"Grr! You winged rat!" His cutlass having been knocked out of his hand by the sudden impact, Captain Elatha was perhaps not in the best position to be insulting a marine. That said, Seawoman Recruit Aluco Striggs was more occupied with her transformation than the fact she was standing upon a pirate's chest. However, the man in gold's frustration caught the attention of her round feathered face. Once more, shining ambers locked with devil reds in a contest of wills.
"Ho-hush! I already said you're under arrest!" Talons clutching the magnificent golden coat, the tawny owl tried to make herself appear as threatening as she thought she sounded. Feathers ruffled up on her back, though the now loose and baggy uniform restricted such a display and actually served to lessen any chances she had at being intimidating.
"I don't have time for games!" Flailing arms managed to force the feathered femme off, her downy body rolling across the ground as she scrambled back onto her feet in the least graceful of manners. The Moonsilver Captain, on the other hand, was back on his feet and running. Running back towards the docks and, most likely, looking for an escape. A far cry from the boldness he and his crew had demonstrated on arrival, the pirate now seemed far more emotionally influenced than he had done on first meeting. His calm and collected demeanour was not completely stripped away, a placid shell replaced by complete desperation.
"Ho-hey! Stop!" Awkwardly waddling forwards as fast as her owl legs could carry her, the tiny tawny began to follow in pursuit. Never one to give up on her duty, Aluco's persistence and tenacity drove her onwards, even with the slight twinge of pain that remained from her wound. All this stress and strain was doing her no favours, but the recruit would follow through on her duty to uphold the law. Unfortunately, her ponderous plodding was nowhere near fast enough to catch the shimmering blond blur that was Elatha as he raced away.
Why not just fly after him? You are an Owl, after all. Wise words spoken, advice entirely ignored. Even as the resting personality watched with the very same set of eyes, it would not dare interfere with current events; not within plain sight. One life saving move was enough, for now. As Aluco ambled forwards, she could not help but flutter his wings, the small amount of lift she was generating seemed to ease her movements.
Come on! Come on! I can't let him escape! Wings flapping harder now, using her beak to pull the sleeves of her uniform up and allowing her plumage to spread, the recruit found herself missing steps that she was sure she was making. Before too long, the brunette bird was missing several clumsy steps at a time, but if anything her speed was increasing between bounds. The wind silently passing over her feathers, feeling them rippled gently in the resisting air, Aluco soon found herself in the midst of flight. With every stroke of her wings, she felt herself gain altitude, slowly dropping back towards the ground between beats.
"I- I'm flying?" The graceful, instinctual soaring of an avian it was not, but at least she was moving more quickly now. Striggs was beginning to realise just how much energy went into flight, however, her muscles already beginning to feel the strain. Her side sore, the repetitive twangs of searing pain that shot through her with every wing motion were not helping her concentration. Her flight was irregular, at best; her course only maintained through sheer force of will as she stared unblinkingly at the shape of her pirate prey.
"I can see his ship!" Assuring herself that Elatha must be attempting to make an escape, the dedicated damsel redoubled her efforts. By now she was sweeping over the heads of others; the visage of Loguetown itself looked entirely different from her perspective. On the ground, vision was limited based on the crowds and market stalls, but up here the only direct obstacles were the buildings themselves.
What happened to the sail? Amber eyes scanned the path of flight, an unknown vessel docked ahead of them. A hole had been scorched clean through the mainsail. Though perhaps the Captain could not see it from his position? Either way, there was no way for him to make it out to sea. Missing such an important sail had permanently locked the ship, and there was no way he or his crew would be able to replace or repair it in time. The Marine presence had already made itself present, the familiar white and blue uniforms amassing themselves at the port in order to tend to their wounded and put an end to the chaos. The Moonsilver Pirates were no Hard Hats, for certain.
"Like I said before! You're under arrest!" Yelling at the top her voice, Aluco Striggs began her descent, reaching out with talons in front as if preparing to grab her prey. Though, by now the red eyed devil had stopped dead in his tracks, staring towards his own vessel. Had he now noticed the hole in his sail? Probably, but that was not all. Amber eyes looked towards the ship itself for a moment, only to be greeted by a blinding flash of flame and the ear-splitting rumble of explosions. Magnified by her heightened senses, she soon found herself hitting the docks and rolling several yards, finally coming to a halt just a few feet away from the Moonsilver Captain.
"My... Crew... Ship... Devi' Fruit... Why?" By the time the dust settled, Seawoman Recruit Striggs found herself lying on her back, uniform fitting better than before. Actually, it fitted perfectly. Sitting up, the baffled brunette was greeted with two unusual sights. She no longer had feathers; her body had returned to normal? Just in case, she made sure to count the toes on her now bare foot.
One. Two. Five! That said, beside her the well dressed pirate wore a gaunt and empty expression on his formerly handsome face. On his knees, arms loose by his sides, the blonde stared at the smoking remains of his own vessel, the Moonflower. The mast had now fallen off, collapsed into the waters of the East Blue. The sails burned away and the hull itself splintered open. A once proud ship was now naught but a wreck. His crew lay about the place, all injured to varying degrees.
"You're not going anywhere. You are now under arrest." The click of the handcuffs sounded as Miss Striggs made sure to arrest Elatha. Finally. But it was not over yet. In the corner of her eye, she spied a figure running. Another one of the pirates trying to escape? Probably. Without a word, she got to her feet and bolted. Chasing someone down in human form certainly felt more 'normal', but maybe there was something to her new power? Either way, she did not understand how to control it just yet and was rather more comfortable on the march.
"Hey! Hold it right there pirate!" Slipping a little on bare feet, the recruit's amber hues now locked onto the unusually portly fellow and his row boat. He certainly had a lot of treasure on him, but for all his apparent 'ability', the chubby chump was not your stereotypical seafaring criminal...

And you thought that was a pirate?
Last couple of posts now, I think. We'll finally get this thread over.
