Wondering around Raito [Aeris, Shaki]

Ring sighed for the millionth time that day. Okay so maybe not millionth but it was a bunch of times! Shaking her head she layed back on the gaint rock her and Snake had been sunbathing in. When was her adventure going to start? She has been stuck in this forest for years!! Okay so maybe not years but at least a day! That's like forever right?

Ring groaned and screamed at the sky, "WHERE'S MY ADVENTURE?!"

Ring flopped back onto the rock pouting. This wasnt how she thought her first time out would be. Where's all the new things? She hasnt even seen people. There were a few screams she heard before but by the time she got there, there was noone around.

Ring sighs again, "This is no fun Snake. I was expecting new things and interesting things and what do I get? The SAME things! Plant here, animal there, a forest that wont let me out."

Snake blinks open one eye at her then goes back to sunbathing.
Ring growls and shakes her fist up and down. "No no no Snake! Your suppose to entertain me! Do something funny!" Ring watches him expectantly but Snake just continues to ignore her.

Ring sighs sadly, "Mean Snake",then sits up angrily, "Geez~! I know that they say You know you are truly alive when you’re living among plants, no wait, boulders? No no Tiger! Yes that's it Tiger, no, lions? Anyways! But living here is hardly an adventure to me!"

Ring sighs and lays back down staring at the sky wondering if being cursed was that big of a deal. "Not like I hurt anyone. I cant even turn people to stone." Ring sighs and closes her eyes wishing that an adventure will come soon.

The Wandering Swordsman was indeed wandering. Having landed on Raito Island not but yesterday, the man of science had already made his way into the centre of the island, home to an exotic jungle.

Cane in hand, the doctor was looking to gather some new specimen of foliage. It wasn't just about adding new plants to his ever growing collection of herbal remedies. It was about adventure and seeking knowledge; not knowing what the next plant he finds will hold in terms of properties, both positive and negative.

So far he had come across a few that were interesting. There was a plant that potentially to be used as an anaesthetic. Another that had caused partial paralysis in the finger tips. And there was one that had caused him hiccups but apart from that, there wasn't much that he had found.

As his travels took him deeper into the forest, the 32,000,000 Beri bounty man found a strange species lying on the floor; a human girl. The strange aspect to her wasn't the fact she had a snake by her side that seemed like a pet but the fact she hardly wore anything.

Admittedly, it was pretty warm, with the sun having shone like the rays of radiation that it was, but being dressed so scantily wasn't something Gerard was too familiar with. Perhaps it was a custom amongst young girls in these parts of the world. Despite that, it didn't seem the girl was aware of the dangers of the forest at night. There lurked wild beasts who would eat both her and her snake for a midnight snack.

Now Gerard wasn't too sure whether to wake her up or let her sleep and guard her. At first he crossed his legs and sat besides her, observing the girl as she slept. It didn't take long for his boredom to kick in and next thing he knew, he began to test the sensitivity of her skin by gently caressing her skin with the end of his cane. He then began to prod every now and again, hoping to get a response.

Ring struggled through the fogginess of sleep trying to awaken herself because something wasnt right. What was wrong? Hmm there seemed to be a poking sensation.

Ring opened her eyes and stared at the strange specimen towering over her and it seemed this thing was the cause of the poking as it seemed to have a log stick in it's hands and it felt like she was using the word seemed alot in her thoughts right now.

Ring shook her head as she sat up and then turned her focus to the strange thing before her in wonderment and stated, "Your quite a pretty woman," Ring tilted her head to the side confused, "though I have never seen a woman quite like you. Do you come from this island?"

Ring thought for a second then her eyes widen and she gasped happily. Ring clapped her hands together and leaned forward exaiming the person before her in excitement, "Or maybe your not a woman! Maybe! Yes just maybe your a type of animal I have never seen! Well you certainly look like a human but you could just be tricking me!"

Ring gasped in dismay and stood quickly while she pointed a finger at the animal accusingly. "How dare you try to trick me creature! Well I wont let it happen again!" Ring said accusingly.

Ring stood there for a moment just pointing at the creature then sighed and shruged. "Hmm okay!" Ring pulled out a small booklet with Data written at the top and a pen seemingly from nowhere. "Can you believe this Snake?! Finally something new happens!" Ring grined at Snake then turned back to the creature before her. "Speak creature. Your the first new thing Ive seen since being dumped here. Tell me your species and how you look human and how you can talk." Ring grined widely excited for something new to finally appear.

Snake just shook his head and went back to sunbathing. It didnt seem like this creature would hurt his master and he quite enjoyed where he was right now. No point in moving if he didnt have to.

The Doctor was perplexed. What was this woman talking about? Here he was looking for new specimen to study and what does he find, a mentally defected girl. Well it wasn't wise to assume such a thing although Gerard was pretty certain there was more than one thing odd about her. However, it wasn't a matter that would puzzle him much longer as he was more than capable of figuring this out by engaging the girl in a conversation.

"Pretty woman? Pretty I may be, depending on the perspective of the observer, but a woman I am not."

The man of Crystal informed her very calmly as he made his way back to his feet. He had come across mental patients before during his time working with his mother at the hospital. He stopped for a moment, staring at the girl and blinking hard; trying to figure out what was wrong with her.

"However, I am neither an animal. I'm not quite sure what you may seem to believe but I am in fact a human and therefore appear human although I am a male; a man and not a woman as you incorrectly assumed me to be."

Gerard spoke in a manner that would most likely confuse the girl but it was important not to assume this girls level of intelligence was low. This was the manner of speaking he was brought up with and it was wise to stick to what you knew best.

"Are you following me thus far?"

Gerard questioned her understanding before continuing.

"I have just arrived on this island but I have travelled many parts of the world including the Grand-Line. Now I must ask, how did a girl like you end up in a place like this? Do you not have a family? A mother and father?"

The 32 million beri bounty man hoped his probing questions would allow him to analyse this girls mental capabilities a little further.

Ring stared at him as the now identified MAN spoke to her, pen and notebook forgotten in her hand as her eyes widened in understanding with each word he spoke.

"EH?! Your male?!! A man?! The opposite of woman?! The male of the human species?!!.....Huh" Ring grinned at him in excitement. "This is amazing! My first day outside Amazon Lily and Ive already met a MAN!" Ring jumped up and down happily and started documenting everything she saw in this new person, speaking outloud as she went. "Identity of new creature, Human male. About 6 feet tall? Hmm maybe a little more than that. Well built must keep himself fit. Probably a speed specialist. Blond hair and green eyes attractive traits, though Im not sure if that is attractive among the male part of the species. Wears lots of green, hmm camoflogue maybe? Too many clothes if you ask me." Ring continued to take notes staring intently at the man before her before closing her book and putting it away...ah wherever it goes.

Ring smiled happily at him. "Ring's name is Ring and my snake here is called Snake and I have no family to speak of. Im originally from Amazon Lily so your the first man I have ever seen." Here Ring's grin widens excitingly. "I was banished from the island for being cursed and was dropped off by the Kuja pirates on the first island they found on their trip. I have been here one...whole...DAY!" Ring twirled happily but then comes to an abrupt stop frowning grumpily. "Now im stuck in a forest that wont let me out and its just like amazon Lily!" Ring growled and rubbed her hair in aggravation. "That wouldnt be too much of a problem if there was new things to see!" Ring sat down pouting. "But everything is almost the same!" Ring sighed and stares up at the man sadly. "I wanted to see new things and do new things and try new things and I get the same old same old."

Ring smiled and jumped up, "BUT! Your here now and you have alleviated my bordom! Good job!"

"So Miss Man what is your name?" Ring smiled not knowing if this was the correct way to address a man but it doesnt hurt to be as polite as she was capable of giving. She didnt know much about how men liked to be addressed or about men in general so the best way to go about it is ask, but first the name.

It was a tad bit weird watching another person analysing Gerard. He was usually the one analysing although he rarely used a notepad. His mental memory was pretty amazing for the short term and he liked to recall it during the night when he wrote it up in his findings. He had many such books at his home. Although many were lost when the 'Destiny Pirate' Vessel was destroyed. It wasn't too big of a tragedy as most of the information was retained in Dr. Yagami's head and he had managed to get around to re-writing his discoveries.

"Ring... From Amazon Lily. Hmmm.... I see. So you were part of the Kuja Pirates I believe? Or at least living on the island under the protection of Pirate Empress Boa Hancock. I don't know much about it although I do recall the little I have read."

The scientist gathered all the information he had learnt about the place to confirm he had the correct place in mind. From her story, although it was far-fetched, it seemed that the girl wasn't insane after all. Just ill-informed about the world.

"So the rumours about no men being allowed on the island are true I see. Hmmmm..."

He paused for a moment; crouching down to analyse the snake known as snake. He thought about using his hand to delicately pet the animal but decided to go against the idea. This girl might be protective of it and it wasn't wise to get too friendly with someone who wasn't the type to do so. Especially considering Gerard was the first man she had met.

"Mister..."

Gerard replied upon being asked what his name was; and before Ring mistook it for his actual name he corrected her previous mistake.

"It's Mister man. Men are addressed with the title of Mister. It is ladies who go by Miss. So my name is Mr Yagami... or to be correct Doctor Yagami. I'm a doctor. My full name is Gerard Yagami... You can call me Gerard though... Although many just prefer to simply call me The Doctor.

Titles are such trivial things but if it helps associate you with a particular trait then I see it as a useful thing. Wouldn't you agree Miss Ring?"

Taking a vertical stance once again, the doctor began to pace around the shrubbery, examining it as if it were the most casual activity in the world.

"This island goes by the name of Raito. We are currently in the forest area, however there are many people present on this island besides you and me. Many women but also many men like myself although not all are as pleasant as I am.

Don't mind my curiosity but you mentioned being cursed. What exactly do you mean by that? Why did your people abandon you?"

It was a bit of a personal question but it was necessary to understand the woman better. At least he had been able to diagnose her as sane now despite his initial assumption that she wasn't.

Ring smiled widely and clapped her hands. "Oh yes! I am just a resident not part of the pirates and your a doctor?! Really?! That's just way too cool! Miiiiiisterrrrr" Ring enuciates the word trying it out for the first time.

Ring squeeled happily having learnt a new word then she remembered him asking about her curse. "Ah! Well Im not sure how I was cursed. I mean you should know about the Emperess and her sisters yeah? How they faught the Gorgon Sisters and gained the ability to turn into snakes and turn people to stone. I was told that an eyes resides on their back and any who look at it are turned to stone instantly. Poof!" Here Ring raised her hands and made a gesture of something dissappearing.

Ring looked down sadly. "Im cursed to turn into some kinda weasel thing, Im not sure what kind of animal it is. I didnt even kill anything or do anything and Im cursed!"

Ring slumped down to the ground sad. "So since I was cursed I was banished unless I can find a way to remove my curse." If Ring had animal ears they would be drooped in depression.

Ring sighed, "Im not sure what Im going to do now. I have never been anywhere but there so Im a little lost of where to go and what to do." Ring smiled up at the man a little strained. "I do know that I want to see new things and do new things and meet new things and experience new things, but its kinda difficult if you dont know what to do, right?"

Gerard had remained quiet as he listened to the words of the Amazonian. He was fascinated to learn about the Pirate Empress Boa Hancock and her sisters. So they were cursed that allowed them to turn into a snake or turn people in to stones… Fascinating…

However, turning into snakes seemed very similar to the power attained from consuming a devil fruit. Gerard was well aware of this. After all, he possessed a rare form of devil fruit himself. The logia devil fruit that allowed him to become the element of crystal. The girl claimed she was cursed and had been banished for this reason but it seemed to be the same thing as the Pirate Empress and her sisters. From Gerard’s understanding, the girl had consumed a devil fruit and had thus become ‘cursed’.

“Pardon me for asking. I know it may be difficult for you considering you are saddened or maybe even ashamed about having attracted this ‘curse’ but can you show me how you turn into this weasel like animal. I don’t believe you are cursed you see. If that was the case, I too would be a cursed man.”

Gerard spoke softly, trying not to hit a sensitive nerve and have the girl become emotional but upon claiming not to be cursed, he suddenly remembered that the devil fruit did in fact give him a sort of curse in the sense that the sea became an enemy and drained the user’s strength.

“Actually I would be lying if I said there weren’t any drawbacks but being a doctor I think the best way to explain it would be to call it a mutation; a positive disease that has more benefits than drawbacks. You see, this curse you claim to have is also known as a power; the power of the devil fruit.

In this world we live in, there is a phenomenon known as the Devil Fruit. It is also known as a cursed fruit by some but in actuality, it is no different to a medical drug that can be consumed by an individual that provides a specific use to the consumer. This could range from turning into an animal, being able to produce effects that are otherwise impossible in this world and even turning into elements such as fire and ice. In fact, I can turn into an element myself. Behold, the Crystal Man.”

Gerard took a step back and let the marvel of the Sekiei Sekiei No Mi unravel as his body transformed into pink quartz. He smiled at the girl, wondering what she would make of it. Now she would definitely have questions that would need answering. At least it was better than believing she was cursed.

“Now being able to use these powers is a gift but there is a drawback. Your body will have an adverse reaction if it comes into contact with sea-water or sea-stone. This is the only side-effect, the only drawback to this power. So now that you know more about it, do you still consider it a curse?”
