Personality
-- She's a somewhat withdrawn little girl that does what she's told without much complaint, noted on much complaint considering the fact that she's known to be a cute and good kid. Often, she does whatever she can to help her superiors on the ship, or at base, or whatever the case, and seems to be nothing much of a trouble maker. If anything, people often refer to her as cute, and a child with potential someday to become a good marine soldier in her future. That more or less is true, but in reality, she's a very lonely kid at times if anyone could understand.
Plagued with her past, she often tries to connect with people, but in a more personal way, trying to garner a form of affection or praise from them, because she believes that the world the way it is while beautiful, is a place with little affection or care for some. She believes that the law is important, and should be maintained to the best of its ability for the intent of helping the innocent, but finds that it should not be inflexible, for all actions and crimes are situational. Seen as shy, and an introvert, she struggles to voice her opinions due to believing her voice doesn't much matter, and that she'll be disregarded anyways.
Her belief is that by working hard, travelling with the marines, she will be able to see more of the world, explore it, and gain experience and knowledge where she had not seen any of it before. Due to her history, she has a disdain of the ideals of slavery, abuse, and general mistreatment of people, especially children. One would find that she is dedicated to her duties, as well as moral ideals, but finds her views change constantly through the observation and impressions others leave upon her about the kind of world she lives in. Imprintable.
Appearance
A young girl that looks almost child like in appearance, mostly because she still is, she stands around 5'3", looks to weigh maybe around a bit over a hundred something pounds, and is quite possibly the most dull looking person you'd meet. Having a head of spiky black hair and emerald green eyes, she looks to be nothing special, and that's because she isn't. She has fair white skin, and lacks most characteristics that might make someone stand out when it comes to note. However, in terms of her outerwear, that's something rather entirely different.
When not wearing her marine "uniform" if one could even call it that, she often tends to wear outfits of black and green of which she believes goes very well with her overall appearance, and doesn't refrain from enjoying some of the luxury of personal wear. It is important to note that due to her uniform never being actually custom made, often times they might look a bit big or loose for a girl of her size, so she at times folds her clothing inward or adjusts them herself. She wears light metal bracers along her arms and greaves about her legs, seemingly for protection on the most part, but otherwise seems to lack the standardized marine equipment or otherwise. One thing that is evident about the girl is the fact she always looks rather neat and tidy, if she can help it that is, standing at a relatively proper posture with firm footwork, almost as if she's been trained and or performs training herself in personal regard.
While not exactly toned, she looks relatively athletic for a child her age, and she seems to have a certain long or idle look about herself, perhaps just one of those faces at times, but most often is bright and optimistic.

Background
-- Originally born on a poor island that she can't even remember the name of, she found that times were tough, especially for the young children of the island. Such memories lie faint for her, for she was quickly sold into slavery at a convenience along such a slaver boat, being taken to who knows where at a young age for a very cheap price. However, unfortunately, she would find herself never reaching a buyer as a group of pirates had struck at the ship along the night when she was around seven years old after she had failed to be sold. Ever since she was very little, she was an abnormal child, stronger than average, and swift. However, with the blast and subsequent raid, she had found herself indeed entering slavery.
Slavery for this pirate crew acting as a chore girl. Whilst doing these menial tasks for the less than ideal men and few women, she had found that they were more or less negligent other than for their hedonistic pleasures, though few had relatable histories that allowed them to feel pity for her situation, especially those from the effeminate side. She had previously been unable to be sold due to periods of sickness and an apparent lack of belief she would be worth the price they offered, many not believing that the little girl could "lift heavy loads" and "deliver messages as fast as a bird" could. What a small world.
Eventually, she had come to be on good terms with a pirate woman named Lysanne from the Goa Kingdom so she had claimed, and they had been on good enough terms that she would assist Yukiyo whenever, and however she could, having been a semi experienced member of the crew. As a result, one night, when nearing the territory of Loguetown, she had been released on a small rowboat in the middle of the night from her captivity, and by this point, she had been around eight or so. With tearful goodbyes, as well as hopes of meeting again, they had separated, and Yukiyo Takarashi found herself in a peaceful place. Her ideals are to continue training and travelling to gain experience while figuring her life out.
More or less anyways. Without employment and many options, she had used her newfound slave skill powers to find herself a kosh job at the World Government as a Chore Girl after a few years of her own independent training, and had earned herself a metaphorical roof over her head, three square meals a day [hopefully], and an outlet of travel that could eventually take her into the Grand Line without many interruptions, as well as eventual hopeful training, better wages, and other such opportunities so long as she remains dedicated. Well, now that she's twelve, the job's gotten to her. Not the worst job...
