Sheldon was elated to get recognition from Randy. He felt a strong feeling of pride in his heart. He wasn’t sure if Randy meant what she had said, but he felt good about it either way. What the hunters had done for him, and for everyone else, gave him hope. It gave the entire town hope. Sheldon wouldn’t forget about them, and neither would anyone else. They may not have been worldwide heroes, but for the people here in the village they were just that. When Randy gave him the gift he didn’t know what to say. He took it with a bit of hesitation, and quickly put it on.
“T-Thank you...”
For a brief moment he felt like tearing up again, but the headband seemed to pull out some sort of bravery in the boy he hadn’t had before. He smiled and waved to Randy as she left, holding in his emotions. It was going to be sad to see them go.
Devlin took his time learning the ships ins and outs with Barnaby. He had never had a ship of his own, at least not anything like this one, and it took a bit of learning for him to really come to an understanding. It took the better most of the day, but when it was all done there was nothing left but to continue their journey. Devlin took his place at the helm of the ship. He waved goodbye to everyone as the Brave Selachii started to pull away from the dock.
“Goodbye Everyone! Take care ok?”
The crowd waved and wished their goodbyes. Barnaby, Sarah, and Sheldon stood in the front of them all to wish their goodbyes as well. As they waved, Sheldon broke free from the couple and ran forward onto the dock to make sure the hunters could see him. He wore Randy’s headband still.
“Come back someday when you are big and famous ok?”
Devlin laughed a little as the Selachii started to float away from the island.
“You betcha kid!”
And so their first journey came to an end. The hunters sailed off into open seas, unsure of what types of adventures awaited them next. Devlin was ready for anything though. As far as he was concerned this was a great way to start. He even had his first bounty under his belt. He set the course for their next destination, pulling out Joe’s bounty sheet to admire his work again. He couldn’t help but keep the copy of it as a memento of their first adventure as the Hard Rock Hunters. Even if Joe was only worth…. ONE BERI!
Devlin tossed the bounty paper to the ground as he had done two times before.
