Like water escaping from a broken dam, the marine soldiers ran out of the marine ship. With their guns bobbing up and down as they make their way into the streets of Treegap, the captain of the ship went to get ready for the ambush. As he was about to head out of his office, a sound broke his concentration from the nearest desk. It was a den-den mushi. Grunting, he picked up the phone. It was the mayor of Treegap. The captain, Mr. Slap, said a croaky hello into the den-den mushi in which after a few seconds of silence and cranky hello's, he decided to hung up. He was stopped by a deep voice that proclaimed that he was the mayor of the island and that he should leave. Captain Mr. Slap debated with him for over ten minutes before he had the approval to apprehend the pirates. Apparently, the marines are not allowed to harm the people fighting the pirates because they are the savior and the military arm of the island. With a yes from the mayor, he head out and thought about this information. Dr. Beat, having been a confidant to him about the Treegap's circumstances, told him that there were a group of troublemakers in the island who cut down trees. He didn't doubt Dr. Beat, and so he found it weird that the people cutting down trees are being protected by the small government of Treegap. It was strange.
There's obviously something going on behind the scenes of Treegap, and Slap is not leaving until he found it. It's only manners to finish what Beat had started. With a sigh, he head out unto the shores of the island. In the distance, he can see his marine soldiers going through houses, and some running around to find where they could be. A series of explosion out into the east of the island inside the forest gave them a hint of where both groups could be. He decided to ignore it and instead put his trust on his soldiers. He went to the nearest house, and asked where the mayor lives. After finding this out, he went towards the mayor's house. Once he got there, he was a bit confused. He didn't mean to judge, but a person with such a deep voice and one who sounds with so much power should live in a bigger house. Instead, Slap looked at the one-floor house and decided to knock into the door. After at least about twenty knocks on the broken down wood frame of the door, a frail old man came out grasping a stick on his left hand. He surveyed the short old man and with a smile, he asked if he could talk the mayor. To his surprise, he was already talking to the mayor.
"Y-you're the mayor?" the captain confusedly asked the old man. With a chuckle, the old man nodded.
"What can I do for you, young man?" the old man said slowly.
"I am a marine captain and I am here to apprehend the pirates and the troublemakers in the area. On the den-den mushi, you told me to protect these troublemakers. I know it's none of my business, but wouldn't it be better for me to arrest them as well? Aren't the people of Treegap fond of their trees?" Slap's words came out in a rush as his confusion got to him.
The old man chuckled again. He answered with a "What did you say?" and this was all the evidence the captain had to arrest both the pirates and the troublemakers.
"Thank you," he said as he headed out into the direction of the forest.
That man in the den-den mushi is not the mayor. Obviously not. Also, how did he get a hold of my ship's number. What's happening in Treegap? All these he questioned himself. As a captain, he should know. But he doesn't. If only Beat was there.
