{Appearance & Personality}
-Personality Traits-
Alignment: Hot-blooded Chaotic Neutral
ConfidentKaito is one who is (or used to be) effortlessly confident in his own abilities. This comes to the point that he will rush into impossible situations expecting that he’ll win without considering any other possibility. He will plan in the moment but he does not make backup plans or safety nets for himself. He doesn’t consider them necessary or worthy for him. He makes a plan and generally sticks to it, especially if it was a plan of his own conceiving.
Straight-ForwardKaito is a straight-forward person. He dislikes tradecraft and backhanded deals. Instead he prefers to put all his cards on the table and just say it how it is. He doesn’t understand the need to be underhanded or play mind games with others. A stubborn fool he has been called, as he has neither the patience nor guile to understand the mischievousness of those before him. He moves down the straightest route in general rarely straying from his path save for in time of greatest emergency.
Momentum GathererKaito is someone who works best off of momentum in all walks of his life. He can be ruled by feeling and whether going up or down with them it is hard to get him off said rocker. When he gets going he bulldozes his way through things. He rides his emotions into depths and up mountains. Getting him to break from such directions tends to require somewhat extreme.
Good ListenerKaito can be quite the good listener, or better said he’s good at pretending to listen but not hearing whatever the one talking to him is saying. With years of practice as a barkeep he’s been that man who stands and listens to the troubles of those who drown their troubles at his table. He’s good at knowing when to say something nice or say nothing at all in this way though it extends little further than this.
SociableKaito is a fairly friendly person all things told. He is interested in the lives of others o a point, he gets excited but their lives and enjoys living through other’s experiences. Imagining what it’d be like for him and often eventually giving him the impulse to go try it for himself. He is good at getting along with others even with his at times blunt personality, many of his friends liked it because they didn’t have to worry if he was being less than truthful with them. He can be easy to read.
LoyalKaito exhibits signs of loyalty. Though it is often hard earned for him those who gain his loyalty have it for life. He allows those to rely on him in any situation and does his best to uphold the promises he makes. While bonded by a loyalty he is absolutely faithful, he will not be bought or turned from the side of such a person no matter what they may do. He gives them his trust though also expects it in return.
CrestfallenAfter the loss of his crew Kaito is in a terrible mood. He’s become a bit of a sulker dreary and often consuming himself in alcohol to get by it. The darkness which surrounds him due to it hangs over him and he recently hasn’t been so pleasant to be around. His fallen crewmates haunt his dreams they’ve given him dark rings about his eyes and he’’s become more cranky and withered because of it.
Virtues: Friendly, Confident, Truthful
Vices: Cocksure, Stubborn, Depressed
Fears: Loss of Friends / Family-Physical Traits / Appearance-
Height: 6’9" or 205 cm
Build: Medium Build
Eye Color: Light Brown
Hair Style: Unruly Slight Long Brown
Ethnicity: Spanish
AppearanceKaito is sort of ruggedly built, ages of training and real combat experience have resulted in a body muscular for all those looking on. Especially since he has no care to hide it from others. As of recent his face has taken on a more serious nature, downtrodden with thoughts of the past. Otherwise he tends to exude a less serious nature that might be easily approachable assuming one is not bothered by his some-what war-like look. He moves about with confidence often fairly lax in his defensiveness under the assumption that he’ll be fine either which way. Of course while he has a sheath he prefers to hold his sword at all times grasping the weapon in his hand at almost all times.
Kaito is chiseled, from his face to his body. He keeps shaved for the most part preferring the cleaned chin feeling. His hair gets little care from him apart from the once-in-a-while combing of his fingers through it. Thus it often remains unruly. His often exposed chest reveals a line of rippling muscles as are his limbs. They are bound tightly by skin giving more definition to the muscles than necessary. His hands are a bit overly large thick and strong giving him better grip strength and power. He is everywhere covered in fading scars, silvery white lines criss crossing his body show the true nature of his spent life and the hardships he’s been through.
Kaito wears a very comfortable clothing set. Traditionally in an asian style, he wears a reddish-orange haori jacket as his most common of outer layers. While he does own other haoris of a similar style but different color he prefers the reddish-orange one most of all. Beneath that he wears a sleeveless vest, black thin and a soft cotton. This is sometimes replaced by a wife-beater or something else that’s sleeveless but he prefers the vest most of all. Finally topping it all off are baggy pants or shorts depending on the weather. They are done in a style not to get in the way as such they tend to be shorter than leg length and gather about the leg a bit up from his ankle. Beneath that he has been known to both wear cloth shoes and/or wooden geta. About his waist is usually wrapped a sash of varying color or if it’s too hot the haori jacket the arms tied about him. At the right side of his waist is the large sheath for his sword and on the left side is the holster for his pistol.

-Inventory-
Brewing TankardA large tankard made for brewing alcoholic beverages. Kaito takes it with him everywhere, it is seasoned with the flavors of many a different beverage. A meter and a half tall and a meter or so in diameter it is a large construction of laminated wood otherwise unadorned.-Skills-
Non-Combat Skills
BrewingKaito’s greatest hobby is the brewing of alcohol. Himself he doesn’t actually drink it that much having little tolerance for alcohol but he enjoys the patient act of making. Though he mostly makes stuff such as shochu and sake he can make stronger drinks. The issue is when he’s test tasting those he often becomes very drunk with clouds his judgement and makes those barrels have much less caring control and they can vary wildly in excellence.
Tending BarKaito has years of experience tending bar. He has a multitude of alcohol and non-alcoholic mix drinks in his repertoire to be made. He also has gathered a multitude of stories from those who have gone through his bar giving him a deep knowledge of the world though through often jaded perspectives of his often drunk customers. This experience has also given him sharp ears and a deftness at listening much and hearing little. Something that gets him in as much trouble as it is worth as a skill.
CookingKaito is an okay cook, often at his bar when the cook was taken sick or something he put his hand to work at it. While no professional he does have a small bench of recipes that he can make to what he would call an acceptable standard. In particular he has a like for stir fry and fried rice dishes though he can go as far as deep frying certain things. Nothing has as much grace or uniqueness of flavor that a true cook could bring to bear.
Combat Skills
Inhuman Endurance - Human Trait #1As one will tell you, a journey across the Grand Line is a marathon not a sprint. Kaito is one of many who has experienced this journey, fought nature and men first hand and came out on the other side hurt but not down. Over the trip he built a natural endurance which is aided by his own hardened willpower and built strength.
Inhuman Strength - Human Trait #2Kaito is a powerful man, any look at his body will tell one that. Strength exudes out of that large body that is rippling with toned muscle. When he's in a mood it can be terrifying to behold. He has strength befitting a man who has already made one journey across the Grand Line and lived to tell the tale.
Scarred Body - Additional Trait #1A journey's worth of fighting have given him many a scar. They have hardened Kaito's outer skin. It's thicker and tougher than a normal human hide protecting Kaito against the kind of blow that would take another to his knees. His body has prepared itself to sustain through more, it's a testament to what he's been through. However beneath those scars are remnants of unhealed wounds which when struck bleed out harder than usual. On the positive side, his silvery scars are something for the ladies to look at.-Fighting Styles-

Weapons
Rank 3 Ryo Wazamono Blade
450 X-Poinz (225 X-Poinz)
A wazamono blade of the Ryo Wazamono grade, Kaito inherited it from the captain of his former crew as a final memento. Not the sword fanatic that his former captain was he knows little of the history of the blade past it’s former owner. A traditional katana in style it is extremely durable by make though the blade is slightly dull. It’s a long blade with a swirling pattern in the metal that rides all the way from hilt to tip. The blade is slightly longer than a usual katana but not quite as long as a nodachi. The hilt has a blue-green sea fabric wrapping about it. The sheath is a replacement basic and black with none of the adornments of the original weapon’s sheath.

The aged blade has weathered centuries of battles coming out unbroken on and on for generation and generation of wielder. This is due to its superior durability. It may not cut as well as it used to but the blade is an aging legend a defiant stand against the idea that time weathers all.

-Family-Parents - For all Kaito knows his parents are still living their peaceful lives back on Resinbar. He wishes them all the best but until recently he hasn't really missed them all too much. While his thoughts may stray to them never for very long.-Friends-Jack Kartey + Kurt Oldman - Former Captain & First Mate - Of all the people in the world, Kaito misses these two the most. It is the most horrid thing to have survived both of them given that they were six years his younger. The memories of their loss are still quite fresh for him. He can only hope to bring honor to their names by completing the journey that they started though he knows not how he'll do it.-Foes-The Daibukai - Enemy #1 - The object of Kaito's drive at the moment. His purpose is now to defeat him though Kaito has no idea who this Daibukai is. His first plan is to return to Pucci and start from there. No matter how long the road back takes.
{History}
[/div]Youth (0-12)Kaito was born an only child in Resinbar’s Poppy Town. His parents owned the general store in the center of Poppy Town. He grew up quickly a youth of energy and a certain level of disrepute in the town. There were few children his age but those that there were he often played with. An outdoorsy type he enjoyed play stick fights, long games of tag in the fields of poppies and the long summer days of Resinbar. His childhood was mostly uneventful apart from his apparent rebellious streak. He got in trouble multiple times as he grew up. First for releasing a neighbor’s dog, then for leaving cow dung in an old man’s house and of course a constant trouble with him, sneaking in and peeping on the older girls and younger woman of the town or at least what few there were. In his youth at the very least he became known about the town as in irreputable lech.
Teenage Years (12-16)In his teenage years Kaito cleaned up his act a bit. He stopped with the peeping and began to help work at the store more. Picking up chores around the store he still found time to stay active and happy. His naturally sociable nature alongside a sudden growth spurt at the age of thirteen suddenly made him quite popular with the ladies who soon forgotten his once more perverted habits. He was confident and slowly built up a more rugged exterior. Right before thirteen he started dating a young girl from the other side of town by the name of Grace Young. A childish romance spurted between them for a few years, they were cute and the awkwardness between them palpable. They continued for a while, often hanging out together and chatting away the hours as they watched the sun set on the poppy fields.
But over time they grew apart, it was nothing in particular just a lack of interest in each other apart from some physical romance and sentimental feelings for one another. So when Kaito decided he needed to make his own way in the world and head to a larger town they separated. It was friendly and he promised to mail her when he could. But at the age of sixteen he finally decided that the town wasn’t big enough. He needed to look elsewhere to fulfill his want of adventure. So he left, a quick goodbye to his parents and a little money stolen from their safe aside he left on his own, with the clothes on his back and a stick in hand all that he had to his name.
Whiskey Town (17-23)Appearing in Whiskey Town Kaito was left homeless for a long while. With not much more training than how to run a general store and a talkative sociable personality he found it difficult to make his own in the town of youth. The long journey had left him without any money left but still he aimed to make his way. It took a while but he finally found work at a bar in a rougher part of the town. Starting off as something near a busboy in the kitchens he proved himself a good worker. And with practice he was able to elevate himself to one of a rotating group of barkeeps at the bar’s watering hole.
Thus with his sociable attitude about him and a growing knowledge of drinking and handling drinkers Kaito began to grow once more. He spent years working in that bar, both behind the bar and dealing with the more rowdy of customers. After a few years working in the fleabottom bar in the roughest part of Whiskey Town he was scouted. Going up the food chain so to speak, he was offered a position at one of the more popular bars of Whiskey Town near the center of it. The decision was quick and easy for Kaito and he moved on. Upscaling his work place part of his bonus so to speak was a single pistol the owner gave him so he could help with controlling the more rowdy folk. But it wasn't a pistol instead it was the dragoon which he carries around to this day.
At that bar, with its increased popularity in mix with his own skill and social reparte Kaito became a well known and well liked bar tender among the folk of Whiskey Town. But for him he made special connections with certain frequent flyers of his work hours. Specifically among them was a pair of youths a year or two his younger, Jack Kartey and Kurt Oldman. The three became fast friends over the years they spent together. Spending hours working late into the night it would often end with just the three of them in the wee hours of the morning as sun was about to break just talking and chatting. Thinking about their dreams and their futures. Often there was talk of doing something, making something of themselves, but in the end they were happy with their lives and just continued to keep living them. In his twenty third year, Kaito managed to vouch for the pair with his boss and Jack and Kurt joined him working at the bar. The two acted as bouncers and sometimes waiters depending on the day and the run of the clientele.
A Date with Destiny (24)His twenty-fourth year was a crazy one. This was mainly a reality that came to when a pair of pirate crews came to Resinbar and thus Whiskey Town. As the two pirate crews came to blows with each other in the town as one might expect destruction was soon to follow. As many people hid, Jack and Kurt planned. Of course Kaito planned with them, for the most part he found their plan incomprehensibly stupid. But then perhaps that's why he ended up joining them. As one of the crews quickly commanded victory, the trio set forth. Jack and Kurt with katana of their own and Kaito with his dragon. They stepped forth on the town's behalf to take on the pirate crew. Practice as bouncers made them confident, perhaps overconfident as they took on a mildly injured crew of nearly twenty five. The battle raged on and on, and on and on. To the town's disbelief the trio fought tooth and nail through twenty four of the pirates until only the captain remained.
Wielding the famed blade Namiha, the captain dueled the trio of them for nearly three hours, breaking one of the katana in the process. But finally victory was achieved as the trio managed to wrestle the blade from the man's hands, tie him up and secure their spoils. Prestige and power was all theirs, what pirates were deemed reasonable were allowed to stay in the town the rest kicked out. Such did their date with destiny pass. But through it awoke a new passion for the trio. One that would lead them onward.
Romance Dawn for a Trio (24-25)What caused it exactly Kaito wasn't sure, but those pirates awakened a passion among his friends for fighting, for adventure, and now they knew what they wanted to do: To form a crew, to cross the Grand Line, and see the New World. Before he knew what was up Kaito was roped in on it, caught in his friend's excitement he was part of the crew before he could even think a second time. Along with a group of young friends of his pair they formed the Whiskey Pirates. Captained by Jack with First Mate Kurt and Second Mate Kaito, they gathered their crew of twelve and made for port, Meito Namiha in tow.
Arriving at Porter Town they did what any good starting out pirates would do. Stole a ship, of course being the good kids they were, the ship they stole was a pirate ship. The twelve of them sneaked on to the ship in the dead of night leading to a full-shenanigans battle consisting of eleven youths and a Kaito chasing a bunch of pirates off their own ships before pulling out of harbor with half a week's worth of supplies and no one who knew how to use a Log Pose. But in the moment the trio laughed as they stared into the sunrise of dawn as lost pirates watched them float away ship and all.
To say they were unprepared was to say too little. It took a day for them to find the Log Pose and make the brainless decision of going wherever the arrow pointed. A good idea, but they choose to do it for none of the right reasons at the time. Unprepared for life on the high seas, stormy weather, lack of food, and innumerable dangers the Whiskey Pirates start was anything but certain. But nonetheless half starved the crew arrived at the floating island Jandama not a week later.
Jandama Island (25-26)Arriving on the Fall side of Jandama Island the crew immediately settled down for a bit. Their harrowing first adventure at sea was if anything a learning experience. The crew as a whole decided that perhaps they needed a crash course in pirating. So they joined the Fall Town militia working as a group they went to battle against those of Spring Town. They learned swordsmanship, figured out how to raid and most importantly get out quickly. Earning money and gaining experience as a group took first fiddle to everything else was soon the decision made and they stuck to it. For nearly a year the Whiskey Pirates stayed unknown by the world taking time to improve themselves. Finally nearing when the year was up they up and left Jandama. It was a decision based on enough time spent but also an awkward situation building up because of an unfortunate turn of events with the First Mate's girlfriend upon the island. A laugh was had and they were off.
Further Adventures (26-28)Arriving at 1000 Tunnel Island they raided the Mole Kingdom. A dastardly journey into the deep tunnels of the island involving a fair amount of running from giant worms which caused as many laughs as fears. Their final haul were a bunch of valuable minerals stolen from the mole people and a giant worm body that they hacked to parts when suddenly finding themselves trapped. Unfortunately the body being so large, they ended up having to leave their treasure behind and flee yet another giant worm who chased them off of the island. An interesting journey if unproductive.
From their they came to Drum Island while it was under Wapol's rule. The cold of the island being a little too much for their sensitive noses the legendary crew made out to hide on a quiet shoreline of the island where they stayed out of trouble and imprisoned firmly in their ship for the long haul of waiting for the Log Pose to set.
Beginning of Legends (28-30)Continuing onward from their they came across medium-sized marine vessel heading across their bow. A couple of glances between each other and then a folly-some firing of the cannon and the game was afoot. Their ship, small and fast did its best to weave their way around the hailing fire of the marine vessel. It was soon obvious however that there was no escape, which left only one option. With the turn of their vessel the full crew led the boarding party of their marine enemies. Chaos reigned as their team of thirteen empowered by courage, stupidity, alcohol, and an exploding barrel of powder they threw in first slowly began to overpower the marines. One by one, two by two, the group fought their way through the marine grunts and then the officers appeared on deck. Three on three the Commander, Ensign, and Master Chief Petty Officer squared off against the Whiskey Pirates Trio. All other fighting stopped as the melee of monsters commenced. Swords met swords, fists, fists, and each on their own was perhaps matched. But this wasn't one-on-ones, and with the wind on their side the trio triumphed and defeat befell their marines counterparts. Generously they gave up their small ship to the marines knocked out and defeated and took for themselves the prize. The marine vessel, laden with supplies and an interesting Log Pose heading north to Kyuka Island was there's.
From there the legends began. So they were off, hopping routes heading towards the resort island. The crew crashed into Kyuka at full force. With the marine ship at their head they stormed a seaside resort and started taking over. Terror and raiding aside they took to running a few of the resorts. As their name grew they attracted new members to their crew and new enemies. Twice they fought off upstart pirate crews unlike their own building names for the Captain and First Mate. It was after a while in control of the island when bounty hunters began to appear. That when news hit of their bounties, the Whiskey Pirates Wanted. With the bounty hunters came the understanding now that the marines were after them. If that hadn't been apparent before it was now made clear. And at first warning that they might be on the horizon the Whiskey Pirates scrambled. Deserting Kyuka in hours they hurried on to Houma Island.
Crashing into a marine force sent to stop them on the island, the Whiskey Pirates pulled their miracle of Houma. As their ship pulled in to port it was boarded by marine forces. Who found themselves on an empty ship bereft of any signs of the crew. And then moments later KABOOM. In an instant the ship exploded taking with it a full contingent of marines. Then from the depths of the water the Whiskey Pirates arrived. Swarming about the docked marine vessel with 'scuba suits' made of empty whiskey barrels they came, they saw, and they stole.
The Sudden End (30)Their upset at Houma is what Kaito believes eventually earned him the recognition of obtaining a bounty even if just a small one. But of course all good things come to an end. For the Whiskey Pirates, that was Pucci Island and their meeting with the Daibukai. Not even a Daibukai actually, a sub-group of the crew under the Daibukai's Left Hand Man met the Whiskey Pirates at Pucci and offered them a position under the Daibukai's protective shield. Of course that was not happening, the crew built on adventure and freedom could never chose to align themselves with the Daibukai.
Obviously their rejection was not taken well, and thus battle rose up between the Whiskey Pirates and the Daibukai. Hard fought and terrifying the Whiskey Pirates were outmatched no doubt about it. Their caliber was high but still not enough and one by one the crew was cut down. Youthful orphans of Whiskey Town dropped down never to stand up again. Then it was just three, Jack, Kurt, and Kaito once more. Back to back they fought to the skin and bone against the Daibukai's left. For an hour and then two, they balanced their strength against his. Rage for their lost comrades overwhelming they fought back hard taking enemy after enemy with them. The left hand last of all they brought down, all three of them drawing him down with the last breath within them. But it was all for naught, the fight spent Jack and Kurt and along side their fatal wounds, they left Kaito alone. Bereft of crew and purpose he could do not but bury his friends, take Namiha and stand uncertain of where to go from there. Drive left him and he stopped.
The Sorrowful Wanderer (30-Present)After that Kaito was lost. Unwilling to continue he turned back, caught in depression he regressed. Turning in on himself he took the ship and turned the other way and began to float. With supplies a plenty the ship wandered the Grand Line going wherever the currents might take him. Islands entered and passed flew by his eyes as he dragged his feet through life. He ate, he sailed, and he relieved himself. For almost a year even sleep evaded him. Finally after a second year his ship arrived at his home of Resinbar. Like a shade out of hell his presence went almost unnoticed as he passed through town after town returning to Whiskey Town.
Unwilling to go home to see his parents he had come here instead. Thus sitting before what once used to be the haunt where he had met his precious crewmates he sat and contemplated all that had befallen him. All the years since his original departure from this town nearly nine years ago. He blinked as his life slid past his eyes. Memories which had haunted him in his sleep returned once more and before the bar where it started he relived them all.
It was also there that he was rejuvenated once more. After a time staring blankly at the bar he noticed a board on the outside. Bounty posters of the trio hung atop he walked over to them and looked. Words of encouragement, words of laughter, hatred, all sorts of emotions scribbled all over it and he smiled for once. Their memory, his friends' memory, his tarnishing of that he felt ashamed. Raising his head up he looked forward, the light shone a little in his eye and Kaito decided. No more, he had things to do, and most importantly friends to avenge.
