CHARACTERISTICS
Personality--Komodo is a very driven young man, paving a way for himself in this world through pure hard work and ambition. Coming from a complicated, humble background, he only knows how to furrow his brow and bury his nose into the tasks laid before him.
--On top of his admirable ambition and personal drive in most of his duties, this young Marine is known for being incredibly humble and gracious while doing it. Manners were a huge part of his everyday life from a very young age, and the notion of chivalry and humility in all actions was basically hammered into him.
--Compassion, or rather empathy, is also part of Komodo’s make-up, as he can step into many people’s shoes and have a guess at how they must feel, especially those who are less fortunate than others and the downtrodden. In this way, he feels like part of their story and their struggle affects him as if it was his own.
--As a result of his soft hearted nature, he can be somewhat gullible, letting his good heart cloud his better judgment as to what might actually be happening. He’s not thickheaded or slow by any means, but some nuance does escape him in these situations, where he should dig deeper instead of taking things at face value.
Appearance
--As a new recruit for the Marines, Komodo is a strapping, promising young prospect for the World Government. He is tall and well built, his years hammering away as a blacksmith’s apprentice blessing him with supple, yet well corded musculature. Wrapping tightly against his broad shoulders and wide forearms is a golden brown skin tone that has a few blemishes here and there and the random scar tissue on his extremities from the arduous work his early years entailed.
--The young man a friendly face, with a slightly rounded jaw covered with the thinnest of dark facial hair, and bright blue pools of cerulean for eyes. He has a genuine, warm smile that is complimented by an steady, earnest gaze that teases from behind loosely corded locks of black hair.
--Slightly bohemian in nature, Komodo will don the odd piece in his locks, or simple rings on a few of his fingers. A constant for him as an accessory are short golden bracers on his wrists that are embossed with the visage of a regal dragon. When on official Marine detail, he wears a standard Marine outfit. His personal set was longsleeve, but he rolls them up. When not, his attire has a more Chinese flavor, with a greyish-green Mandarin collared shirt and flowing brown pants tucked into thin brown boots. Adorning him at all times is the Tang Family wooden fan that proves he is his master’s student.
COMBAT DATA
Traits
-- Inhuman Agility
Komodo is an exceptional physical specimen, especially when it comes to his movement skills. He is an extremely supple athlete, every motion buttery smooth, without rigidity. These attributes lead to him being able to pull off very difficult acrobatic feats that take core strength, great balance, coordination and incredible spatial awareness.
-- Inhuman Durability
A young man who was naturally born with a high constitution, through many years of strenuous hardwork has cultivated a body that has a high endurance. In essence, the Marine is a glutton for punishment, being able to take from a pain and damage standpoint, much more than the average man can. Also, because of this he can perform tasks, from lifting heavy objects to battling enemy combatants, for longer.
Fighting Styles
Gentle Fist Art (柔拳法, Jūkenhō)
Class: E
Focus: Open Hand Strikes, Indirect Force
-- A traditional style that originates from his home country in the West Blue, the Gentle Fist is a form of combat that shares a possible ancestor with another Kano country system, the Hasshoken. There are several very distinct differences between the two Kano Kuni arts, yet their shared lineage is evident. This style is one that takes great patience and will, as it's obtuse, evasive nature is more nuanced than the average fighting system, where aggression is emphasized. Jukenho is elusive, yet sudden, as it's modeled after the observation of a dragonfly struggling agsinst a mantis.
Circular motion, properly placed angles and footwork are this style's calling card, as the user tires, confuses and frustrates their enemy, which is when the final blow is delivered. Where some styles can be considered wild, brutal and forceful, Jukenho can be described as deliberate, decisive, and efficient. Within the style's curriculum is a broad, basic understanding of standard weaponry that utilizes the same principles of the open hand techniques.
Techniques
Kobokushi/Yarishu (Palm Strike/Spear Hand)
FiST: Jukenho
Rank: 1
- A variation on the punch, and the style’s most basic attack, it utilises a ‘soft’ palm rather than the fist’s ‘hard’ knuckles. This broader surface area transfers the force of the blow further across the area of impact and into the opponent, amplifying the chance of a knock-back rather than focusing on damaging a specific point. The spear hand, which is the palm pointed between 45 and 90 degree angle is more often used to target specific points on an individual, and deal penetrative damage.
Te Tazuneru (Asking Hand)
FiST: Jukenho
Rank: 1
- With this technique for simultaneous defensive to offensive measures, the Jukenho practitioner can intercept an incoming physical strike by recieving the force with a supple hand (palm or back of the hand). Stepping in, the user then twists their lead hand to dissolve and deflect the attack as to unbalance the foe, within close striking range to potentially chain ttogether other attacks.
Gozoku Ryutsume (Five Pattern Dragon Claws)
FiST: Jukenho
Rank: 1
- A culmination of the stylist's skills at this point, this is a maneuver that utilizes the various aspects of the style, such as angular footwork, circular movement, staccato striking rhythm and both the palm and spear hand for a total of ten strikes at an enemy{or enemies}.

Background
-- There are a vast amount of misfortunes in this world, for Komodo this is a reality he has known from a much too early age. The details of his birth have been refuted, but in truth he is the son of the head of one of the noble families of Kano Kuni, and one of the servant girls who was purchased from the Happo Navy. His noble lineage was often times refuted, and perhaps, out of compassion or sheer guilt, they were both allowed to stay and continue to work for the family.
Komodo, so named by his would be grandfather, was an inquisitive boy, who had a knack for working with his hands, so much so, that he was eventually given a job as the apprentice to a family affiliated blacksmith at the tender age of 10. Despite the grueling nature of the work, Komodo, given the chance to earn money for he and his resilient, yet ailing mother, the young boy excelled, surpassing all of his teacher's expectations.
It was with these abilities that he came to catch the eye of a local legend of a sword master. The swordsman took such a liking to the boy that he began to instruct the boy in the martial arts. Things were good for Komodo as he entered his late teens, yet again misfortune struck, as it was determined that his mother had come down with an incredible sickness that would eventually take her life 2 years later.
It was determined that she had contracted the disease because of the nature of her work at the noble's house. Ire and hate began to grow in Komodo's heart, yet if he was being true to himself, it had been there much longer. It was just at this time, that the World Government had put out a recruitment for Marines, Komodo jumped at the chance to get a fresh start, somewhere he was untethered, to be free.
