Personality
Emil is a purposefully overly jovial guy, who is polite and friendly to everyone he meets for the first time. Even troublemakers and people who are clearly hostile to him are treated with a smile and dad joke. Mister Terrin can find fun in most things, often caught in laughing fits that last a bit too long for most people's taking. Yet, friends aren't quite his thing for some reason, never have been. Sure he doesn't have anything against most, and most don't have anything against him. They just don't seek him out usually, as his behaviour can be a bit tedious. It doesn't help that he himself never shows any interest in getting to know a person better than a first impression. He's okay with having a few hours of good time with people, then moving on with his life.
Thanks to his impressive run as a gatekeeper back home, Emil is fairly confident in his abilities as a fighter. Even though he has seen the powers of people who've seen a bit more of the world than he himself has. It's hard to get him to back down, especially when his entire style is based on tanking everything he can. Running away out of fear is not a thing for him, only tactical retreats are acceptable should his goal be already accomplished or fighting become unnecessary for some other reason. Anything else would hurt his giant honour, he claims.
Emil's sense of justice is the leading motivator in his life. If somebody did something wrong, they have to be put in time out. Never killed by him, as the decision of wether or not they deserve death would be someone else's responsibility. But catching and teaching them a lesson himself or, if that seriously doesn't helping, handing them over to the Marines, is his job. The man can be a bit naive from time to time, letting people go just on the merits of their words. He knows, yet he would still like to give the people a chance before the government handles it. There's no way for him to be sure the World Government doesn't overact the same way the royals back home did. So far, he has barely seen any members of it, since they steered clear of his homeland.
Only three things have Emil turn red in embarassement. First of all, his Pyrophobia. The big man cannot be near an open fire without being extremely anxious.
Second, his Agraphia. Never having recieved a proper education, Emil can read, but not express himself through writing.
Third, his background. What the revolution did to Kjempe Island despite his years long efforts to keep his city safe is deeply shameful to Emil. His goal in live is to correct this big mistake and beat the leader of the revolt back then.
Appearance
Emil is a huge, broadshouldered dark skinned man with black curly hair and light blue eyes. His chin is, curiously, covered in a flaxen full beard, hiding the lower half of his face underneath it. Arms and chest are also graced with a thin layer of blonde hairs. Usually, he wears button up shirts and dungarees under his armor.
However, apart from the helmet that he sometimes removes in social situations, Emil rarely ever shows anyone what's below his protective steel. He wears a bland steel plate armor that, ever since he got degraded to a gate guard, has no insignias or other ornaments on it, only lots of dents and scratches. Yet, Emil does clean it responsibly, so it shines as best as it can.

Background
- Born in Ridder City, Kjempe Island, West Blue, 40 years ago, into a lineage of noble giant knights. His mother a former human farmer girl, his father the king's former personal guard, now retired. Kjempe is large island with many cities, ranging from a royal capital inhabited by giants to beautiful but poor farmland, where the humans worked.
- Mostly sheltered childhood, unaware of the troubles brewing in Kjempe's society. Farmers were getting annoyed by increased pirate and mafia acitivity hitting them hard while the nobles were safe behind their high walls. Emil didn't know any of this, he was trained by his family to become a knight like his ancestors and protect the island from evil.
- 8 years old: Ane, Emil's future protegee was born, Kjempe's royal princess. Emil was introduced to the baby and moved with his father to the Konge City. His mother was not to be allowed in here. There they continued to train while the boy also learned to help the servants with household acitivities.
- 12 years old: The current personal guard of the king staged a coup, sponsored by the Mafia. Supported by heavily armed farmers and a couple of other power hungry nobles, they set the royal capital ablaze. Emil managed to grab Ane and carry her away in time, hiding in the city sewers. His father was murdered during the attack, but the coup was eventually unsuccesful and the revolution struck down hard by the giants.
- 16 years old: Emil's training continued among other knight apprentices. He was also allowed to be present during Ane's lectures, where he got a rough understanding of reading and math, although he was never able to practice actual writing.
- 20 years old: A fullfleged Konge City knight now, Emil was placed in charge of strike against the Mafia in Bonde Village, a tiny town in the farmer area. Just like the human revolution had done 8 years prior, the town was set on fire and the criminals smoked out. Emil felt horrible.
- 26 years old: The young man continued to protect and serve the princess, until he allowed himself a faux-pas one day. Refusing the brat's order to "burn the village" of a thief who stole a couple of necklaces from her, Emil was promptly degraded to Konge City guardkeeper.
- 30 years old: Roger's pirate era hadn't hit Kjempe Island's core at first, due to the large amount of dangerous giants here. Yet by now, some of the farmer cities had become festering pots of sickness and crime. More and more often these criminals tried to bang against Konge City's doors, but the great Emil stood in their way - none would pass, and none inside would here about it. Under no circumstances would the guard at the gate let them trigger another village burning thanks to their own stupidity.
- 34 years old: Someone passed. Not because he beat Emil, but because he had help from the inside. Even though he could have, as hours later he actually did beat and almost killed Emil: The very revolutionary army managed to infiltrate the city, kill Queen Ane and create so much chaos on the island that the humans from the farmlands could easily swarm in. In the resulting battle, Emil stood face to face with the leader of the invasion, a heavily armored man named Stian, who beat him to a pulp with his unexpected strength. Upon waking up, Emil swore to find him for destroying his homeland.
