As soon as Randy looked the other way, Devlin had picked up her bowl and began to down it. By this point he wasn’t even using silverware anymore. With both bowls of food down the drain, he leaned back in his chair, rubbed his stomach, and let out the sigh of a full stomach. He waited for a bit continuing to mess around with Sheldon, till Randy came back from getting dressed. Devlin wasn’t used to seeing Randy in anything like a sundress. It suited her in a strange way. It was a shame she was going to ruin it by fighting.
Even though neither one of them were talking about doing it, both knew that a fight was coming. Devlin had made up his minds about the marines, mostly that they were not marines. His encounter with them at the square was all that he needed to confirm this idea. It wasn’t the fact that they were cruel or that they were into public beatings either. It was that they didn’t arrest the two hunters. Devlin had dealt with marines lots of times, and if they wanted you out of the way you would just get arrested. It was simple as that. These guys didn’t even consider it, and Randy had actually attacked them. He wasn’t sure if Randy was thinking the same thing now, but he didn’t think that mattered. Randy was ready to fight regardless.
“I’m going to get dressed too.”
Devlin left the room to get his own set of clothing. He kept his head down a little as he went through the house. When he got into the room he saw the clothing sitting out for him. A standard white tee shirt, a button down Hawaiian flower style, and a pair of tan cargo shorts. Devlin didn’t take too long to get dressed up. He wondered where she had managed to get the clothing for him, as it actually wasn’t too far off of fitting. The tee shirt was a little tighter, but he kept the button down open so even if it was a little tight he wouldn’t notice it. The shorts fit pretty well too, and all in all these cloths were comfortable enough.
While Devlin was in the room finishing up getting dressed, Sarah took this time to get in a little more conversation with Randy. She could sense that the two of them were ready to do something, and she wasn’t planning on stopping them. It was an odd tension though, the calm before a big fight. She wasn’t used to it like Devlin and Randy were. She had to do something to break the tension up a bit. She tried to ask something unrelated, but it didn’t take a genius to see what she was trying to do.
“How long have you two been traveling together?”
