A navy ship approached one of the ports of Loguetown. The flag was raised high and the deck almost had a shine to it. With how well-taken care of it was, it was a ship any captain would be proud to command.
The crew greedily stared at the approaching island. Some even cheered. Their captain had said they were to rotate on patrol duty around the town, meaning that many of them would be able to relax for the first time in weeks. Some were already deciding what bars to visit first.
Axel was not a part of this crowd. Instead, he was in his captain's office, standing at attention with two other men. They each wore the same Seaman Recruit outfit. The man to Axel's left had light purple hair and piercing blue eyes that sent chills down Axel's spine. To his left stood a man with brown hair and a greenish tint to his skin and several holes in his outfit.
Everything in the office was neatly taken care of. Any paper work that hadn't already been filed away sat on a small pile on the corner of his desk. Every group of objects had its place with almost obsessive detail.
The captain himself was standing, turning away from the window wall behind his desk that overlooked the ocean behind and towards the three men in his office. He stood tall, just about a foot less than Axel himself, despite being only human. Even though he was considerably shorter, his stature was far more menacing than Axel's, his body rippling with muscles that the shirt beneath his coat could barely contain. His bright blond hair was short but subtly became a tad bit taller on top. His eyebrows were about two inches thick, his eyes were green, and a stitcheda-up scar ran down his left cheek.
"Men, I have called you in here because I have a task that the entirety of this crew would be too clumsy to handle." He motioned to a Den Den Mushi. "The reason we're stopping at Loguetown is because one of the higher ups notified me of a runaway slave here. The full attention of the entire crew would cause too much commotion, and she might be able to slip away more easily. The slave is a small child with white fur and has the resemblance of a chinchilla. Any questions?" The three men didn't say a word, although the description left each a bit confused. "Good. I trust you won't have trouble finding her." The captain dismissed the three before taking a seat to finish the small pile of paperwork.
The ship docked and the marines were happily laid their feet upon solid land. The purple-haired man Axel knew as Ed had already made his way into town, wanting to get this over with as soon as possible. The other man strode right on past him. "There's no need for you to even try, Abomination. I'll have the girl captured, brought on board and returned to her captors before your small mind even realizes where we are," he said with a smug smile.
Axel wasn't one to be goaded that easily, but weeks with this guy left a sour stomach that he wished he could alleviate. "You're projecting your insecurities onto me again, Shon."
Shon swiftly turned around and pointed a finger towards Axel's face. A small, sharp blade of grass pushed out from it. "You better watch your mouth, freak! Do you think the captain or anyone for that matter would really care if you went missing?"
Axel ignored the comment while gently pushing his hand away. "I don't know what you plan to do, but the captain gave me a job that I intend on accomplishing. I'd rather not waste time with you." He kept on walking right out of the port. There was a lot of ground that needed to be covered.
