"Could've sworn that was sand in my ears... just when did I start being able to hear things like Miu?" Kite pondered, briefly lagging behind the slow building alertness that came with the uninvited rogue.
Snapping to attention very quickly he glanced from either side of his shoulder trying to keep track of the voice. Hands very slowly crept towards his waist searching out weapons to strike back with, body winding itself up much like a spring readying its poise to lash out. If it weren't for the romantic lighting of the moon one might even say the hunter had a wild look about him. Far from battle lust, a willingness to clobber a legitimate threat.
"Typical... You compliment hers. But what about me stranger? I know exactly where you are," Gaunt rolled his eyes and tossed a bone off to the outskirts of the camp arcing the remains near Miu's flank.
It sunk into the sand, uncharacteristically this toss was followed by a very drawn out hissing. Almost palpable was the vision of a long tongue darting out of a mouth was the intensity of this noise. The source, clearly not amused by the slight and adjusting just in time to avoid getting hit or being located elsewhere to begin with.
"Who else among your number... can see me...? You're a forlorn, worthless pirate Solo but it appears you've encountered especially unique people. Dare I say... legitimate threats to our operations in the ruins," Sliding his tongue right back into his mouth Miroku glared from his blanket, slowly moving around the edge of the camp circling back towards Kite and continually throwing his voice a few feet just to ward off early reveals.
"Why is it that being in a desert automatically pits us against people... All we've done from the moment we got here is fight among you pirates-- to boot we're not even AFTER whatever treasure you want. Does desperation motivate you to be so hasty? Fear? Or is it just blood lust?" Letting out a sharp snort of air out of his flaring nostrils it was clear he was trying to play a part.
'Let's just play it cool. If we present ourselves as anything other than a threat... we can just eat in peace and leave. We could be back on the road... back towards Erumalu. All hinges on moments like this' Resisting the urge to shout as much he looked deep into the eyes of his comrades silently urging them towards his response through subtle twitches, blinks or other such signs.
"Oh it doesn't matter to me... you could be civilians fleeing a fire. Anyone tries to go near Erumalu and they're going to die a hideous death. Negotiations were never really my thing," A chuckle of dry raspy air exited out of scratched lips as the assassin clearly enjoyed his little jab at himself.
Rising up from the desert floor in his half human, half snake form the nagi like Miroku fashioned his desert cape into a cloaked hood. Perching it just over his face to catch a shadow his entirely black ensemble practically bled against the night sky. Leathers ran across his stomach and a disturbing mesh of scale and flesh flowed out of what should've been his legs. Colored like dark blue this snake anatomy was hidden mostly in sand with the human half swaying back and forth above ground. Crossing his arms and towering over the lot he took turns twisting his head around to get a good look at his opponents. Reading his face was difficult but many times he either smiled a great set of serrated teeth or pressed his lips into a thin line in thought.
"A mythical zoan user... another potential devil fruit user... maybe even two? Oh well... wouldn't be the first meal I've had in ages that fought back. Solo, move aside or I'm going to catch you up in this too," Miroku casually threatened the now completely stiff captain, hardly effected by the whimpering whine that came out.
Rising higher and higher in the air with his tail planted like a stalk the enemies final height was at least 20 feet or more. The thick of his coils were about the size of his body but the more time passed the bigger round they became almost like they were inflating. Much to the same level of bizarre anatomy was the faint movement in the sand nearest to Miu which disturbed a serpentine trail all the way to Gaunt who promptly stood up or jumped up. Not one for formalities Gaunt was the first of the group, or at least among the first to try and bum rushing the human tower in his hybrid form of an entire claw arm and partially shifted carapace on his shoulders and head.
Revealing itself near the charging claw wielding hunter Miroku's tail tunneled out of the sand whipping itself into colliding. Snake scales slapped scorpion skin and forced him to a halt complete with heavy breathing and attempts to pinch the underside. All failing, all resulting in Miroku chuckling sending an echo down his increased size. Gaunt wasn't exactly pinned but as the tail pushed into his front the man started to slowly sink, blood vessels bulging on his neck and a rallying cry surged out as the hunter tried to call out spare energy.
Kite was the one to run at Gaunt's left side catching him and allowing them both to fall to the ground in a softer patch of sand. Not even time for a witty line the tail came crashing down forcing the two to split apart and literally having the tale come in between them in a downward slapping arc. The turbulence from the blow sent sand in every which way revealing a healthy sized crevice in the desert=scape once visibility returned.
Closer to Miroku both Gaunt and Kite readied themselves for a now fully transformed Miroku. Who had so eagerly slapped the length of his tail around to prevent people from getting close to what was either a weak spot or something that could've prevented the transformation. All that talk, circling around, was to slowly unwind and spread the bulk of the tail across the camp allowing it to spring out bit by bit limiting ability to escape and overwhelming smaller numbers with sheer size.
"That's... that's a massive Snake! Almost like... Miu? Come to think of it... that's not a regular one is it?"
"Does it matter?"
"You've got a point, dumb to focus on small details in battle. But if it isn't a normal animal... could it be like Miu? Mythical?"
"... You're thinking yet another one has shown up? What are we like a beacon for Devil Fruit users?"
"MIROKU STOPPPP! YOU ALMOST HIT ME THAT TIME! AAAAAAIIIIEEEEEE!" It was almost comical how each thrashing of the tail, aiming for Kite or Gaunt and perhaps Miu always ended up grazing past the immovable Solo who was currently pale ghost white from fear and stress.
But also maybe, just maybe, because his body was flooded with scorpion venom. Either way while he could still talk he was stranded at Kites rock stump, unable to move anything other than everything from the neck up.
