Personality
Carter is an incredibly opinionated person. Chiefly, he wants to overthrow society as it currently is - the World Government is his main target of disdain. He is never shy about sharing his opinions on things, whether it be the quality of a meal, the attractiveness of a lady, the irredeemable corruption of the Marines, or how much of a rip off the proposed price is. That said, he knows how to use his head and to keep things quiet when they need to be.
A free spirit in some sense, he wants to see people happy and able to enjoy a better world, one where they can live to the fullest. He is driven by a curiosity and desire to see the world, wanting to know more about it all, how it all works and functions. De
A fierce partisan of the revolutionaries, Carter loathes monarchy and is deeply suspicious of even democratic forms of government as long as they are subordinated to the world government in some fashion. He believes it to be an ultimately corrupting force. He doesn’t feel mere rage towards them though, but on the contrary, is very positive and believes he is helping to build a new order of the people, and is spirited about the whole thing. He greatly admires pirates as well for their free-roaming nature, but also believes a more principled and organized form is necessary to ultimately take down the world government.
While knowing a fair amount thanks to his readings over the years - strategy, military and political theory, geography and biology, history, etc - he has a lack of direct experience in the affairs of revolutionary war, and well regular life really. Up until now he’s mostly floated on by his whims and interests, and still has a pretty unclear direct plan for himself, winging it so to speak.
Very enthusiastic.

Appearance
Carter is a tall and thin young man, somewhat pale with worn, baggy eyes. He has long, shaggy purple hair that reaches past his shoulders, and some similarly colored facial hair that should have been shaved a few days ago. He has some slight muscle on his biceps and calves, but not notably so. He comes off as slightly emaciated, though he eats enough to get by. He often wears a look of exhaustion or uncertainty, but when excited his features can light up. Both his arms and legs are somewhat long as well. He is fond of his standard green revolutionary cloak, but has an array of plainclothes for disguise and casual wear. Every so often he sports a crazed look.

Traits

Fighting Styles
Name: Gorilla Man Style
Focus: Heavy, Fast Blows
Class: E
Description: Gorilla Man Style is a close combat zoan fighting style. It makes use of the hulking arms and fists of the Gorilla to deliver harsh damage, quickly. This can be done either on two legs, or by lifting up off of four legs. Precision isn’t quite the goal here, as much as savage force.
Name: Gunfighting Merchant Style
Focus: Firearms, Accuracy and Speed
Class: E
Description: Having trained in basic firearms for the latter portion of his life, Carter is familiar and handy with them. He is able to quickly draw, load/reload, and fire with accuracy within a certain range. He is no sniper, nor can he fire over exceptional ranges, but within the confines of a narrow street, building, slum or vessel, Carter has become very quick witted and capable.
Name: Cloak and Dagger
Focus: Sneaky Stabby
Class: E
Description: Carter doesn’t have much experience at all with blades, but he understands the basic concept of crudely jabbing one in. Though so far he has no finesse or skill in terms of force, sure hand, or the like, he does at least know what to do with one.

Fighting Style: Gorilla Man Style
Rank: 1
Description: Delivering swift overhead beatdowns with his huge arms, Carter uses his gorilla strength to try and knock some hard sense into an opponent at very close range. However, the gorilla’s natural speed will make it a challenge to evade once Carter has gotten up close.
Name: Gorilla Gorilla Jungle Gym
Fighting Style: Gorilla Man Style

Background
Carter Deluise was raised by a merchant family of Water 7. Not a too prestigious one, but rather a clan that served the poorer and more risky districts of the city, importing and trading in exotic goods from further down the Grand Line and the four Blues. His mother had formerly been a slave in the Sabaody Archipelago, but that was from long before Carter’s time. In the city state of Water 7, Carter from a young age had the virtues of democracy stamped into him, and a strong distaste for the World Government and its meddling. However, a strong distaste is not what makes a revolutionary.
For generations the people of Water 7 held democratic elections for the mayorship of the city, however as Carter grew older and further explored the city, he saw contradictions between the republican virtues of the city, with the mass poverty that still clung to the slums, hidden just past the touristy and well to do areas. He never attended school, as it wasn’t provided in that area of town, but Carter had a curious mind and took to reading many books that came into the city from his family’s trade routes. He also became used to handling a flintlock, both for self defense out of necessity in the slums and out of desire to become proficient in some level of arms. He was trained by some of the merchant clan’s bodyguards in the skill. Into the young lad’s hand eventually came the publications of the far off Revolutionary Army. His family had already been dealing with shadier trades some time, and it seems they had worked out a deal with some contacts who wished to spread their propaganda through Water 7. Eventually an out of the way Revolutionary bookshop was founded in the slums, and Carter found himself increasingly engrossed and convinced of the various arguments put forward by the radicals. As he saw his fellows and friends among the slums lacking in education, good healthcare and housing, he increasingly believed the current order in the city was not correct. And the knowledge that it was far worse in other places, that there were lands were the World Government oppressed with impunity, filled him with a righteous if also wide-eyed and innocent zeal. Still, reading is not the same as experiencing.
While Water 7 was widely proclaimed as a free city-state where wide perspectives were allowed, the reality was the World Government was ever tightening their grasp of the important commercial hub. When it came to their knowledge that certain black market dealers, illegally anyways but not worth the time, were dealing in Revolutionary pamphlets and materials, a contingent of marines were sent to quash them. Carter wasn’t home at the time, but was out roaming the streets as he was oft to do. For the crimes of being an escaped slave, and crucially, being complicit in the spread of Revolutionary sympathies, the Delouise household and market in the slums were burned to the ground, those inside shot. In order to cover the incident somewhat, the surrounding block of cheap slums were also burned, and news coverage labelled it a freak fire within some squalorly and dangerously kept homes.
Carter received the news through one of his neighbors who made it out of the inferno and told him. While overcome with grief and rage, he knew he was in utterly no position to retaliate. He would certainly be executed as summarily once it was discovered he hadn’t been present. Taking with him only a copy of a book by Monkey D Dragon, Carter fled Water 7 as soon as he could, taking a cargo seat on a long trip to the West Blue.
He eventually wound up in the Illusia Kingdom, a place he quickly realized that was even more hostile towards revolutionaries, with a feudal monarchy well entrenched in power. The peasants were worked hard, allegiance to the World Government was absolute, and just within the past two years there was some major repression and battles fought between the Royal Army and some Revolutionary fortifications. Since their decisive defeat, the Revolutionary cadre on Illusia had went deep into hiding. Being openly curious and desiring to join up with the RA, Carter eventually fell in with a small underground RA squad, squatting in a street of Barbada Town. While still a greenfoot, he was offered a strange devil fruit by the local commander - something he had read about in books years ago - and ate. The fruit was the Eipu Eipu no Mi, Model: Gorilla. It gave him the ability to turn into a gorilla. While still very much getting the hang of his devil fruit, Carter has kept up his training with simple flintlocks. It Carter doesn’t have too much direction at the moment, but doesn’t mind all that much since he’s hit it off with his fellow revolutionaries and believes he’s joined a worthy cause. While the fight ahead on Illusia, much less the entire globe will certainly be a hard one, Carter believes the revolutionaries are on the correct side of history.
