~ Mess with The Bull and you get the...? ~
A new exciting adventure was sure to ascend under the blissful blue sky dotted with white puffy clouds all over the wondrous Romano City. The capital of the Holy Remunun Empire sure was incredible compared to the towns and places the Foxfang's crew had just been on recently. It was almost like they had never been in any place so civilized in their entire lives, when in truth they probably have and it was only Rane who felt like every new place was all different and exciting from the last ones. But who could blame him? With all the magnificent pale white buildings surrounding their small crew on their way from the ship to the market square, everything had to feel new and astounding for the mink folk, even the slightest sounds and instrument strings popping whenever a street performer would come across their path.
Performers, merchants, just good ol’ plain citizens – this island was filled with all sorts of people, except the ones the crew itself was representing. There weren’t that many minks anywhere on any island other that Zou and the little ones surrounding it, and it wasn’t hard to see why. Beings much different from your ordinary human were not welcomed in many places, and often shun upon, much like the fishfolk. However, with so many colorful people surrounding them, not that many stopped to stare at the slightly furrier bypassers, although it was only a matter of time before someone discovered their pirate ship at the shore and reported it to the marines docked nearby… Thus, they were in a bit of a hurry to stock up on some food and beverages, even if Rane didn’t look like he was ready to leave anytime soon.
White fluff covered tail swaying from one side to the other, Rane enthusiastically marched forward as the less eager crew followed in his clopping footsteps, throwing loud complaints about the humid heat and the fast walk pace the captain had been having for a while now, but no matter how much they whined, the man, also known as the overgrown child, didn’t respond and was as if he never heard them in the first place.
Streets filled with music, laughter, smell of delicious food coming from the open booths and people… There were so many places to go and things to see, it was almost painful for Rane to decide where to go first. As he started walking by all those colorful shop stands along the crowded street, his blue eyes began to fill with childish wonder and soon it became impossible for Rane to not wear a wide cheeky grin on his face whilst greeting random people that were passing by him.
“What to do, what to do!?” Sounding much a child would, only with a grown man’s voice, Rane tries hard not to show his excitement to the outer world but fails miserably at the task. His eyes won’t stop moving from one merchants table to the next one, which all look like they hold the same stuff you could pretty much find on any other island, but for some reason the man made it as if he had never seen such items before.
“Oooh~!? No one told me you can buy hats here for your Den Den Mushi!” Not that anyone in the crew wanted to dress up their transporter snails in stupid costumes, but it was worth rejoicing for.
“A-And what about this – or this?!” Surprising most of the merchants safely behind their own stalls, Rane swiftly bounced from one table to the other, fidgeting and fondling any item he could lay his hands on.
“THESE BOTTLE CAPS HAVE FACES CARVED INTO THEM! How many should I buy...” Usually whenever he was pondering about unimportant matters such as this one, he wanted to hear his crew’s opinion and let them decide for him, thus almost like from a habit he spun around to face his friends, only to realize they were nowhere to be sighted.
“Guys..?” Although he seemed a bit dim, it was not hard for the captain to notice that the five of them had been missing for longer than a few seconds now. But since when? As if to act surprised from something that kept happening to him on almost every trip the crew had, Rane widened his blue eyes to match his shocked tone;
“Have they been kidnapped?!” Sweat slowly sliding down his chin and dripping on the cobblestone beneath the hybrids feet, he let out a feeble sneer and quickly scanned the area around him, still unable to match any of the strange manlike faces to his crew mates. How did he lose a bunch of furry minks in just a few minutes after arriving there!?
Wiping the cold sweat off his forehead, the captain soon let go of all the items he had been holding until then and began walking to the direction they had come from together earlier, and much like a lost child in a huge crowd, he tried seeking for his friends whilst avoiding bumping into people “flowing” from the opposing direction.
Alone and lost on one of the biggest cities of the whole Holy Remunun Empire, he was sure to be caught by a marine sooner or later – either that or he’d starve from hunger because no one in the crew trusted Rane with a lot of beris and were usually there to pay on his behalf… Oh boy. He had to find his nakama and soon before something bad would come his way instead.
