hopper-1, Shotaro’s body undergoes some slight changes. His eyes change, and his pupils disappear. This doesn’t matter much however as his head will likely always be covered by his helmet. His body is also covered by the rest of his suit.
The Helmet: Captain Mask’s helmet provides him with both protection, and secrecy. His face is completely covered when his mask is on, and provides him with rudimentary protection from most basic forms of danger. The helmet is embedded inside of his skull, and erupts outwards when transforming. The helmet can be removed from his head, but large metal connector pieces will be visible on Captain Mask’s chin and the back of his head. The eyes are large and buggy, and a deep shade of red. The rest of the mask is a deep shade of bluish-green. There are also two small antennas sticking out of the front of the mask.
The Suit: Captain Mask’s suit is rather simple, and could even be mistaken for regular clothing, albeit with a bit of outer armor. The bulk of the suit is black leather, with studs and patches to serve as minimal defensive pieces. There are thick leather shoulder pads, and the collar is upturned, scraping along the sides of Captain Mask’s Helmet. The suit also features similar pads on the knees, as well as thick, green leather gloves and boots. On the chest of the suit is a large chest plate that offers Captain Mask the most protection on his torso.

Traits
Inhuman Swiftness: Shotaro, and Captain Mask for that matter, is very nimble compared to the average person. His lean physique and long legs allow him to maneuver around with grace and purpose. Though he does need to be able to react to use this trait defensively, when used offensively, it allows him to gain a slight upper hand in situations where quick decision making is critical.
Inhuman Durability: Shotaro is a naturally durable person, and is able to take more of a beating than one might expect for someone like him. While he isn't a weakling, he is by no means the embodiment of physical fitness. This however, does not wane his determination. Shotaro will always get back up after getting knocked down. He will often rarely display signs of distress or injury as well, even if significant damage has been delivered to him.
Conductive: Captain Mask is a cyborg, and thus, his metal and cybernetic parts are vulnerable to water. While he is not unable to swim, Captain Mask will be unable to properly use his enhancements if they become soaked in water, and will need to wait for them to dry off to use them again, unless there is permanent damage. In the event of damage, Captain Mask will need to repair the damage himself, which can be difficult or impossible in the heat of battle.

Background
Headquartered in a certain part of the world, there exists an organization, known as The Hopper Foundation. This foundation, serving as an entity outside the jurisdiction or control of the World Government, seeks to use its own scientific methods in order to assure that the world can find peace. Despite this seemingly noble cause, the means they use to try and attain this cause are what many would consider to be abhorrent. The Hopper Foundation sees no issue in abducting ordinary people in order to experiment on them, in an attempt to create forms of life that can combine the strength of many into one. Whether this be through genetics, cybernetics, or forced feeding of devil fruits, The Hopper Foundation has created a swath of sleeper agents to do their bidding around the world. Their most recent creation being Hopper-1, a cybernetic human work in progress. It is with Hopper-1 that they hope to slowly create the most powerful living weapon on the face of the planet. A warrior who needs not food, rest, or friendship. However, before this warrior can become what The Hopper Foundation envisions to be the final form of Hopper-1, he starts as a young boy from East Blue, Morishi Shotaro.
A strong mind from the weakest blue, Morishi Shotaro was born for discovery. However, it was not in adventure that he found his passions, but in invention. Shotaro would find himself fixated with science from a young age. Burying his head in books of various fields, he would soon gain a basic understanding of fields like chemistry, biology, and physics. However, the field that would truly capture his interest would be engineering. Building and working with his hands would consume him, day and night he would spend his childhood tinkering and messing with various gadgets and gizmos. This would eventually lead to him pursuing the path of a scientist.
Shotaro would travel the East Blue, utilizing his skills to help people in need, and solving science related conundrums. To him it was a simple life, seeing the world and helping its people. Unfortunately for him, certain individuals would begin to take notice of both his kind reputation, and his mechanical exploits. Building simple machines to make the lives of others easier was a commendable lifestyle, but one that The Hopper Foundation could not let simply act of its own volition. They could make Shotaro better than he could ever imagine. Able to “help” more people than ever before. Why stop at just building silly tools for the common people, when he could be an augmented human, capable of correcting the lives of wrongdoers forever. There would be no end to his heroics.
They came like shadows, snatching Shotaro away in the broad daylight, among local townsfolk during a friendly sparring match between two brothers. Shotaro was watching from the sidelines, but was knocked unconscious and brought aboard a ship just off the coast. A vessel that was not common for one to see in the blues, a submarine, would take him deep below the surface. Somewhere far away, Morishi Shotaro would be worked on. His body would be changed, only slightly so. He would gain basic augmentations to allow him to do things and commit acts that the average man would have to work hard and train to achieve.
The Hopper Foundation would be keeping a close eye on their newest creation, and utilizing him anywhere and anytime they see fit. After 12 long months, Shotaro would be returned to the world. His memories altered, and his body augmented. He was placed on a small sailboat, and left to his own devices. For now he would remain Morishi Shotaro, but when the time came for Hopper-1 to act, the Hopper Foundation would see no issue in letting him take control. Now, Shotaro has no idea what has happened to him, and only seeks to return to the life he seemingly has lost. Seeking to make up for lost time, he decides that the confines of the East Blue are no longer enough for him, and seeks to take his skills further, in the hopes of finding his way to the Grand Line.
