“Venom & Vigour”
Harnessing natural resilience and simply being attuned to nature’s ways, Montbretia and Mambo have both learned to manipulate their very vitality in a manner similar to that of the legendary ‘Seimei Kikan’ (Life Return). In the Kuja’s case, her youth and diminutive stature allow plenty of room for physical development, though she is by no means capable enough of achieving such things alone. To that end, she relies upon her serpentine comrade, whose own capabilities involve reconstituting the natural venom he excretes from his venom glands. Together, the two make a formidable team; room for growth combined with flexible toxins are a potent combination, especially when Monty’s body has developed a bizarre affinity for her company’s otherwise detrimental concoctions!
Level 1
Mambo: Monty’s trusted sidekick can change the colouration and chemical composition of the venom he produces, giving him access to a total of four different types of toxin. The liquid has a milky constitution, is typically translucent, and still has to be injected via a good bite in order to be effective against anything. An amber toxin has the standard paralytic effects and dulls the senses; the magenta toxin causes an extreme burning pain and muscle cramps in his victim; azure venom causes the victim’s body to feel deathly cold and lethargic; and, finally, Mambo’s lime toxins induce nausea and sickness. Mambo’s venom isn’t particularly potent, but it does act quickly, with symptoms manifesting well within a minute of being bitten and lasting for up to an hour.
Montbretia: While Mambo gains multiple toxins to use against foes, Monty has a natural resilience to the venom he produces. So strong is this girl’s affinity for her coiling companion’s chemicals that she can rapidly process the substance if injected into her blood, nullifying the negative effects and instead gaining moderate boons that enhance her physical performance. Admittedly, these benefits last only a few minutes, and having the venom in her bloodstream (even if it is quickly processed) prevents her from gaining the benefits of an additional venom within around ten to twenty minutes of injection. If she does, the two toxins merge and overwhelm her resistance, effectively inflicting both negative effects upon her for a few hours. Amber venom (normally a paralytic agent) improves Monty’s ability to process what’s going on around her, effectively sharpening her senses somewhat. Magenta venom (which is usually agonising) amplifies her physical strength to a slight degree. Azure venom gives Monty improved speed (rather than the slowing effect it usually has), and lime toxins bolster her resistance to damage and illness.[/font][/sub][/ul]
