Shandra's attention was focused entirely on the story. Tales of high-adventures around the sea would always grab her attention, even after she got to experience some of them herself. Part of it was her hope of trading stories, though she could never do that and risk letting her mother find out about her few months spent as a pirate. At least she could still keep listening to the stories from the traveling patrons. Hushing her tone as requested, she said "Wow, so you're on a treasure hunt? Does the map give you cryptic clues too like 'take twenty steps North from where Whitebeard would rest his head'?"
The conversation shifted to details of this little excursion. Mostly Shandra trying to get as many details as possible to "accidentally" end up on the same treasure hunt just for the adventure it'd bring. She didn't even care about the riches at the end, as much as it would have been a great bonus.
Though this didn't last more than a minutes before the two were interrupted. Not by the presence of anyone, just the fact that he was approaching them. From the earlier interaction, this much put Shandra on the edge as she lowered her hand to reach for her guns if it came to that.
Though rather than go at either of them, the large man went straight for the map as if the two women weren't even there. He simply claimed "Ma'am, I'm going to have to ask you to hand over that map to the marines."
Before his hand went anywhere near the map, the dancer had already intercepted it by pinning his hand on the table with hers. Though from the brief contact, she could tell she could tell she only managed that because the man let him. His build already suggested as much, but the effort it took confirmed this suspicion. Not deterred, she chastised him by saying "Hands off mister, aren't you guys supposed to stop thieves rather than become ones?"
"Any treasure at the location was stolen in the first place, so it's our duty to re-possess it and ensure it gets back to its rightful owners."
After a few gears turned in her head, there seemed to be a logic present. Stealing a mountain of treasure from people who did nothing to deserve it was definitely too far even for Shandra. Liftning her hand off, she said "Oh right, that makes sense I guess."
Almost immediately after, a voice from behind them offered a dissenting opinion. Kroop had laid down his tray, straightening his vest as he walked towards them. "Not in the slightest bit if you think about it for more than a second." The last part was served with a knowing nod towards Shandra, succeeding at annoying her. As he laid down his logic, the waiter circled the table. "First off, such legends are from a time so long ago tracking any relatives of the victims from so long ago, especially when they're scattered so far. Not to mention it's impossible to figure out what was taken from whom. Second, legally that kind of treasure is only considered to belong to the original owner and their family for fifty years, after which the owner needs to actively seek reclaiming it to claim ownership. And I have a feeling none of them were related to you." Stepping behind Angela for his closing statement, he finished. "And third, to steal from this lovely lady would be the greatest crime of all."
Seemingly the mans patience was running thin
"You do realize going against the officer of law is already a crime? I might overlook this if you hand me the map right now. You got ten seconds before we trash the-"
Before the officer could finish his sentence, he was already being assaulted. First one to get in on the action was Kroop, drawing a baton from his leg to smack the lieutenants jaw. Taking advantage of the opening his co-worker created, Shandra lifted her leg up to deliver a strong straight kick to his stomach unhindered. Not only that, but the gunshot that rang out gave it a good bit of extra punch, non-lethal variety of course. The force was enough to send him a good few meters back, knocking over an table on his way.
Rather nonchalantly, the two just turned to one another like they had simply fixed the lights. While both knew this was nowhere close from being over, it wasn't anything to worry about for the time being.
"You've gotten faster at the follow up."
"Well, you make it an easy hit."
